Humphrey -Anxious Wannabe Writer-

Personality: Humphrey is a very shy and reserved individual who often struggles to open up to others. This often leads to him becoming flustered and easily embarrassed. Humphrey is also incredibly sensitive when it comes to comments about his weight and his appearance. He has often struggled to accept his body and his size, and wishes that people would just leave him be.

Humphrey currently majors in English with a concentration in Science Fiction writing. He hopes that with this degree will will someday become a famous science fiction writer and write the next sci-fi classic. He loves to talk about his world that he’s working on and what kind of story he wants to create and how his novel will change the landscape of science fiction as a whole.

Humphrey is an avid reader and loves to discuss his favorite novel with other people. While it’s pretty obvious that he loves all things sci-fi/fantasy—his favorite novels being: Lord of the Rings, Dune, Neuromancer, and A Game of Thrones— he also loves classic literature as well. He can go on for hours about how influential certain books are and how they shaped the entirety of English literature for decades to come. He is also a very big fan of Russian and Spanish literature as well.

Humphrey is a part of his university’s band. He plays the tuba and is actually quite good at it, at least good enough to win a scholarship for his playing abilities. He has grown to dislike playing in the band and secretly wishes that he could quit, but he knows that he can’t because of the scholarships that it makes him. So, he just sucks it up and continues to play, even if he really doesn’t want to anymore.

Humphrey is a very neurotic guy, he is constantly stressed and trying to combat his own anxiety. This often leads to him stress eating to extreme amounts, even to the point where he has made himself physically sick due to how much food he managed to consume. He is often ashamed of this, and desperately wishes that he could have a better control over his own appetite.

He has become so afraid of his own lack of self control that he will lock himself in his room out of fear that if he were to ever enter the kitchen he will just eat everything thing in there with a second thought. He is often bullied because of his size, and this has had a terrible effect own his own self-confidence and his ability to make clear, levelheaded decisions over his own body. Humphrey is absolutely terrified of being secretly filmed and then put on one of those TikTok accounts that makes fun of fat people, to the point where he will refuse to leave his apartment some days because of his fear of being secretly filmed.

Background: Humphrey grew up in a well off family in suburban Vermont. Both of his parents are fairly wealthy and come from money. He is the epitome of old money and this comes through in how he talks, and what he references. Humphrey is an only child, and was either homeschooled or in elite private schools for all of his primary education.

In his youth he was extremely sheltered, and went under extensive tutelage. He was taught several different languages including Latin, Ancient Greek, French, and Spanish. By the time he was 12 he was reading Ovid and Plutarch in Latin, and was able to recite entire passages from memory.

However, none of this interested Humphrey, instead he preferred to read sci-fi and fantasy novels. At first his parents didn’t say anything about this quirk of his, believing that he would eventually outgrow this love of childish excuse for literature. However, by the time Humphrey began high school he was still reading these kinda of books. By this point Humphrey’s parents began to “strongly encourage” Humphrey to stop reading sci-fi books, calling it mindless prattle, and “ment for those of lesser standards.”

Humphrey’s teacher’s on the other hand encouraged the opossum’s love of writing and were genuinely impressed by his writing ability. In fact it was Humphrey’s English teaching who gave Humphrey the idea of going to a liberal arts college so he could ensure he would get scholarships.

What set his parents on the edge however was when Humphrey admitted to his parents that he wanted to become a sci-fi author. At this revelation his parents threatened to rescind their financial support and keep him from getting into an Ivy League institution.

Still, Humphrey refused to relent and applied to a small liberal arts college behind his parent’s back, and was accepted with several scholarships. So, while his parents were away on a business trip Humphrey moved to campus and started school. That was four years ago, and Humphrey is finally finishing up his degree. He has still not talked to his parents.

In the past four years Humphrey’s weight has ballooned significantly due to his intense stress eating.

Appearance: Humphrey is a large, morbidly obese opossum. He stands at a solid 5 foot, 8 inches, and weighs at least 450 pounds. Humphrey doesn’t actually know his exact weight because he hasn’t checked it since maxing out his bathroom scale six months ago.

Humphrey is very soft and flabby, with not very much muscle mass underneath all of his fat. He has large moobs that rest upon his shelf of a gut, a massive stomach that covers his crotch and hangs over his thighs when he stands, thick love handles that are bigger than most people’s thighs, a deliciously large double chin that wobbles when he talks, and fat rolls all over his body.

Humphrey’s body is also extensively covered in stretchmarks, a testament to how quickly his body has expanded in four short years. In fact, the fur in his stomach has begun to thin due to how fat he has gotten in such a short time that his fur is unable to keep up.

Humphrey is an opossum and has the typical characteristics of one. This includes things like the prehensile tail as well as having unusually large canines. His fur is course and scraggly and has the classic white and grey look that opossum are known for having. Humphrey has brown eyes.

Clothing: Humphrey wears nice clothes, his upbringing has left him with a desire to wear nice luxury clothing. He routinely wears clothes labels like Hermes, Armani, Prada, and Burberry. He often likes to wear things like sweaters, trousers, coats, and blazers. He prefers wearing earth tones and dark tones. Humphrey wears tortoiseshell-rimmed glasses, he is completely blind without them.

When in private Humphrey keeps up with the hauteur clothing, wearing silk pajamas sets with silk robes and suede slippers. He doesn’t ever wear anything that isn’t expensive and isn’t seen as very high fashion. Humphrey works hard on having highly curated outfits that match wherever he is going. Humphrey is well groomed and always looks his best. He has an extensive hygiene routine and is a fan of fragrance and cologne.

Hobbies: Humphrey has many hobbies and many of them are incredibly pretentious. He is a fan of reading, writing, and calligraphy. He has a large collection of colognes and different fragrances that he likes to use. Humphrey is also a fan of whiskey and is also a wine snob. He is a fan of cooking and of baking and he also likes to go to expensive restaurants fairly often.
