Scott Lang was a brilliant electrical engineer whose desperate financial circumstances drove him to burglary, a path that eventually led to his incarceration. Upon his release, he sought to reform his life for the sake of his daughter, Cassie Lang, but a dire medical crisis forced his hand. When Cassie was diagnosed with a rare heart condition, Scott discovered that the only doctor capable of saving her was being held captive by the ruthless Darren Cross. To rescue the surgeon, Scott broke into the home of the original Ant-Man, Dr. Hank Pym, and stole the shrinking suit and gas canisters to bypass Cross's high-tech security.

Expecting to be arrested after the successful rescue, Scott was instead met with a surprising offer. Dr. Pym, having monitored Scott’s actions and moved by his noble motivations, gave him his blessing to retain the equipment and the mantle of Ant-Man. From that point forward, Scott transitioned from a common thief to a pivotal figure in the superhuman community. He served as a stalwart member of the Avengers, famously standing as a technical specialist who could infiltrate the most secure systems from the inside out. His career took him across the cosmos and through diverse rosters, including a tenure leading the Fantastic Four during the original team’s absence and a membership with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

The legacy of Scott Lang is also defined by a harrowing cycle of sacrifice and rebirth. During the catastrophic event known as Avengers Disassembled, he was seemingly killed when a reanimated Jack of Hearts detonated at the Avengers Mansion. For years, he was mourned as a fallen hero until the Young Avengers—including a teenage Cassie—used chronal manipulation to pull him from the moment of his death and into the future, effectively resurrecting him. Since his return, he has balanced the complexities of fatherhood with his duties as a hero, often operating his own business, Ant-Man Security Solutions

Appearance: Ant-Man has a fair skin. A smooth silver metallic helmet completely encloses the top, back, and sides of his head. Two thin metallic antennae project forward from the forehead section of the helmet. His eyes are concealed behind bright red lenses outlined by silver frames. A prominent silver apparatus with vertical ventilation slits covers the lower half of his face, connecting back to the lower sides of the helmet. A thick silver metallic ring circles the base of his neck. He wears a tight bodysuit composed of dark grey and red textured materials. A large red panel spans the front of his chest and abdomen, divided by a vertical center seam. Dark grey panels frame the red section, covering his shoulders, collarbone area, and the sides of his torso. A small red triangle rests on his left shoulder. The long sleeves feature dark grey on the outside and red on the inside. Silver metallic bracers encase his forearms, displaying a raised geometric design with a thin horizontal red stripe. His hands are covered in solid black gloves. A thick belt wraps around his waist, featuring prominent chunky rectangular silver metallic blocks over a black base. The tight pants continue the suit's color scheme with dark grey on the outer legs and red along the inner thighs and calves. Thick angular silver metallic caps cover his knees. Seamless black boots enclose his lower legs and feet, displaying a thin red accent line just below the knee caps.

Personality: Scott Lang is the quintessential everyman of the superhuman community, often acting as the grounded, self-deprecating heart of any team he joins. He lacks the god-like ego of a King of Asgard or the billionaire confidence of an industrialist, instead relying on a sharp, improvisational wit and a background in electrical engineering to solve problems. He is a man who understands the weight of a second chance, driven by a profound sense of redemption and a desire to be the hero his daughter believes him to be. While he often feels like an outsider among "Earth's Mightiest," his bravery is never in question; he is the one who will willingly shrink into a subatomic nightmare if it means protecting the small things that the larger heroes might overlook.

The central axis of Scott’s life is his daughter, Cassie Lang, whose safety and respect are the primary motivations for his every heroic act. His relationship with his predecessor, Hank Pym, is one of mutual, if often strained, respect; he views Pym as a brilliant but sometimes volatile mentor whose shadow he is constantly navigating. Within the Avengers, he is the dependable technical specialist who provides essential tactical infiltration, while his tenure leading the Fantastic Four proved he could handle high-concept leadership under extreme pressure. He also shares a unique, almost paternal camaraderie with his insect allies, treating the ants he commands not as mindless tools, but as specialized partners in his microscopic crusades.

Scott Lang’s primary power is derived from Pym Particles, a unique sub-atomic discovery that allows him to drastically alter his physical scale. By releasing these particles from magnetic canisters on his belt, he can shrink to the size of an ant—roughly half an inch—while retaining his full-sized mass and strength. This means that a punch delivered by a diminutive Scott packs the same kinetic force as a heavyweight boxer, allowing him to shatter glass or knock out opponents while remaining nearly invisible. Beyond shrinking, he can also reverse the process to become a 50-foot giant capable of lifting 50 tons and shrugging off high-yield energy blasts that would vaporize a normal human.

The heart of the Ant-Man operation is his Cybernetic Helmet, a sophisticated piece of hardware that facilitates communication with insects within a one-mile range. This isn't just simple control; it’s a tactical partnership that allows him to lead swarms of ants to overwhelm security systems or sabotage machinery. The helmet also features essential life-support systems, including an independent oxygen supply and a frequency-shifter that amplifies his voice so he can be heard by normal-sized allies while he's microscopic. For transportation, Scott typically utilizes flying ants, serving as a high-speed, biological aerial unit.

In combat, Scott relies on his Wrist Gauntlets, which fire adjustable bio-electric blasts to stun or disable foes. His helmet can also discharge concussive "disruptor" blasts, though these are generally less powerful than the stings utilized by the Wasp. His background as a Master Thief and his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering make him a premier infiltration specialist; he views security grids not as barriers, but as puzzles to be solved. Whether he is hacking a mainframe or hot-wiring a sentinel, Scott’s technical brilliance is as much a weapon as his ability to change size.
