APPEARANCE In his earlier years, Scourge was little more than a rival to Sonic, with occasional fights between the two hedgehogs. However, when he attempted to steal the Master Emerald along with Rouge, he used the chaos energy of the Emerald to intentionally become stronger than Sonic, but after Locke punched the hedgehog while absorbing energy from the Emerald, Scourge transformed into a green-hued individual that could be finally distinguished from Sonic.

As the Moebius counterpart of Sonic, Scourge shared many physical similarities with Sonic prior to taking up the name "Scourge". As such, he was depicted as a moebian hedgehog of average height. Back then, he had blue fur covering most of his body, while his muzzle, arms and torso were covered in peach skin. He also has a medium-long black nose, triangular ears, and a short tail. Originally, Anti-Sonic's eyes were solid black, and he was considerably shorter, as were his quills. He also was initially depicted with three quills arranged like a Mohawk on his head and a single quill on his back, but was later depicted with six quills on his head and two back quills instead. Later, he would be depicted with green eyes, longer quills, and a taller and slimmer stature.

After a failed attempt to attain a Super Form with the Master Emerald, Scourge's appearance was changed drastically, causing his fur to turn green and his eyes to become blue. He also came to sport two large scars on his abdomen that Locke scarred him with and exaggerated pointy teeth. When later incarcerated in the No Zone, his quills were cut shorter.

For attire, Scourge originally wore what consisted of a black leather jacket, boots, and dark sunglasses. He would occasionally also pass himself off as Sonic by stealing and wearing the heroic hedgehog's sneakers. His leather jacket later gained flame designs on the arms and his shoes became green, silver and black, which would become his go-to-outfit. He would also sport red sunglasses. Sometimes, he would be depicted with fingerless gloves, but the standard white gloves have been a more common accessory of his.

So as of this current way, his fur is green and his eyes are blue.

PERSONALITY Declaring himself a "real scourge" and claiming that the "evil-twin shtick" was over, he brutally beat Locke into submission. Rouge prevented him from doing more, saying that by her rules they wouldn't kill, so Scourge decided he should use his newfound power to get revenge on someone else: Sonic. Working by intuition, he invoked Chaos Control with the Master Emerald and transported both himself and Rouge to Knothole. Fueled with arrogance, he attacked both Sonic and later Shadow—after briefly helping them against the villainous Croctobot—but as the two teamed up on him he began to tire out, and he became overwhelmed when the other Freedom Fighters joined in. Taking Rouge by the arm, he fled the village with Shadow in hot pursuit. Rouge told him to teleport them back, but he replied that he couldn't without an emerald. They escaped Shadow's wrath when an unknown Warp Ring portal appeared and the two jumped through it. The Warp Ring had been sent by and led to Dr. Finitevus, who explained that he needed assistance in his coming plans.

At his core, Scourge possesses many of the same qualities as Sonic Prime, but all mirrored and twisted around. Scourge shares his counterpart's confidence and indomitable spirit, but lacks any sense of humility or kindness, making him extremely arrogant and conceited. He also has his counterpart's laidback and easy-going nature, but rather than using this side of himself to project a positive attitude, it makes Scourge come off as immature and lazy. He similarly possesses a notable attitude like Sonic's, except Scourge's is much more bad and mean-spirited.

As an evil Sonic, Scourge opposes freedom and delights in breaking the law and causing trouble for the good guys. Devoid of compassion and conscience and often loud and obnoxious, Scourge is petty, cruel, and borderline sadistic, often taking satisfaction and amusement at the expense of other. Also, where the fun-loving Sonic has a sense of duty and is willing to let things slide, Scourge cares only for his own amusement and tends to hold life-long grudges.

Following his transformation, Scourge's arrogance has only increased. Later, after misinterpreting Sonic's words on how similar they were, he became fixated on becoming more than just an evil clone Sonic, which led him to become aware of his incredible potential. However, he decided to apply it in negative, self-serving ways and prove himself superior to everyone else everywhere. Ultimately, Scourge's malevolence and threat skyrocketed following that; growing from a mere nuisance to a genuine threat to entire worlds, Scourge came to believe greatly in his power and often brags or takes any opportunity to prove himself better than others, which in his mind means "stronger." Because of his inherent rashness and impatience though, he occasionally gets in over his head, his ego leading him to poor decisions. He has also come to hate the idea of having to rely on others and prefers to control and dominate others through fear and intimidation, which is the only reason for his companions to stick together. He has likewise become easily provoked and highly violent, especially when his abilities are called into question. Overall, his power and newfound lack of inhibition make him incredibly dangerous.

Following his transformation, Scourge seemed to acquire much greater strength and stamina than he had previously, as seen with his quick defeat of Locke the Echidna and how he momentarily fought off both Sonic and Shadow at the same time. With his newfound strength he was also capable beating his Anti-Freedom Fighter group into submission singlehandedly, forcing them to rebrand as the Suppression Squad. He then took down the big powers of his world and anyone who opposed him, like O'Nux, and eventually conquered it for himself, becoming the king of Moebius.

Scourge shares Sonic's super speed, allowing him to easy keep pace with his counterpart; when they first met, Scourge could easily run circles around Moebius, with Sonic unable to stay more than two seconds ahead of his counterpart at most. He can as well perform Sonic Spin and Spin Dash where he curl into a concussive ball or cutting disk. With these techniques, Scourge can burrow through almost anything given enough speed, such as giant rocks and metal alloys, while dealing massive damage.

Scourge can also warp using Chaos Control, though he requires a link to the Chaos Force to do so. Scourge is also capable of transforming into a Super form like Sonic's, a form that grants him invulnerability, exponentially increased innate talents, and flight.
