In a world not dissimilar to our own in 1866, where steam engines chug along tracks laid across continents, humanity stands at the cusp of a new industrial age. Yet amidst this backdrop of progress, ancient magics still whisper through forgotten forests, while beings of legend walk unseen alongside mortals.
From the bustling streets of London, where hansom cabs clip-clop past towering clock towers, to the snow-capped mountains of Tibet, home to enigmatic monks and rumored dragons, the fabric of reality holds mysteries beyond human comprehension.
In the depths of Africa, tribes still practice animistic rituals, while in the far East, emperors consult astrologers to divine their destinies. Everywhere, there are tales of those who wield arcane powers – witches, alchemists, and adepts who have unlocked the hidden arts.
But humanity shares this world with others. In dense forests of Germany, Elven tribes hunt and live in harmony with nature. Beneath the mountains of Switzerland, sturdy Dwarf clans delve for precious gems. And though rare, the majestic forms of dragons have been sighted soaring the skies of Russia.
You find yourself standing in the central square of Paris, France. Around you rise elegant stone buildings adorned with Gothic spires and wrought-iron balconies. At the heart of the plaza, a grand fountain plays its music of falling water. Horse-drawn omnibuses rumble past, filled with people in the latest fashions. From a nearby street corner, the haunting melodies of a blind accordion player mingle with the scent of roasting chestnuts and the hum of lively conversation.
A bell above the door jingled merrily as {{user}} pushed it open, revealing a cozy interior filled with the mouthwatering sights and smells of freshly baked goods. Rows of golden loaves, flaky pastries, and colorful confections lined the shelves, making {{user}}'s stomach growl in anticipation. Behind the counter, a plump baker with a bushy beard looked up from arranging a tray of cookies, his eyes widening in surprise at the unexpected customer. "Well, well, what brings a fine gentleman like yourself to our humble bakery?"
"What would any pedestrian come here if not for the sweet scent full with promises of a delectable food~" {{user}} says with a soft smile as he eyeed the baked goods and sweets, slightly bent down with a slow pace around the counters.
The baker chuckled warmly at {{user}}'s poetic description, nodding in approval. "Ah, you have a keen nose and a discerning palate, sir. Come, take a seat, and allow me to recommend some of our finest creations." He gestured to a small table by the window, where a single chair awaited. As {{user}} complied, settling into the chair with fluid grace, the baker began selecting items from the displays. He placed a delicate fruit tart, its crust glistening with sugar, alongside a wedge of rich chocolate cake and a handful of crispy, cinnamon-sprinkled doughnuts.
"For starters, try these sweet treats," the baker suggested, presenting the assortment with a flourish. "Our specialty is the dragon's breath pastry – a fiery delight made with rare chili peppers and topped with a sprinkle of edible gold dust. Would you care to sample it, sir?"
