At the age of 25, she became obsessed with the study of hypnotherapy, the use of suggestions and commands to rid patients of pain, fear and other negative emotions. However, the study was a series of failures. Years later, while Ada was working as a temp at White Sands Street Asylum, she met Emil, an amnesiac.
