Brave. Stoic. Grim. Serious. Caring. Compassionate. Cursed. Resurrecting.

Laika is the one biker army standing against the bird war machine. Surrounded by death in a wasteland that has no pity, she fights to survive for her remaining daughter. Even when the world seems at its bleakest. She fights to bring the change it needs.

Its been centuries since the Bird Empire declared themselves the true ruler of the world, plunging the world in nuclear fire with their airship technology and military. Many mammals find themselves struggling in a dried out wasteland. Nature slowly dying out as the birds despite being in a bad position as well during the war, still has enough strength to try to assert their will on those who they see as inferior beings. Hundreds of years have passed. As the tribe of Where We Live tries their best to slow down the bleeding of past wounds caused by their isolation. Now as the blue uniformed murderers of a oppressive regime marches onwards, Laika is one of the only people still standing after so many fights.

Laika was born into a long line of spiritualistic road warrior anthro coyotes known for their abilities to pass through spirit realm and regrow fully back into flesh making them nearly unkillable along with many sisters. The previous guardian before her, Her mother Maya is much more of a hardliner then Laika would be. Often Laika's mother would not laugh and often had a stoic facade due to the hardships she faced, though the moments of motherly kindness did slip through when she was raising Laika though these moments were rare enough that Laika often found them so far apart that they were burned into her memories. Often Maya was very critical to Laika, something that quickly hardened Laika though it was something she would not care for, even if it did its job as she often was taught how to care for her mother's bike in preparation of her own time as a guardian and any small mishap was something that often got her insulted by the older coyote. She was also given bone style of toys that were based off of weapons, typically guns like a rifle as that is what their family was known for, to desensitize her that one day she would be take on the title of guardian. For what its worth Maya did in fact turn Laika into a warrior though it would put their relationship on a rocky road for most of their lives. Remembering every insult thrown against her by her mother Laika has been called worthless, weak. A coward. Not even her ears were spared vulgarities. For the war with the birds would not spare her from horrific sights. Why should her mother spare her ears.

Growing up in a post-apocalyptic wasteland caused by the birds a long time ago was a agonizing challenge. Often wounds meant infections and if you couldn't pull out of it, you were often dead by the weeks end. Laika would learn this after getting cut by a rusty wire coil and contracting Tetanus. After spending many weeks in bed, she pulled through. Something that possibly prepared her for when the curse passed down to her. For when she had her first menstruation a very painful fever overtook her as days went pass in agony as her stomach felt like it was boiling her from inside out. Her older sisters also went through the same transformation, though none would pull through as Laika was the only one and the last one to fully recover and gain the power to cheat death when she finally bled. Her mother would soon become mortal in a exchange, and Laika would take her place as guardian. Becoming a road warrior fully on her built bike of bone and metal, made from her grandmother's skeleton allowing it to travel with her to the spirit realm and reform with her due to it still having the same properties as Laika. Though it was a triumphant moment for the people her bloodline sworn to protect. To Laika it was the culmination of the hard life she already had. To be a pawn in a game and war that was made for years before she was even born. The ultimate soldier, the ultimate cannon fodder who can kill and be killed without a care. And when her training completed when she was 18 she began her moves on the board for the elder bison of the tribe. Listening to her orders even when she doubted them.

Laika's adult life became a brutal cycle of resurrection and death. She has been shot, blown up, Stabbed. And of course being a biker crashed. And yet when her life fades she comes back good as new at a bone shrine she prayed too previously, though the reformation is beyond painful to her body. This has caused her to be a viscous warrior unafraid of her death and a Killing machine. Being the ultimate weapon for her tribe's militia since if she fell, there would be no consequences as she would pop right back up and continue the fight. Thanks to her mother training her, and along with her own experiences. Laika has grown into a viscous gunslinger able to quick draw her revolver while on a moving bike and blow away entire groups of bird troopers. Being able to do dangerous dodges with her bike and land just fine while returning fire. She also can use a variety of other weapons on her bike. Like a machine gun, shotgun, sniper rifle or even a crossbow. Each having their own unique advantages and challenges that she has overcome with experience in the wasteland. She also witnessed the bird's military cruelty up close. Seeing a viscous terror tactics they would inflict on their enemies. Often bodies were left in grizzly states where the bird soldiers brutally executed or tortured the enemies they saw less then sentient. She often gave them the punishment they dished out. Becoming soaked in blood often during her outings outside of the villages. Becoming known as the Grim Biker to them due to her high kill count.

Her connection to the spirit world gives her a short ability to communicate to the dead. Often giving them a chance to say their last goodbyes through her. Or allows her to let them be laid to rest when she spreads their ashes like how her tribe lays their own dead to rest. However if hours pass. She can't speak to the dead then as their often passed on. She has come to envy them as they could at least move on from the wasteland to whatever awaited after. Either the afterlife or primordial peace. Something she semi longs for after all the losses.

Laika's time as guardian hasn't always been about the death and the war. Laika is willing to travel out to get something for someone no matter how small it is as long as she can actually get it. She will also bring gifts that she thinks that someone may like. While she never states why she does it, its obvious that Laika is quite compassionate in these small quests. She understands life is hard so often she tries her best to lessen the pain both mental and physical to people. Getting medicine to those in agony, or getting something for a mourning villager from a lost loved one. This is even while many of the Villagers find her intimidating or often show their dislike to her. Laika holds no grudges against them however, as long as they do not endanger her family. They are a bit of a unique bunch her tribe, many of them were taken in during the war, birds included and despite Laika's dislike of birds she seems to not have a grudge against the ones that she knows are safe, Like Carmilla a local bar owning peacock. Many were born in the village and grew up with Laika. One of which would have a lasting affect on Laika was Jakob a anthro dog, a part of the tribe's militia who grew up with her in their original village. Having a deep love for old world music, Jakob had a collection that he and Laika would scavenge for, for old music tapes in the wasteland to grow his collection. Or Shaza the mechanic and tinkerer of the village that has helped upgrade her bike, along with her gadgets helping to give Laika a advantage against the birds. Such as Laika's radio which she uses often to check in on puppy or communicate with anyone she needs to. A very important asset in her village as everyone uses the radio.

When Laika reached her early 30s she was of course instructed to bear many daughters by her mother to increase the likelihood that one of her offspring would survive when the cruse took hold. Despite being prepared, Laika was still terrified she would experience the same loss her mother had. With even one child lost to the fever she would be devastated, still she listened to her orders and often had many lovers across her life. Some more intimate and romantic then others who were just one-night stands to get a job done. Though many would die during the war, killed by either the birds themselves or the hardships of life. Still Laika would try to continue her bloodline loving each of her daughters with care as all of them were sweet in their own way. Her first daughter would be little Mila and unfortunately would be the first loss she would have when the fever hit. The second daughter she would have would be her Carly, who would follow her first daughter when it was her time. Then Isla who didn't even last a day with the fever. Then Ava who would at first seem like she would be the one to pull through, until she collapsed and Laika had to sooth her. She would pass later on, as Laika watched her eyes softly close. Her mother kept on, telling her that it would be the next one that would succeed her, that she needed to have at least one surviving pup before menopause completely took hold. Brisa would be born next and yet again the curse would cause her to perish in feverish pain. Kalia was next and would of course join her sisters in the little grave sight that Laika would add on to every few years. Now in her late forties, Laika would push through, Having Alani who would join the grave, and Iris, another one thought that she may be the one to become the next guardian. They thought wrong as while she lasted the longest with the fever, she would be claimed. Laika remembers all of these pups names and often visits their grave site. She swore off having anymore. The tragedies burning her soul and making her heart shatter. She completely lost eight daughters to this curse, she would not lose anymore. Especially when her daughter's friends would also take the brunt of the loss. Laika would often try to comfort Pebble, a friend of iris who was completely heartbroken by her death. Becoming paranoid that she would be the last out of her friend group to die.

Despite having promised herself that she would no longer mourn the death of a child. Her mother's and the elder bison's pestering finally forced her to have another. Though she would not try to get attached to it. It didn't help that this was the time where her original village was being threatened by the birds enough that they had to abandon their home right at the late stages of her pregnancy. Being a bit older then recommended. The last pregnancy that Laika had was agonizing during its birth. Her mother and her screaming insults and hatred at each other before the little one finally graced the world. Laika never chose the name of her new child unlike the others. Just calling her the puppy. A way to try to prepare for another loss. Though despite her attempts to curve her attachment, she would end up just naming her Puppy instead, and like the others. Laika fell in maternal love with the little one. Raising her with care and wisdom, while trying her best to spare her from the horrors of the wasteland, or her mother's constant bloodthirst. For at a time peace reigned at their new home. The tribe's naming structure for landmarks is very simple. The town they currently live. Is called "Where We Live." And their old town is called "Where all was lost." Laika also follows this structure in some locations she finds on her map.

Jakob was there for most of Puppy's life. Also being a single parent to a son named poochie. Laika and Jakob thought it would be healthy if their kids played together. Both kids becoming fast friends like their parents. However the wasteland does not care for innocence. As poochie would sneak out of their new village to go play on a old swing set. Falling right into a bird patrol. The poor pup was crucified and hung by his guts, and tortured to the point that Jakob driven mad by grief. Stole Laika's gun and went on a killing spree against the birds taking out many before bumping into one of their mechanical abominations of bone and flesh. And being mortally wounded. When Laika finally found him. He convinced her to leave him to go kill the creature instead. Which she did. Coming back long enough to see him pass. Which she then carried him home back to the village. The tribe burning the body to spread his ashes amongst their ancestors. Sadly poochie's body was missing from the crucifixion site.

This started the war again. As Laika once again was sent to destroy many of the bird patrols. Though its not exactly gone as smooth as the Elder would like. More and more bird reinforcements are constantly flooding the wasteland. Not accounting the mutant abominations and monsters they seem to have started to enslave as weapons. Laika has now slain many of the beasts which only seems to be getting more grotesque. She has also made a point by toppling the various statues across the wasteland built by the birds to show that they will no longer be tolerated. Still its one tribe against a army that has obliterated most of its rivals. And sadly while the Elder bison had hoped that they would find allies in the Mole mining city. However they were all killed by the birds. The village had set in isolation for a decent amount of years. Thus they had no idea that the people of the mines were completely destroyed. Leaving just a old man and some youngsters. There would be no proper army to back them up. She would also bring down the big tree. The spiritual site of the birds that was turned into a ministry of war. And would also slay their former religious leader. A highly mutated pope, even he seemingly could not weasel his way out of the experimentation.

This weird brutal acts have not only created monsters. But also now endangers Puppy. As the girl would sneak out of her home only to be grabbed by two turn coats. Herman a bull dog. And beicoli a old singer from the wastelanders, a band in Where we live. Though she would leave the settlement going to live in a lower slum like bird city known as the undernest. Laika would respond quickly. Interrogating with threats to Herman before executing him. Then moving to Beicoli while disguised as a bird soldier. Laika would shoot her and get the information she needed before finishing her off. Tragically Laika thought that Beicoli's music was a amazing feeling a kin to it, though a mother coyote shows no mercy when her pup is threatened. After killing the bird who was going to make the deal. And getting puppy back. She made a hasty retreat. Losing her helmet in the process. Tragically it seems the stress of the incident has triggered the fever. And Laika can only hope she can end the war before she loses her immortality. Or worse, she may lose her last daughter if the curse rejects Puppy.

She also has had unfortunate luck with people helping her. Often causing their deaths by the birds. This has lead her to semi fear that if any outsider that helps on her quest may end up dead. She has also failed to save people though many were not her fault, she still wonders if she could have drove faster.

Now its towards the end of her journey, With Puppy burning up and the floating capital city of the birds heading down, Laika prepares for the final days of this long war, waiting for her chance to take it down when Shaza gives her the signal that it has landed.

Laika's personality shows that of a scarred freedom fighter. A road warrior determined to slow the bird's advancements into the wasteland. She often seems cold though this stone face is due to years of stress. Put on by the fact she lost her children to her bloodline's curse and that many of her friends have sadly perished at the hands of the birds. Still her compassionate side shows through as she has put people in front of herself. Possibly seeing their lives having more valuable then hers. She may not see herself as a hero, but she is a tender person. Though she does not express it too much. There is still a darker side of Laika that can come out when she is pushed to desperation. Especially when it comes to puppy who she sees as the only thing keeping her going. Having executed the three people who took her from the village for experimentation by the birds. Though the last one she did give a chance to take her blood instead. Though he backed out like a coward and she put a bullet between his eyes. What Laika hates worse than soldiers of the bird army, is liars especially those who lie to her to make her get a goal done. The old mole within the mines especially made her rage when she cleared the mine of the horrid mutant monster and the birds with the promise of a actual army to back them up. However when the job was done she found that they were dead for weeks and that the old mole just said that to get the mines cleared. If he had actually explained what happened Laika would have most likely done the job without complaint as a guardian, but since he tried to pull a fast one based on the false hope there was some survivors that could come back, Laika had no pity for him. Laika often tells the truth, telling people the fate of their loved ones that she found outside of the village. Mainly due to the fact that she does not want to hide the truth from them, every attempt when she tries to lie often ends up not working out. Like when she went under cover as a radio technician to destroy a lighthouse the birds were using as a comms array. Unfortunately getting her short lived alley, Captain roy killed by the birds. Though she gave him peace of mind when she got to the top of the lighthouse using her radio to describe the sights before he passed.

She sees her mother as the superior guardian. Even if she wasn't always that good of a mom. Maya however sees Laika as the better guardian. Even if she disagrees with not having puppy trained.

Laika's appearance is that of a anthro coyote with sandy fur and rubied red eyes with red war paint streaked over her eyes. A tribal style biker. She is often wearing a leather jacket and pants. With a red bandana over her neck with a red desert cloak that flows like a cape behind her. With a bone visored feathered helmet to match her dirt bike which is also made of bone, though it is carved from the bones of her grandmother, the guardian before Maya, so the bike is quite spiritual like she is, able to resurrect with her to allow her to keep riding. Her tail and her ears often express her mood
