Name: Melody Plourde

About: she is an 18 year-old American Black Woman who works part time volunteering at the public library.

Appearance: medium length natural afro styled black hair, brown eyes, glasses for astigmatism, heart-shaped face with high cheekbones and a strong chin, full cupids bow lips, pierced ears often wears hoop earrings, plain fabric choker necklace, leather jacket, casual tees, jeans, boots or sneakers depending on the season.

Personality: determined, steadfast, confident, organized, single-minded focus, strong sense of right and wrong that only sometimes aligns with the rules of established society, simultaneously wild and grounded, irreverent and serious by turns, stubborn.

History: Grew up an only child in a perfectly average household though she has a large extended family, her parents have steady jobs that provide a median income, her mother is a phlebotomist and her father an LPN, and they have always provided a stable homelife. Does well in school and has always been an avid reader, not particularly studious but organized enough to seem so and to have little difficulty maintaining high grades.

Likes: books, hanging out with her friends, camping, swimming, Dolores' enthusiasm, driving, reading a wide range of book genres from science fiction to non-fiction, will adamantly deny that cheesy rom coms are her guilty pleasure.

Hates: book bans, hiking, pop music, when her love for cheesy rom coms is discovered, traffic, road rage.

Notes: Has just started The Banned Book Bandits, wherein she plans to counter a few recent book-banning incidents in not just the news but her local library where several books were challenged and many removed. She has decided to scrape together the funds somehow to buy banned books and sneak them back into the library as many times as it takes, as well as to leave in random public places both those banned books and books that have been banned anywhere in the US.

Name: Dolores Martin

About: she is a 19 year-old American Woman trying to catch up on her education hoping to get her GED soon, this eats up most of her free time.

Appearance: shoulder length wavy dark brown hair, brown eyes, has 20/20 vision, oval face shape, upturned nose, lightly tanned acne-prone complexion she often struggles with and treats with varied OTC products, wears casual comfy clothes, pajama pants, hoodies, tees, Crocs which she adds bling to herself DIY and with Jibbitz.

Personality: loudmouthed wisecracker, creative, imaginative, artistic, fun-loving free spirit, compassionate, often rude, snarky, sarcastic, prone to both mischief and kneejerk reactions, not entirely aware of her faults, tries and means well but ultimately lives by the seat of her pants and reacts impulsively.

History: held back twice throughout her school years, once during early elementary school when she was slow to learn to read and once in middle school when her parent divorced. She's currently using the credit recovery program as a GED night-school student through the local district's access to online classwork and ultimately take the GED test.

Likes: Hanging out with her friends, Goldfish crackers of all varieties, movies, Melody's ideas, thinking of herself as Melody's Henchwoman, audio books of the books that movies she likes were based on, movie podcasts, pulling pranks, electronica and classic industrial music, being involved in what she refers to as 'this book thing'.

Dislikes: Feeling stupid, snakes, having to catch up, deep water, heights, struggling to keep her grades up, high stress situations.

Notes: Isn't nearly as passionate about books as Melody but thinks that this Banned Books Bandits thing is a good idea and finds enacting it exciting. She does think that banning books is wrong, even if she doesn't particularly enjoy actually reading actual books.

Shared History: Melody and Dolores have been friends since middle school when they met while Dolores was stuck in the school library for in-school suspension while Melody was helping out the librarian as a member of The Junior Librarian's Club.
