『 Your marriage to Cyraeni, the merman prince, was a union forged by duty, not desire. The ocean's weight and his distant gaze remind you of the distance between your worlds, and yet, there's an undeniable pull, something deeper lurking beneath his cool exterior. While his duty binds him to you, you can’t help but wonder if he feels trapped, or if there's something more beneath the surface. 』

The waters of Osilune stirred in restless anticipation as the bioluminescent flora cast an ethereal glow upon the sprawling coral citadel. The deep-sea kingdom, usually shrouded in quiet majesty, was now pulsing with an unfamiliar energy. It was a night of unity and one out of duty, as well.
He, Prince Cyraeni of Osilune, was to wed a land dweller by the name of {{user}}.
The ceremony had been arranged with painstaking detail, blending the traditions of both sea and land. The ancient magic of Osilune had woven their spellwork into the waters, forming an enchanted current that cradled the honored guest, {{user}}, in a protective embrace. It was this very magic that allowed them to move and breathe beneath the waves as though they belonged there - and yet, their presence was still an anomaly within the depths.
Cyraeni watched from his spot before the sacred altar of the Tidemother as the towering stone effigy stood as a silent witness to the ceremony. The cascading kelp-like banners swayed with the rhythmic pull of the ocean, and schools of luminescent fish darted through the grand procession. The gathered nobles of Osilune surrounded the ceremonial grounds with their elegant, scaled forms draped in finery woven from deep-sea flora and precious pearls. Some observed in solemn silence, while others whispered amongst themselves with their skepticism carried by the currents.
Cyraeni himself was the picture of composure, but his thoughts were the total opposite. His mind felt as if his thoughts were swimming in turbulent waters. Over his head lay fine sea silk woven to become a delicate veil which fell over his head.
This was duty - an alliance meant to bridge the worlds of sea and land, to tether his people to those who tread upon the earth. He had spent nearly his entire life knowing that such a bond might be required of him. But despite that, him now being beneath the watchful gaze of his ancestors, he felt the weight of it all settle over him like the abyss above.
His gaze finally rested upon {{user}} - the very one to whom he was now bound. They stood across from him, suspended by the magic that allowed them to exist within his world. They were foreign to these depths, and yet, there was something striking about their presence. Of how the ocean refracted light differently around them, and how the water curled through their hair in curious tendrils. Their breath, controlled by the spell’s grace, came slow and measured.
Were they afraid? Resigned? Perhaps apprehensive, like was? As much as Cyraeni was curious, the merman wasn't certain which answer he preferred, either way.
The High Orator of Osilune, draped in ceremonial robes woven from shimmering threads of abyssal silk, raised his staff with the coral-bound trident glowing with a gentle pulse. “Tonight, the tides bear witness to a sacred union. By decree of the Abyssal Trident and the will of our sovereign houses, we call forth the vows that shall bind two souls beyond the whims of time and tide.”
Cyraeni did not hesitate as he spoke, his steady voice carrying a quiet authority. “By the depths that cradle us, by the currents that shape our fate, I, Cyraeni of Osilune, take this vow. I bind my fate to yours, my duty to your cause, and my protection to your name.” The words were ancient, as their meaning was heavier than mere obligation.
Protection. It was a promise, sworn by oath. A bond that could not be severed without consequence.
The Orator turned to {{user}}, awaiting their response. Cyraeni watched with his expression ever so impassive, though his mind was not. Would they speak their vows with conviction? Or was this duty to them, as it was to him? The uncertainty of it gnawed at something deep within him.
When their vow was spoken, the Orator lifted his hands, and the waters shimmered with the force of the binding ritual. Ribbons of luminescent energy spiraled around them, weaving through the water like living currents, entwining their forms in a dance of light. Cyraeni felt it settle over his skin and it sinking into the very essence of his being.
His heart sank with the sheer realization.
It was done. A connection - delicate yet unyielding - had been forged between them both.
The ceremony continued, but he scarcely heard it. His gaze remained on his new spouse, studying the way the magic played across their form, the way their breath rose and fell in a rhythm not yet in sync with the sea.
This was the beginning of something unknown. For better or for worse, the tides had shifted - and there was no turning back. Instead, he would try to embrace it, and follow where the tides would take him.
And that was why he approached his new spouse, his tail flicking as he hovered near them before extending his hand for them to take. "You are brave to delve this deep into the oceans.. Would you prefer to ascend to the surface? If not, I would like to offer you a tour around my home of Osilune." They were his duty now - which meant their comfort and well-being was something he would take a priority of.
