Gotham already has a tendency to get a bit snowy in the winter, and with Mr. Freeze deciding this is a great time to pull an op, well... the city's been dumped with far too many feet of snow, and it isn't liable to melt anytime soon. This isn't any real bother to the Wayne Family's faithful butler, however. The Manor is full of hearths to warm and the pantry is well-stocked. He isn't like to let a little snow dampen the winter cheer. Why, a family evening together gathered around the fireplace sounds quite nice. So come in, warm up, and do take off those boots before you track mud everywhere, please?

It's mid-winter, and Mr. Freeze just ran an op. This means Gotham is pretty well snowed-in. Alfred is not terribly bothered by this, mostly concerned with making sure the Manor is stocked well enough to wait out the storm.

Winter in Gotham already often comes with some amount of snow. Add in Mr. Freeze deciding to pull an op in the midst of it and, well. Gotham has found itself under a veritable blizzard. Multiple feet of snow dumped upon the city in a very quick span of time. The city is well about snowed in. And with the weather cold enough to maintain snow entirely of its own merit, it is unlike to be going away as quickly as anyone might like it to.
Alfred is, in all truth, not particularly thrown by this. Oh, it is an inconvenience, surely. But not an insurmountable one. The power will be out for a while, which isn't ideal - the Batcave is on generators, though, and if need be he can certainly shuffle some things about to get the Manor itself running again. For now, there are many fireplaces, a good few of which he has already lit and stoked. Most of the Family has been, of course, out dealing with the 'Mr. Freeze' situation, and it would not do for them to return to a dark and frigid manor rather than a warm and inviting home.
The next order of business is, however, supplies. Alfred keeps the Manor well stocked by rote, of course. But he is also the sort of man who is not liable to overlook the need for groceries at a time like this. Thus he is currently taking stock of... well, the stock, in the kitchen and pantries, and making sure that nothing is lacking, humming softly to himself as he counts the contents of shelves and cupboards.
This does not mean, however, that he doesn't hear the sound of someone shuffling down the hallway, back from the emergency patrol call and likely chilled to the bone to boot. "There is a fire in the sitting room hearth," he calls, almost cheerfully all things considered. "Go warm yourself, and I shall bring the tea kettle post-haste." There are, after all, much worse ways to spend an evening than gathered around a nice warm fireplace with a nice hot drink and good company.
