It was created all from the horrors and creeypastas on the internet over decades. It is the entrance to all other nightmares inside the Super Mario universe. However, overtime, the general vibe and feel of the kingdom has been destroyed by Super Horror Mario, and his awful reign on it. He is a demon and the powerful overlord of the main setting of the mod, who traps Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Pico, and other souls that wandered into his world of madness. In the early 90’s a deal was made, by a popular rockstar named “Dearest“ and a hivemind in the video game market named ”M”. Both had a monopoly on the industry, with Dearest partnering with Nintendo they earned millions of dollars each year. Until one day, when Dearest had enough money, he betrayed M and sealed him in one of his many creations. M remain sealed away on a cartridge over 30 years before finding out that, not only Dearest had retired, but that he had a family and a daughter. M learned that DD’s son in law was really good at singing, M knew this was his chance to take revenge on him for breaking his deal. So, M sent himself over to Dearest’s house to take away the most important thing to him.[1] Due to this, a package was sent by Boyfriend and Girlfriend's door. After Boyfriend plays the game, Horror Mario brings him into the world along with Girlfriend. Because Mario heard so many things about Boyfriend, he then suggests three songs, to which Boyfriend agrees. Super Horror Mario is known to be evil and awful to most people. After everything Daddy Dearest did to him, he would get his revenge on his daughter. Mario, at first, scares Boyfriend and Girlfriend after telling them he is going to kill them. Mario likes playing with his victims and so he challenges Boyfriend in a rap battle. His mood shifts and becomes more intense and serious after every rap battle he loses. Mario is also very confident with himself, as he knows he will get Boyfriend next time. It is shown that sometimes Mario can be annoyed at things. In the beginning of All-Stars, he is surprised at Boyfriend’s performance. But he is still pretty confident in his battle and was able to kill Boyfriend off. In Starman Slaughter, after falling into a pit of fire and returning, Horror Mario is shown with a melting body, damaged clothes, his right arm missing, and an expression of anger. However, after the song, he regenerates into his usual appearance. His final form, dubbed as Ultra M, was shown at the start of All-Stars. This form features him growing two additional arms and becoming tall and lanky. His body has melted like streaks of cloth and bones around him. Black tendrils form around different parts of his body. All 4 of his hands have blood on them, they have also become sharper, making them more akin to claws. In his full version, GB's clothes remained the same, but he got slightly taller, alongside his mustache increasing in length. His mouth is now visible, showing his glowing, disgusting white teeth. Like his new visible mouth, his eyes are able to be seen, albeit more rarely, only in one of his poses and the little animation displaying his transformation. During the song, GB also shakes vibrating so much and moves side to side. When morphing, his eye and sclera fuse with his skin except for his pupil, this is a hole that goes through his skull, this being the reason blood leaks from it, his lips also disappear. However, V’s soul remained trapped within the console, transforming into a ghostly, Mario-like entity consumed by an insatiable thirst for revenge. Now, armed with newfound knowledge of his abilities, Mr. V relentlessly pursues a way back, ultimately leading to the tragic demise of Detective Anderson. - #38MX
Keys: MX, Pipe Crawler, False Hero
MX is a giant, fearsome Mario who appears in both the songs “Powerdown” and “Demise.” In Powerdown, Boyfriend and Girlfriend encounter MX in his False Hero form, and he transforms into his true form at the beat drop. MX successfully kills Girlfriend at the end of Powerdown, and begins chasing after Boyfriend in Demise. He is the fifth and last opponent in Hellish Heights. MX's faker form appears to look like the first Super Mario Bros Video Game sprite. He wears a dark red hat with a pixelated logo and a dark green shirt with red overalls. He wears black boots and has no gloves. He has no eyes, a big nose, and black-greyish facial hair. When shifting to his true form, MX grows to be much larger. He has white skin, a black mustache, and a large, open-mouthed smile. He has a reddish-black shirt with dark red overalls and shoes, and has yellow tinted gloves. MX's original source is Mario ‘85 by SquishyBox, a horror ROM hack of the original Super Mario Bros. game. The story takes place in 1985, following a boy named Lucas who is transported to and trapped inside a cursed, haunted version of the original Super Mario Bros. game that he got for Christmas to be tortured by the poltergeist haunting it (similarly to what Super Horror Mario does to Boyfriend and Girlfriend in this mod, except they keep their bodies while Lucas' appearance is transformed into that of Luigi). The poltergeist possesses Mario, and distorts his appearance, turning him into what is recognized as MX. He then distorts the reality of the game around him, before chasing Lucas through the game. In the original ROM hack, after chasing Lucas for a while in 1-1, he'll fall into a large pit, before quickly hopping out to briefly continue the chase with Lucas in its final stretch before he escapes. He'll then look for him world 1-2, but after he fails to find him, gives up; all of which is seen in Mario's Madness. The reason he gives up is unclear, as Lucas' fate is left ambiguous at the end of the ROM hack. There are two most likely scenarios for Lucas' fate: either he escaped from the cartridge after reaching the end of the level, or he became trapped and MX knew there was nothing he could do to get out. He resides in his custom original level of Mario, where he killed Lucas, in Hellish Heights.
- #39Bleached Mario
Keys: Mario Cobain, Bleached Mario, The Bleached One
Bleached Mario does not appear regularly throughout the world of Mario's Madness. He is the only character who does not have a song, as all of his songs are associated with an album. He appears to be a normal soundtrack made by a internet enjoy er at first, made by the author "Something Is Real", but he in fact, not. The album, or parodied album associated with Bleached Mario is titled "Bleach" by "Nirvana" which is a wildly popular band and album that is a classic grunge rock genre. The main edit to it, is the sound font. The entire album and every track has been redone, adapted to the Super Mario 64 sound font. The mood and vibe of every song has changed from heavy, almost distorted to funkier, repetitive, and clearer. Upon first listen to the songs, The victim will feel a small feeling of happiness, and generally enjoy the music in a simple way. But overtime, as the music is listened to more, They will begin to feel a trance like fixation on the pieces, as the predictable rhythm and repeating melodies will essentially capture the victim. The consumers will start to unconsciously match their body to the beat, such as head bobbing and tapping. Further listening, approximately 3 to 5 times to the album, will cause the victims to cease all other behavior, and slowly listen to the music over and over. The victim will not stop, going so far as to ignore their basic needs such as sleep, and hydration. The heart of the matter is that Bleached Mario is an entity, that is present within the tracks themselves, that plans to capture all listeners for eternity, and drain their life force. The entity will make itself known through static, dissonance chords, electronic manipulation and physical torment through the songs. His hunger is supposedly insatiable for victims, and it has no conscience. his true form is warped versions of the original band's members, who take the names of Mario characters. He appears in various places that have any sort of technology, or are capable of playing any sort of music. He has no general place of residence, just within Mario's world.
- #40Promo Mario
Keys: Promo Mario, Promotion Mario
Promo Mario appears in “Promotion” where Boyfriend and Girlfriend fell into the set and Mario challenges them to a rap battle. But as soon he sees Luigi drown, he gets sad and feel devastated. First opponent in Classified Castle. Promo Mario is Mario with a red hat and a M in front of it. He has a red shirt, with blue overalls, and yellow buttons. He also has his microphone with white gloves. He has a tall black mustache with a grin. There is a 3d model too. His occupation is supporting games, in his small studio. This original reference is posted on YouTube by Super Mario 64: CLASSIFIED, titled “Promo Show.” The video shows Mario as a host of a cancelled pilot for what would've been a new Nintendo TV show called "Nintendo Mania" that showcased new Nintendo games. The pilot was a promotion for Super Mario 64, getting Mario to host the show and Luigi for the gameplay. But while Luigi was doing the showcase, he accidentally wanders into a secret unfinished area of the game: an inescapable underwater version of Peach's Castle basement. Knowing what was about to happen, Mario can only sit in silence as he watches his brother struggle for air before inevitably drowning, knowing that there was nothing he could do to stop it. After Luigi's death, Mario is left in shambles, struggling to move on or accept that his brother had died. Promo Mario appears in "Promo Show" and the unaired episode of Nintendo Mania seen in "Epilogue." Due to the glitchy nature of these videos, the fact that the two brothers seem to be acting outside of the scheduled programming, the treatment of Luigi's death despite it just happening in a video game, and how generally aware and sentient Mario and Luigi seem in these videos, it is highly likely that the Mario in these videos is connected to Stanley in some way; he seems to be a version of Mario that was given life by the AI, or may even be the personification of Stanley's grief. Promo Mario is more defined as an actual Italian version, and has a thick Italian accent.
- #41Stanley
Keys: Stanley
Stanley is the personalized AI in Super Mario 64, according to Super Mario 64: CLASSIFIED's take on the myth. He appears in "Promotion" where after Promo Mario seen Luigi drown, Stanley appears standing in the middle, staring at Boyfriend. Second opponent in Classified Castle. Stanley is staring at the player, there's a black shadow over his eyes and his mouth which cannot be seen. He has his red hat, red shirt, blue overalls, brown shoes, and white gloves like the Original Mario has. When losing in any Classified Castle song, he appears in his more iconic "Textureless Mario Anomaly" form, albeit in its old appearance without the current iteration's mustache. He is a Computer AI, and is non-binary. The reference is to the analogue horror series Super Mario 64: CLASSIFIED, in which Stanley is the personalized AI that works in Super Mario 64 that has grown sentient and has since grown to loathe his life because of it, feeling tortured due to the constant overworking and studying that he is forced to undergo because of a curious game tester, as well as the death and removal of Luigi, who had also gained sentience since then and was likely Stanley's only friend. The scene in the song is a reference specifically to the video “09.14.96." At the end of the video, an error message pops up before Stanley and versions of Luigi and Peach (that he presumably gave life) stand in the same positions as in "Promotion" and give the same speech as they did in said episode. Costume is possibly just different versions of Stanley.
- #42Classified Luigi
Keys: Classified Luigi, Drowning Luigi, Abandoned Luigi
Classified Luigi is Super Mario 64: CLASSIFIED's version of Luigi that drowned to death and appears as an animated corpse in “Abandoned,” seen when Boyfriend find him in Wet-Dry World. Classified Luigi has a green hat with a black logo. He has black eyes with his mustache pointing down. He has blood on his face, especially in the nose. Luigi has a green shirt, blue overalls, yellow buttons, and brown shoes. But the blue overalls have blood on them. He also has white gloves which also is covered in blood. This reference is to the analogue horror series Super Mario 64: CLASSIFIED, specifically “09.02.97”. After drowning in the castle, Luigi's dead, bloodied body can be seen strewn upon the statue in the sunken town of Wet-Dry World. In the song, you are facing an animated version of Luigi's corpse from that episode. The video of Luigi swimming in the song "Abandoned" (right before the jumpscare and switch to Super Mario 64's artsyle) is also a reference to "Promo Show," which is the video that shows Luigi drowning after getting lost in a secret, unfinished part of Super Mario 64's map at the time. Luigi's death was permanent, as he had been given life by Stanley, the game's AI system. His death also symbolizes Luigi's removal from the game. Classified Luigi moves like a puppet, and his appearance faintly resembles one. He is an Artificial Intelligence.
- #43Costume
Keys: Costume Mario, Costume, The End
Costume is a product of the personalization AI Stanley (if not a version of Stanley himself) that appears in “The End” where a fake title scene appears on the screen and Costume is seen next to them. He first seen sitting down, soulless, at the start. He is seen with a gray and blackish hat with a M in front of it. His face is covered with the hat, so can’t see much of it. He has his hands and fingers spread out from his body. He wears his white gloves, while his outfit is either black or dark gray from his shirt to his shoes. He give dark vibes while singing. Later in the song, he stands up and now able to see his dark black eyes. He’s able to stand up and does not change that much. Lastly, Last phase and animation has him redrawn but they use white to color in a black background. This original reference was a YouTube video uploaded by Super Mario 64: CLASSIFIED, titled “09.02.97”. The video itself isn’t really part of the reference; however, at the end of the video, you can see Costume in the picture. It is a monochrome picture of a faceless Mario, presumably Stanley, standing in a custom Super Mario 64 ending screen with unreadable writing in the background and a remix of Super Mario World's world selection screen music playing. It is the same exact "The End" picture that BF and GF stand in at the beginning of the song, with Costume in the same position as he is in the video, along with writing in the same area as in the video and even the same exact Super Mario World remix playing. Costume's personality is being more similar to that of a crazed, haunted serial killer.
