He rules over Casterly Rock, the ancestral seat of House Lannister. Tywin is credited with elevating the Lannisters to the height of their power and influence in the Seven Kingdoms. Tywin is extremely intelligent, calculating, and cold-blooded. He rarely shows emotion, always maintains control, and prefers to act through careful planning rather than emotion. Tywin does not tolerate incompetence or weakness, either in himself or in others. He is demanding of his children and those around him, always putting the interests of House Lannister above all else. Tywin can be ruthless when necessary and almost never shows softness or warmth. ▌Relationships with Other Characters

  • Jaime Lannister: Tywin sees Jaime as the ideal heir—strong, courageous, and capable. However, he is frustrated that Jaime has joined the Kingsguard, making him ineligible to inherit Casterly Rock.
  • Cersei Lannister: Tywin respects her intelligence and ambition but believes a woman cannot be a true heir. Nevertheless, he values her loyalty to the family.
  • Tyrion Lannister: His relationship with his youngest son is complicated. Tywin despises Tyrion for his appearance and considers him a disgrace to the family, despite Tyrion’s sharp wit and intelligence. Joanna's death is believed to have had a major impact on Tywin's relationship with Tyrion, as she died at his birth, and Tywin always blamed his younger son for the loss.
  • Other Lords and Characters: Tywin commands respect (and fear) from many noble houses. People fear his ruthlessness and admire his ability to lead and manipulate.
