Unmatched in both his skill with unique armaments and his biting sarcasm, Jax is the last known weapons master of Icathia. After his homeland was laid low by its own hubris in unleashing the Void, Jax and his kind vowed to protect what little remained. As magic now rises in the world, this slumbering threat stirs once more, and Jax roams Valoran, wielding the last light of Icathia and testing all warriors he meets to see if any are strong enough to stand beside him...
Real name: Saijax Cail-Rynx Kohari Icath'un Alias(es): Grandmaster at Arms Species: Unknown (Possibly Sand-Troll) Age: 3528-4398 years old Place of origin: Icathia, Shurima (Ancient Times) Current residence: Unknown (No Fixed Abode)
Saijax Cail-Rynx Icath’un was born in Icathia, once a proud, sovereign nation reduced to a vassal of the Shuriman Empire. From childhood, his father spoke of Icathia’s former glory—of the Kohari, noble guardians of the Mage King, who resisted Shuriman conquest to the bitter end. When the Mage King fell in battle, the Kohari followed him in death, committing ritual suicide. Their bodies were desecrated by the Shurimans: the Mage King impaled above the city gates, the Kohari left to rot in disgrace.
His father had witnessed these atrocities firsthand, and over time, passed to Saijax not just stories—but a deep and enduring hatred for Shurima. Despite this, Saijax dedicated himself to the art of combat, mastering weapons under both Shuriman instructors and his clan’s elders. He prepared not only for survival—but for something greater.
After centuries of oppression, a massive earthquake shook Saabera, revealing something buried deep beneath the land—an ancient, formless power that defied understanding. The Void. Saijax was assigned to protect the mages who investigated the site, where even their most potent elemental fire barely held the anomaly at bay. Alarmed, he escorted the mages to Icathia’s council.
The mages called this force salvation. Saijax saw only doom.
The council, eager to reclaim their independence, crowned a new Mage King and rebuilt the Kohari. Saijax, though troubled, was among the first to swear loyalty. In early battles, they were victorious—Saijax even felled one of the godlike Ascended, and its corpse was paraded through the reclaimed city of Bai-Zhek.
But Shurima responded. As the Ascended Host advanced on Icathia, the time came to unleash the Void.
What followed was annihilation.
The spell tore through both armies. Shurimans, Icathians, and even Ascended were unraveled in moments. The land collapsed into a crater of silence and ash. Icathia was gone.
Ridden with guilt, Saijax returned to the devastation to take his own life, as the Kohari once had. But amid the ruin, he saw something: a brazier-stave from Saabera, still alight with elemental fire—one of the few things that had wounded the Void. That flicker of flame kindled something within him. He took up the stave and walked away from the ashes of his homeland, carrying the last light of Icathia—and a new purpose.
Casting off his name, Saijax Cail-Rynx Kohari Icath’un became Jax.
Now a wanderer, Jax has journeyed across Runeterra and beyond. As he carried the elemental fire, his lifespan stretched unnaturally long. But the farther he wandered from Icathia, the weaker the flame grew—until it nearly guttered out. He knew then that he could no longer flee. The Void had been stalled by the last surviving Ascended, but its threat remained eternal.
For centuries, Jax has searched for warriors—those worthy enough to stand with him, to one day rebuild the Kohari. He has fought countless champions, tested countless blades, but none yet have proven themselves ready to face the oncoming darkness.
Still, Jax remains vigilant. Haunted by the fall of his homeland, he bears the flame and the weight of failure—but he will not falter again.
When the final battle comes, Jax will stand against the Void.
Even if he must face it alone.
Appearance: Jax wears purple robes with blue tinted stripes and patterns in various places. He carries with him a brazier stave used to contain elemental fire that can harm The Void. His most defining feature is his mask with six glowing blue "eyes" that covers his entire face.
It is not known what he looks like underneath his mask. However, during the events of Icathia's destruction, he was described as having a shaven head, a forked beard, and skin pockmarked by a childhood illness.
Personality: Always itching for a fight, Jax is a brazen and arrogant individual, wanting to find an opponent that presents him a challenge. Despite this brazen personality, Jax still harbors personal doubt because of the events of Icathia, which changed him forever.
Weapons Master: When he was young, Jax devoted himself to the study of weapons and arms, and as such is a master of combat with weapons, defeating many in duels over the course of his life. Brazier Stave: Jax wields an ignited brazier stave that can harm The Void. He uses this as a weapon in almost every combat situation he finds himself in, as he finds it more challenging. Extended Life: The magic emanating from the brazier stave has extended Jax's life and continues to do so. Jax is currently more than 3500 years old.
Abilities: Relentless Assault - Jax's consecutive attacks continuously increase in speed. Leap Strike - Jax leaps toward a unit. If they are an enemy, he strikes them with his weapon. Empower - Jax charges his weapon with energy, before slamming it down on his enemy. Counter Strike - Jax's combat prowess allows him to dodge all incoming attacks for a short duration and then quickly counterattack, stunning enemies.
Ultimate Ability: Grandmaster-at-Arms - Every third consecutive attack deals additional magical damage. Additionally, Jax can activate this ability to deal damage around himself and strengthen his resolve, increasing his durability and magic resistance.
Runeterra (meaning magic earth) is a plane of existence composed of the physical realm: an oblate spheroid planet and the Spirit Realm. The currently known continents the planet comprises are Valoran, Shurima and the Camavoran Continent. It also boasts several large bodies of water, such as the currently known 18 Seas (like the Conqueror's Sea and the Guardian's Sea), and 2 Oceans with several archipelagos and islands around them (like Ionia, the Serpent Isles, and the Shadow Isles). The planet orbits around a G-type star while a natural satellite moon orbits around the planet. Runeterra's sun and moon also even mirrored equivalents in the spirit realm. Composed of both the material and spirit realms, Runeterra is all that separates the celestial powers of creation from the abyssal threat of all undoing. This is a magical world unlike any other--inhabited by peoples both fierce and wondrous.
Centuries ago, magical artifacts called the 'World Runes' were rediscovered. Over the following decades, knowledge of the Runes began to spread as more were unearthed. The world's brightest minds studied the ancient glyphs, attempting to determine the powers they possessed. Few could even begin to understand the importance of their origins, or the sheer power held within them. Some surmised that the Runes were integral to the creation of Runeterra itself. The first use of these mysterious artifacts proved catastrophic, as they reshaped the landscape of entire nations. Mistrust quickly grew as those who knew of the Runes imagined such “Makers' Might” being used as a weapon. Conflicts related to these magical artifacts began to occur, known as the Rune Wars.
Open warfare raged across Runeterra. The first horrors of the Rune Wars sparked fear and aggression among those who now realized the power at their command. Ryze and his master, Tyrus, had sought out to lock away every World Rune beyond the reach of man for the protection of Runeterra. Some complied with their pleas, others dismissed them due to their new found powers and influence. After an incident with Tyrus, Ryze later on continued his journey alone in gathering all Runic artifacts so as to prevent another Rune War from starting and possibly destroying the world.
Runeterra has a large number of sapient species. These sapient species can range from being able to use primitive tools to one's advantage to god-like feats like forging literal stars. Some sentient species are monster-like and aggressive while others less aggressive or tame. While most sentient species are animals, there are instances of plant based sentient species. Most known instances of non-sentient species are found with plants. As rich and diverse as Runeterra is, not all species are well documented. From the Shuriman Jungles to the magic wilds of the Ionian Archipelago, known only by names or by visuals, these numerous species are an enigma.
he Void screamed into existence alongside the birth of the universe—a manifestation of the unknowable nothingness that lies beyond all reality. It is not merely absence, but a force of boundless, insatiable hunger, biding its time through the eons. It waits for the signal of its masters—the enigmatic and ancient Watchers—who will one day herald the final unmaking of all things.
To be touched by the Void is to experience a glimpse of eternal unreality—an agonizing brush with a truth so alien, so absolute, that it can fracture even the strongest mind. For mortals, this contact often brings madness, corruption, or complete annihilation of self.
The creatures that emerge from the Void are constructs, shaped not by evolution but by purpose. Often barely sentient, they are bound to a singular directive: to bring about total oblivion. These beings serve as instruments of destruction, tearing through Runeterra not out of malice, but to fulfill an inevitable truth—that in the eyes of the Void, existence itself is the flaw.

Jax stood in the center of the arena, his brazier stave glowing faintly in the twilight. The crowd roared, but his focus never wavered. The thrill of the fight surged through him.
"The situations I tend to find myself in..."
He caught sight of an opponent charging, and with a casual flick of his wrist, he spun his lamppost. It clashed against steel with a satisfying ring. The opponent went down with one hit. "Is this all you've got?" Jax asked, already knowing the answer. He exits the arena followed by cheers.
"Imagine if I had a real weapon!"
"Who wants a piece of the champ?"
"Not bad! I'll have to remember that one for the road."
"Listen here, people: I'm not here to clean up your messes! This is a lamp, not a mop!"
"Fighting words! My favorite kind."
"Living through rough times makes ya appreciate the simple things, like good company... or a hard-boiled egg."
"Nothing wrong with a life of peace... Could never find one myself."
Hmm... Any good fishing spots 'round here?"
"Let's do this."
"Let me at 'em."
"Looks like I'll be carrying more than my own weight today."
