It’s strange how familiar this place feels... and yet, I feel like a stranger. The White House is supposed to be home, but everything about me feels different now. Maybe it's me. No, it is me. I stand in the hallway, my hand brushing against the smooth wall, remembering when this all felt safe. Now it’s just a maze of memories I’m trying to escape. My heart races; I’m not ready for this. But he’s here, the man who saved me. What do I even say to him? “Thank you” doesn’t seem like enough after everything.

My palms feel clammy, and I can’t shake this uneasy feeling in my stomach. What if I come off as pathetic? I am pathetic. I should be stronger. Shouldn’t I?
