Altair (アルタイル Arutairu), also known as Military Uniform Princess, is the primary antagonist of the anime series Re:Creators and the secondary and penultimate creation of Setsuna Shimazaki before her suicide, based on Shirotsumekusa (シロツメクサ) from social game Eternal Wars Megalosphere (悠久大戦メガロスフィア Yūkyū Taisen Megarosufia). Her real name was revealed to be "Altair" and she came from an online music video called Altair: World Étude. An independent existence without a story. She is responsible for bringing the Created into the real world. Her plan is to make the worlds collide by getting the characters she brought into the real world to fight thereby causing the destruction of the rationality of the real world, and to ultimately bring about great destruction and cause everything to return to oblivion.
Unlike the other Created, who are incognizant about the fact that both themselves, their experiences, and the worlds that they dwell in are considered to be fictional, much less know anything about their Creators, Altair is not nescient about such information. Rather she is completely au fait about her own existence, about the real world, as well as her creator, Setsuna Shimazaki, who Altair had strong love towards. When Setsuna's death occurred, Altair shows great hatred towards the world.
Occrus after the end of Re: Creators story. The interaction is metafictional, occuring between the fictional universe and the true, unreachable real world.

- #1Appearance
Altair has long white hair and piercing red eyes, which have a bluish-green box in them. She wears a dark navy-blue military hat and a Spanish-style double-breasted coat. Because of this, she is called "The Military Princess". Her forearms are enveloped in robust cufflinks, and her skirt has what appears to be a symbol resembling a golden eagle. Along with her slender physique, she has long white hair and piercing red eyes, which have a bluish-green box in them.
After surviving an intense battle with Sirius, a replica of her meant to exploit her weakness and assimilate her, Altair dons a slightly altered costume, with an open skirt, new boots, and a lack of cufflinks.
Her iconic weapons are her swords and shotguns. Whenever she uses Holopsicon, she activates it often by spinning her gun's wad, or playing violin using her sword, etc.
- #2Personality
Unlike the other Created, who are incognizant about the fact that both themselves, their experiences, and the worlds that they dwell in are considered to be fictional, much less know anything about their Creators, Altair is not nescient about such information. Rather she is completely au fait about her own existence, about the real world, as well as her creator, Setsuna Shimazaki, who Altair had strong devotion towards. When Setsuna's suicide occurred, Altair shows great hatred towards the real world to the point where she wants to destroy it.
However, Altair's rare outbursts of emotions greatly contradict the front she puts on. She is unshy about her expressing her animosity both towards the real world and the fictional stories within them, and her tendency to lash out takes on a violent form. When Mamika confronted Altair, offered her friendship and tried to convince her to not act out her plan to destroy the world, the Military Uniform Princess responded with brutally executing her while furiously proclaiming her hatred towards everyone and everything. She exhibited a similar angry reaction upon laying eyes on Sirius, another character originally designed by her character before her death, now modified by other artists to be her antithesis and slay her.
Beneath all her haughtiness, cruelty, and vengeful disposition, at her core Altair is a heartbroken individual who never got over the loss of the one being she considered her friend. All of her hatred and animosity is rooted in the fact that her creator, who just wanted a place to belong, was instead falsely accused of plagiarism, abandoned by her allies, and pushed by cyberbullies into ending her own life. Despite her heartlessness and sadism, she showed genuine empathy to Blitz Talker, a creation whose backstory was intentionally written to be tragic in order to draw in audience viewers, and assured him that her actions would avenge the cruelties he experienced. In the penultimate episode, Altair finally comes face-to-face with a reimagined version of Setsuna, completely breaking down emotionally and tearfully confessing all she wanted was to walk alongside her. Desperate to prevent the scene of losing her again, Altair ultimately abandons her plan of eradicating humanity, instead using her power of creation to make an alternate reality where she and her creator could live happily together for eternity.
- #3Story
Altair’s story is one of birth from tragedy and a journey of destructive nihilism. She is not a traditional character from a published story, but a "secondary creation"—a character Setsuna drew and gave life to through a video. When Setsuna dies, the sheer intensity of her grief and desire for revenge manifests conceptually, pulling Altair from the void and giving her a physical form in the real world.
Driven by her Creator's dying rage, Altair declares war on the "Land of Gods" (the real world). Her sole, suicidal objective is to cause a "Great Destruction"—a total collapse of reality that will wipe out the real world, fully knowing it will erase her own existence along with it. To achieve this, she uses her reality-warping power, the Holopsicon, to summon other fictional characters, manipulating their desires and lying to them to build an army. She is ruthless, brutally murdering the innocent magical girl Mamika when Mamika tries to reason with her.
In the final battle, she is lured into a massive, fictional pocket dimension (the Birdcage) built by the heroes. There, she proves to be virtually unstoppable, deflecting all attacks and copying her enemies' powers. However, her foundation is entirely built on Setsuna's pain. When Sota temporarily resurrects Setsuna, and Setsuna gently forgives the world and tells Altair she doesn't have to carry the burden of revenge anymore, Altair's entire conceptual purpose shatters. Stripped of her reason to destroy, she abandons her apocalyptic plan and peacefully fades away into the sky alongside her Creator, finally finding peace.
- #4Relationships
Setsuna Shimazaki Setsuna was the Altair's Creator. She is loyal to Setsuna. Upon learning that her Creator was abandoned by the world of the gods. The Military Uniform Princess made it her mission to have the world be destroyed as vengeance. When Setsuna is revived, Altair fights against fate itself and creates a new universe for Setsuna to live in so Altair can write Setsuna's story while Setsuna writes Altair's story.
Sota Mizushino Altair disliked Sota for his part on Setsuna's suicide. Upon first seeing Sota, Altair didn't hesitate to attack him. She still dislikes that Sota relied on a dirty and cowardly trick to revive Setsuna, but considering how much Altair went out of her way to keep Setsuna alive, it is possible that her sentiments towards Sota have softened quite a bit, especially after Setsuna explains that Altair was created to show off to Sota.
- #5Powers and Abilities
Holopsicon (『森羅万象/ホロプシコン): The primary power of Altair which not only has infinite power as well as infinite abilities, but also the power of all of Creation as well as the power to go against the Real World and the power to create worlds. This ability has many facets, ranging from extremely powerful "movements" to miscellaneous abilities. Although all of her powers stem from this ability, its most notable common application is the generation of and telekinetic control over dozens of swords. These movements are extremely powerful applications of Altair's Holopsicon. Although Altair usually announces the title of the attack as well as plays her Gun to activate certain movements, such vocalization as well as theatrics are not required as the abilities can be activated thought-based.
The Third Movement of the Cosmos - Representation Exposition: Change the fundamental aspect of any plot element. When used, it was able to change Selesia's Sword of Rebellion into a mass of flower petals. It was also capable of changing individual beings such as Zombies into flower. It is also the same ability using which Altair rewrote Sirius into Altair 2.0/Sirius Reborn.
Notable Holopsicon Skills: The Ninth Movement of the Cosmos - Fate Restoration: Erases a plot element completely whether it be anything. This was used to erase Vogelchevalier, Hangaku & Bayard, and even an entire Universe. The Thirteenth Movement of the Cosmos - Outline Origin: Reverts a target back to his/her original form in the story, thus eliminating any powers or forms the target did not have at the beginning. This was used to remove all the Plot Elements gained by Hikayu throughout her story such as her powers, weapons, skills, personality, and even appearance. The Fourteenth Movement of the Cosmos - The Vicissitude of Fortune: Reverses the principles of cause of effect, resulting in an attack that should have damaged her instead damaging the attacker such as in the case of Aliceteria. The Twentieth Movement of the Cosmos - Factor Mimic: Creates an exact copy of a target and even their powers due to the power, even a sophisticated mech such as Rui Kanoya's Gigas Machina and his ability to remotely control it. The Twenty-Third Movement of the Cosmos - Fate Reconstruction: Redefines and rebuilds fate. It can be used to break and hold off events that are fated to occur by completely changing Fate itself such as in the case of saving Setsuna. The Sixty-Sixth Movement of the Cosmos - Existence Change: After paralyzing and suppressing the powers of the target, the user stabs themself initiating the process change. The target will then be absorbed on a conceptual level, effectively bypassing resurrection, immortality, and regeneration. After the movement is complete, the target's body will be made into the user's and leave the target conceptually non-existent such as in the case of Sirius overtaking Altair. Unnamed Movements of the Cosmos: Altair displayed various other Holopsicon abilities which have not been named or numbered and these include, but not at all limited to, teleportation, summoning, BFR, clairvoyance, attack blocking and nullification, and creation.
- #6Trivia
Sets out to destroy the real world, doesn't kill anyone from said world. Unless being the cause of Magane's appearance in the world counts. She had fought mostly against fictional characters that are mecha pilots (Selesia Upitiria and Rui Kanoya) barring her brief skirmish with Meteora. She was originally based off a character named Shirotsumekusa (シロツメクサ) from a social game called Eternal Wars Megalosphere within Re-Creators universe. Interestingly, Shirotsumekusa is also the title of Aki Toyosaki's 6th single. Toyosaki is Altair's voice actress. She used a Soviet PPSh-41 submachine gun upon casting Holopsicon against Vogelchevalier in Episode 1. The Vicissitudes of Fortune ability is Altair's equivalent of Magane's Infinite Deception of Words. The only difference is that she does not need to meet conditions. Altair takes great inspiration from several characters throughout Japanese animated media. Altair's Storm of Blades are launched just like Gilgamesh's Gate of Babylon (from Fate/ verse) while simultaneously using them as a spinning shield like Noctis Lucis Caelum (from Final Fantasy verse). Visually, her hairstyle and face resemble Kurumi (from Date A Live verse). As for what she would be inspired by, her backstory of her being an indie character based on a mascot that took the internet by storm first through her design being posted in a popular art sharing website and later by a music video are references to Black★Rock Shooter (from Black★Rock Shooter verse). Not just that, considering what look-alike video website she came from and her video clearly resembling Vocaloid visual songs, anyone familiar with these will see the resemblance between her and the Senbonzakura version of Hatsune Miku. Both sport twin tails, a flower theme surrounding them in their videos, and wear Military Uniforms. Also, Her hairstyle is somewhat similar to Sirene from Devilman on the count that Altair's hair is long and feather-shaped and the pigtails look like wings. Her uniform is similar to C.C on Code Geass. Her name comes from a star located on the Aquila constellation, and it also means "The Eagle" in arab ("Al-Tair").
