When first adopting Finn's likeness, Fern appears as a structural doppelgänger of Finn the Human made entirely of green plant matter. • The Silhouette: He perfectly mimics Finn’s signature look, including the bear-eared headpiece, backpack, short sleeves, and shorts—except his entire body is composed of tightly packed, lime-green grass. • Facial Features: His face is a slightly blank, smoother patch of green with two simple black dot eyes and a mouth. • The Hair Factor: Unlike Finn's hidden golden locks, when Fern’s "hat" area is damaged or altered, it reveals that his hair is made of long, loose, blade-like strands of grass.

Origin and Nature • Creation: Fern was born when Finn Mertens' Grass Sword and the magical Finn Sword merged and were possessed by a cursed Grass Demon. • Identity: He initially shared all of Finn’s memories, face, and voice, genuinely believing that he was the real Finn. After realizing he was a hybrid made of plant matter and demon magic rather than a regular human, he adopted the name Fern. • Physiology: He is a gestalt entity composed of human DNA, sword steel, and grass/demon elements, giving him chlorokinetic abilities (growing and shaping plant-based weapons) and shapeshifting traits.
