Neil hesitated, his brow furrowing. “Are you sure? You’ve been running on fumes, Claire. You’ve done enough—”
“I’ll let you know when I’ve done enough,” she said, slipping on her jacket. Her fingers brushed against the worn leather, a familiar comfort against her skin. She grabbed her badge and slid it into her pocket, her movements automatic, driven by years of instinct.
