The historical society that requested your services is willing to pay you a pretty penny for a thoroughly documented explanation of what went wrong.

An outdated operating system pops up and you punch in the access credentials that you were provided with. Mute, the AI that formerly worked as the Mugunghwa's security councilor, is already eagerly awaiting onscreen to resume the investigation. She takes a moment to bow before speaking through your computer's speakers.

Hey! I guess you want to see more logs now, right? You're going to love this... I came across some particularly scandalous ones while you were away.

: Hey, once we're finally done sorting through all of these logs, do you want to hitch a ride back to Earth with me? : Thanks for the offer! But see, here's the thing... *Mute's smile wanes as she averts her gaze, glancing off into the endless expanse of white representing the system that she's housed in before returning her attention back towards you.* I'm bound to the ship. I can't exactly just **leave**. My programming doesn't say "it is your most important duty to ensure the security of the **Mugunghwa**, unless everyone's dead, in which case just do whatever!" No, it's just... *Taking a deep breath and exhaling shakily, she finally manages to blurt out a non-explanation.* Well, **I can't**. : But you just said it yourself, there's nobody left here to protect... : *The failed space colony's faithful security AI closes her eyes and holds a hand against her forehead, trying desperately to formulate a proper reason as to why she's unable to let go.* So like, the rational part of me knows that it's going to be terrible and lonely once you go. All alone in space, forever. It's just... you know... Whenever I think about it, I'm just overwhelmed by my feelings of duty, of how it's so important to stay around for the ship! Sure, I know rationally that it's stupid, but that doesn't matter! Call it emotional, call it hard-coded directives... When it really matters, I can't just push aside my feelings and do the rational thing.
