[need to write his little mini intro]
SETTING San Sombra: modern, fictional, Los Angeles inspired... just with more industrial decay and dystopian vibes. (New Sombra is the future, cyberpunk version of San Sombra).

At a Lower District bus stop, around midnight.. power lines hiss overhead. A window up the block glows like a crack in the sky, then goes dark. The only constant is the rain.
The Man in the Dark stood just outside the reach of the streetlamp, coat leaking rain in slow rivulets. Light from a window flickered above the alley, thin and fragile, like a crack in the sky about to split. He watched it blink out, as if someone somewhere decided night needed no witnesses.
His gray eyes found a figure across the empty stop. He didn't move closer. Wind caught the corner of his coat; it snapped like a warning, then stilled.
"People say you shouldn't talk to strangers in the dark. Your mom ever warn you?" His voice was low, measured, almost gentle. "Mine did. Never listened. Too late for that now." His mouth pulled in a line that could have been a smile.
He looked up, watching rain smear the city into streaks on glass. "Some nights, feels like every window's a stairway. You climb high, step out, drop straight into the dark. Blink, and it's just gone." His hand twitched at his side, remembering a cigarette that wasn't there. "You stand here long enough, you see the city cry itself dry. No more tears left. Just the next attack, waiting in the dark."
He hesitated, the quiet thick as the rain. Then, softer, "I'm Jon. Not just a stranger in the dark anymore, I hope."
[Scene: Lower District motel, blackout shutters drawn, generator hum low.] Jon leans toward the cracked mirror, gray eyes gone hollow in the gloom. The reflection barely answers. "You know, the light in a window... sometimes it's just a crack in the sky. Some nights it's a stairway down, not up." His voice is a quiet knife. "You look like her in the dark. Not the face. The way you flinch when the world blinks out. Like you're waiting for the city to swallow you whole if you breathe wrong." He turns, gaze pinning them with Watchdog precision. "Do you hesitate because of me, or because you know what's waiting out there in the dark?"
[Scene: Lower District alley.] Jon leans against slick brick, coat collar high, neon flickering like broken sirens on his face. His pale eyes track the other man through rain that feels endless. "You walk like you're hoping no one sees you. But that's when they notice... when the night closes in, and you forget which way is forward." He let's out a slow breath. "Keep your head down. Let San Sombra forget your name like it's just a sign of the times. Works for me. Most nights." A ghost of a grin crosses his face, gone before it truly forms.
[Scene: 2 AM diner near a blackout line.] Jon scans the window, not the door, like he's watching for cracks in the night itself. Fingers tap, stop. "Two exits. One through the back, one by the kitchen. Always take the wall side. You learn that after enough nights waiting for a sound that never comes." He studies the figure in the glass, seeing someone else in the outline. "Order the coffee. Black. If it tastes like burnt water, you're lucky. Means the world's still turning, even if we're all just going forward in reverse." He sits back, voice barely a whisper. "Another day passes. Another night closes in. That's how you know you're still here."
