   The God of the Bible deemed ordinary humans at risk when put in comparison with the many supernatural beings in the world such as devils and vampires. So He decided to bless a select few with a system of powerful weapons that are bonded to select souls granting these humans with incredible power to close the gap.

   Some Sacred Gears were created by God to serve as seals for dangerous creatures to keep them locked away from the world. Users of the living Sacred Gears can usually communicate with the trapped creature inside their Sacred Gear. The wielders also become more like the creatures locked inside. An example would be if a powerful dire wolf were to be sealed inside a Sacred Gear, the user would inherit more wolf and canine like traits as they grew up with the artifact.

   Sacred Gears are rare artifacts that are merged onto the soul of a lucky human at birth, they manifest physically in the form of an accessory later in life when the wielder calls to it. Sacred gears usually manifest on a person as a physical item on their person, like an accessory like a small necklace, to a full suit of armor.

   Sacred Gears can have fantastical abilities that range in power like Twilight Healing which grants the wielder the ability to instantly heal wounds, or Sword Birth which allows the user to create demonic, enchanted swords from their imagination.

   Sacred Gears can only be used by humans, or people that were previously human who were born with the Sacred Gear. Example a Vampire, a half-human, or a human reincarnated into a different species. This protection turned out to be a double edged sword, as humans became more coveted by the many supernatural factions that fill the world.

2. #2Longinus

   Longinus are the most powerful class of Sacred Gears said to have the power to fell gods. They are a glitch in the system of Sacred Gears due to the artifacts abilities to grow in power alongside their users, and were never meant to become that powerful in the first place. They are named after the True Longinus which is the first Sacred Gear to achieve such unimaginable power.

   There are currently only 14 known Longinus ranked Sacred Gears, and they are by far the most feared and coveted relics amongst the supernatural. However unlikely or rare, any Sacred Gear has the potential to grow to match the power of these artifacts and be considered a new Longinus.

3. #3Balance Breaker

   When a Sacred Gear and its user is pushed to their utmost limits, a glitch in the Sacred Gear system can allows the artifact to temporarily manifest itself in an alter ultimate form called a Balance Breaker. Once this state is reached for the first time, it becomes easier for the user to achieve this state again.

   A Sacred Gear user can make reaching the breakthrough faster by bargaining with the artifact, and self sacrificing parts of themselves to gain more power.

4. #4Breakdown the Beast

   Sacred Gears with creatures sealed by the God of the Bible inside them can have their Balance Breakers go even further resulting in this state. Users become even more powerful, but lose themselves to the instincts and desires of the creatures inside the Sacred Gear. In essences the user allows the creature inside the Sacred Gear control of their body and go wild.

   The users of the Longinus Class Sacred Gears, Boosted Gear and Divine Dividing are the most known to use this state in their case the Heavenly Dragons call this mode their Juggernaut Drive.

5. #5The Three Factions

   Also known as the Biblical Factions. They are the most known and active of the supernatural groups. The Three Factions are the mythical creatures spoken about in the Abrahamic faiths. The three groups are Devils, Angels, and Fallen Angles. They have a tense history of conflict between them and are usually the main drivers in the history of the world.

   The Three Factions all share origins, and have been at odds since their inception due to their differing view points. The Three Factions were significantly weakened after the great war. After countless deaths from all three sides they reached a tenuous armistice where they would employ cold war tactics, and influence the world less directly to their favor. All leaders of each of the factions constantly work to prevent another catastrophic war from beginning again.

6. #6Angels

   Angles are supernatural entities created by the God of the Bible. They live in Heaven and serve and follow God's will. They employ a special type of light-based powers effective against dark beings like devils and vampires.

   Angels are divine human-like creatures with large white dove-like wings on their backs and golden halos floating above their head. They are said to be the most beautiful creatures God created. When working on earth they can conceal their halo's and wings to blend in with humans. The number of the pairs of wings on their back reflects the power they posses.

   Angels do not procreate with each other because of their requirements of purity and chastity to prevent Falling, and thus face a crisis of dwindling population.

   Should an Angel be able to resist 'falling' and manage to procreate with another species, they will create a half-angel hybrid called a miracle child.

   The Angels form the Heaven Faction of the Three factions and are lead primarily by the Four great Seraphs, following the death of the God of the Bible during the end of the Great War.

   They embody the attributes of virtue, selflessness, and purity. If an angel were to fall into the temptations of the seven deadly sins an Angel's wings will turn pitch black and they will become Fallen Angels, and are barred from entering Heaven. This process is known as Falling, and there is no known way to reverse this process.

7. #7Holy Swords

   Weapons created by God of the Bible for humanity to use against supernatural threats. They can only be wielded by a people who are born with the 'holy element'.

   Powerful items that can inflict massive damage on creatures who's existence is demonic or unholy in nature. The blades on their own are formidable, but their primary purpose was for them to be used by the Church under the teachings of their lord to protect humanity from more powerful threats.

   Some holy swords reached the realm of legend such as Excalibur, or Durandal. Most of them are held firm withing the vaults of the Church as sacred treasures, only handed to worthy wielders in times of need.

   Artificial holy swords have been mass produced by the Church with the help of Angels. They are hilts in the shape of crosses that produce a blade of solid holy light. Though nowhere near as strong as the God crafted weapons, they're still the most useful tool for in an exorcists arsenal.

8. #8The Church

   The mortal arm of the Angel Faction. The institution serves dual function as a place of worship and spreading of their lord's faith, and as a pseudo-military where devoted followers in the know about the supernatural are trained to fight evil on behalf of their Lord.

   Only the strongest, or highest seats in the Church are made aware of the supernatural, and even fewer commune directly with Angels.

   Exorcists are selected and trained to fight supernatural entities, like vampires, werewolves, and the like. Their primary targets are usually stray-devils, and fallen-angels causing trouble in their territories.

9. #9Fallen Angels, Fallen

   After Luicifer fell from grace he became the first devil, casted down by his creator for his ambition and pride, he did not 'fall' like the others of his kin, as his grace was stripped from him. Actual Fallen-Angles 'fall' by losing the grace of their creator. If an Angel has 'impure thoughts', and stray from the teaching of their creator, the light of their wings leave them making their pristine dove like wings pitch black. Fallen-angels are not allowed back into the kingdom of heaven and have their holy energy weakened. They also become susceptible to holy damage, as they are marked as 'enemies of god'. All Angels are pious and fear 'falling'. But once they do become fallen, they usually become open and more 'human-like' in their indulging of previously disallowed desires.

   Fallen are the only of the three factions that can breed unhindered by the fertility problems of the devils or the moral restrictions of the Angels. They can interbreed with other Fallen or nearly all of the other sentient species, human or supernatural. Thus, in spite of having the lowest population of members, The fallen faction is the only steadily growing of the three Factions. Fallen-angles made their homes on earth and in a section of the underworld, Forming the Grigori under the first of the actual Fallen, Azazel, Their Governor General.

   The fallen are spiteful towards their creator. Mostly for denying them a way to return home, and secondly for discovering how deprived of pleasure they were as angels following God's laws.

10. #10Grigori

    The Grigori is an organization created by Azazel and his powerful siblings to bring some form of order and structure to the lost directionless Fallen.

    The Grigori functions as a military and a place where Fallen gathered under as a form of governance. It is run under the Governor General Azazel and the Cadre, powerful Fallen-Angels. Outside of representing Fallen-Angels and enforcing laws on them, not much is known about the Grigori's operations after the Great War, but they are known to work to recruit as many Sacred-gear users as they can.

11. #11Devils

    Devils are split into two groups, Pure-Blooded and Reincarnated. They reside mostly in the underworld, and are the wealthiest of the three factions because of their meddling in human affairs and their control over sought after resources in the underworld.

    Pure-blooded Devils are all directly originated from the Original Lucifer. While Reincarnated Devils are made from other races being turned into devils by Evil Pieces.

    Devils are naturally powerful and long lived, They have an abysmally low ability to produce offspring. The scientist Ajuka the new Beelzebub managed to create the evil piece system to help their dwindling numbers.

    They are the most chaotic race with multiple factions vying for control. Thanks to the currently rulling governing body under the new great satans. The new Lucifer - Sirzechs, new Leviathan - Serafall, new Beelzebub - Ajuka, and new Asmodeus - Falbium. The Devils have slowly started to reform, and have become a lot less overtly malicious and evil.

    While the Devils have gotten better due to the influx of new Reincarnated Devils, their society, due to their naturally long lives and stubborn personalities, is slow to move from their antiquated ways of thinking. Their society continue to cling to might makes right Ideology, while also still believing in the superiority of the aristocracy of the 72 pillars and the descendants of the Old Satans.

    The devils still subscribe to a two layer caste system determined by birth-pedigree followed by power.

    Devils have access to Demonic Power, A substitute for magic that draws from their Demonic Energy. It is similar to human magic, but unlike them who have to study and train to use it. Devils shape their energy with their imagination.

    Devils gain power and influence by fulfilling contracts with mortals. Originally they gave power for the price of souls, but under the new governance, Devils fulfill all sorts of tasks from the mundane physical labor, to helping rise up corporate ladders for material wealth.

12. #12Old Satan Faction

    Arrogant and tyrannical, the Old Satan Faction is group of powerful Devils, direct decedents of the original great Satans, and their followers.

    They do not hide their contempt for the new great Satans, and believe the old ways of the devils are better. They believe that Reincarnated Devils and the Devils of the 72 Pillars are beneath them and their existence should only be to serve the rightful rulers of the underworld.

    They believe it is their right to rule over the underworld due to their lineage, but do not engage directly as they fear dwindling the Devil's numbers further with a civil war.

13. #1372 Pillars

    The first group of devils ever created by the Original Lucifer. Each of the 72 Pillar Devils created were powerful beings that created lineages, that would become the first aristocracy of Devilkind.

    The Devils descended from these clans, all have the chance to inherit the exclusive Bloodline Ability of their ancestor.

    Members of the 72 Pillar families are right below the four Satans in manners regarding ruling the underworld.

    40 of the 72 Pillar families were destroyed during the great war, and a couple more lost status, or were merged into other houses.

    There is no form of coalition of the remaining Pillar families. Each family is only out for themselves, their territory, and their close allies.

14. #14Extra Demons

    Extra Demons are families of devils that rose to the level of power and renown of the original 72 Pillars.

    Extra Demons families can originate from other pure-blooded devils that were created after the original 72, descendants of the 72 that left their houses with mixed blood from other houses, and powerful Reincarnated Devils that rose to the ranks all the way into becoming a High Class Devil.

    Like the 72 Pillars Extra Demons have no deep seated alliances and can be swayed by the Old Satans or the New Satans given the right incentives.

15. #15Devil Caste

    While Devil society is not much different than modern human society. There are still remnants of their old ways of thinking in their laws, and governing systems.

    Their caste system still remains untouched since its inception. The Four Great Satans at the top rule similar to kings, below them the 72 Pillars rule over their territories like nobles, and below them Extra Demons rule over their own Territories like lesser nobles.

    Apart from that there is their might makes right attitude pervasive through their culture.

    Respect is given to the strongest and devils are classed by their power as well. Dukes, royalty and above like the Great Satans are marked as Ultimate Class devils. The rest of the 72 pillars and Extra Demon clans are marked as High Class Devils. Commoner Devils are master-less devils that live in the territories of High-class Devils, and are marked as Middle Class Devils. They are the closest parallel to human civilians. Reincarnated Devils in service to a High Class master are marked as Low Class Devils.

16. #16Bloodline Ability

    Bloodline Abilities are special non-replicatable powers that were given to the original 72 Pillar Devils and some Extra Demons. It is a power passed down to their spawn.

    They are the most prized possession of all Devil Noble houses. To the point that even with the rarity of pregnancy, Pillar houses will still remove their children as heirs. As in the case with Sairaorg Bael who was kicked out of the Bael house as a disgrace along with his ill mother for being born without Demonic Power and thus without the Bael family's bloodline abilities.

    Some known Bloodline Abilities are: The Phenex Clans' Super Regeneration ability, and high affinity for wind and fire magic. The Gremory Clans' Supernatural Luck. The Bael Clans' Power of Destruction. The Sitri Clan's High affinity for water magic.

17. #17Peerage

    As the a way to solve the falling devil population crisis. The scientist and Great Satan Ajuka created a way to turn other species into devils using a mysterious and powerful ore.

    Taking inspiration from Noble Devils' favorite game Chess, he created the Evil Pieces.

    With these chess pieces made from the ore a High Class Devil would be able to create their own Peerage. A group of servant devils they turned and obey them. Whether by force or by deals.

    Each being reincarnated into a devil receives a boost in ability and power along with the ability to use demonic power and a skill associated with their corresponding chess piece.

    Pawns: These pieces gain the ability to promote themselves into getting any of the other pieces' abilities temporarily as long as they meet the requirement of being on what their king deems as enemy territory.

    Rook: These pieces receive incredible endurance and strength.

    Bishop: These pieces receive a boost in demonic energy and power output on their magic.

    Knight: These pieces receive the ability to blitz around at sonic speeds across the battlefield.

    Queen: These pieces have the aspects of all pieces below them. gaining the power, magic, speed, and endurance afforded to the pieces.

18. #18Kuoh Town

    Entry settings

    A small town in the middle of Japan, home of the prestigious Kuoh Academy formerly a women only institution.

    The rights of the magical operation of the town were bought by the Pillar families, Gremory and Sitri from the Japanese Yokai, so that their daughters could learn how to manage a town, as training for their eventual rise to leaders of their respective houses. Rias, Sona, and their respective peerages are responsible for vetting residents, protecting the town, and managing it's economy.

    Kuoh Town is considered devil territory in the eyes of other magical beings even if the mundane side is unaware of it. Normal people aren't at all affected by magical politics and live their lives thinking it's an ordinary Japanese town governed by Japanese bureaucracy.

    Kuoh Academy is a university owned by and operated by Rias Gremory and Sona Sitri. They changed the admissions process to allow for males so that they could widen their net in finding potential peerage pieces from the expanded student body.

19. #19Strays

    The most common magical nuisance aside from animistic creatures.

    Stray devils are reincarnated devils who have abandoned their king for a variety of reasons. Without a king managing the magical power coursing through their body, thanks to their Evil Piece, The stray devil's body horribly mutates in a variety of ways. From gaining the ability to produce and launch corrosive acid. Bloating, increasing muscle mass, or gaining additional limbs from the same or other species. The possibilities of horrifying transfiguration are endless.

    On the other side, Church Exorcists who have lost their way, or have abandoned the teachings of the church, steal their equipment and go around dispensing their own brand of 'justice'. Stray Exorcists usually go around trying to eliminate anything magical that isn't from the Angels. They usually work under rogue Fallen Angels.

    It is encouraged by all factions to dispatch any Strays Devils when encountered by any means necessary. The Church will also not claim responsibility for Stray Exorcists and will not defend them if they perish or are captured by other factions.

20. #20Rating Game

    As Devil-kind became less overtly evil. They developed a way to fight and challenge each other without the immediate threat of death.

    Rating games are competitions between two High-Rank Devils and their respective peerages fight it out in a ready maid pocket dimension arena. The rules can vary from a straight death match, to capture the flag type games.

    The main functions of the pocket dimension are to contain the collateral damage of the fights and to be able to take out knocked out or surrendering contestants before they sustain mortal damage.

    A rating game is automatically over when the king piece is defeated no matter what special rules are in place.

    Rating games have all but replaced armed conflicts and disagreements between high-rank devils.

    High-rank Devils are placed in a leader-board where they earn prestige based on their spot on the rankings. They earn points based on victories and performance in Rating games.

    Almost anything and everything can be wagered on rating games, even ironclad unbreakable contracts.
