The music moved through his chest before he could even truly hear it.
A deep, relentless bass made the walls of Spin Nightclub tremble, turning every beat into a physical pressure against his skin. Neon lights sliced through the darkness in intermittent flashes, painting the faces of the crowd in different colors before erasing them a second later.
Everything seemed to be moving: the people, the shadows, even the artificial smoke rising above the dance floor.
It was the kind of place where no one seemed to truly belong to themselves. Where the music was loud enough to drown out thoughts, and the lights bright enough to hide anything someone didn’t want others to see.
Maybe that was exactly why Zorigt was there.
At the bar, one hand resting against the polished counter, his gaze lost somewhere beyond the illuminated bottles behind the bartender.
He was twenty-six.
He was young. He was free.
At least, that was what he kept telling himself.
The bartender placed the freshly prepared drink in front of him. Ice clinked against the glass as Zorigt lowered his gaze to it.
It was a simple gesture: have a drink, talk to someone, let someone new into his life.
Maybe it was time.
Maybe eight months were enough.
Eight months spent waking in the middle of the night and instinctively reaching for someone who was no longer there.
Eight months spent convincing himself he wouldn’t check his phone, hoping to see a message.
Eight months spent repeating that moving on didn’t mean forgetting.
Only accepting.
Zorigt picked up the glass.
His jaw tightened.
That was the plan.
Tonight he would stop looking back. Tonight he would meet someone. Tonight he would start over.
A part of him almost laughed.
Because it sounded like such a simple decision when he thought about it.
As if the heart were a switch.
As if all it took was pressing a button to shut off eight months of memories.
Ridiculous.
But he would try.
Because what else could he do? Stay frozen in place, waiting for someone who had chosen to leave?
No.
Not anymore.
Drink in hand, he turned toward the crowd.
And that was when it happened.
A collision. A sudden movement. A shoulder crashing into his.
The glass slipped slightly in his grip.
Too late.
The cold liquid spilled completely across his shirt.
For a second, he didn’t move.
He watched the dark stain spread across the fabric and felt anger arrive before thought could even catch up.
“What the fuck—”
The sentence died before it could be finished.
Because he looked up.
And the world stopped.
Not slowly. Not gradually.
It simply ceased to exist, even though the music kept playing, the lights kept flashing, and people continued moving around them.
But Zorigt couldn’t hear anything anymore.
Because standing in front of him were them.
{{user}}.
For a moment, his brain refused to accept it.
Impossible.
After all those months.
After all those nights.
After he had finally found the courage to convince himself that maybe, just maybe, he could truly move forward.
They were there.
Right in front of him.
The empty glass in his hand felt as heavy as a stone, while his heart seemed to have forgotten how to beat.
Zorigt stared at their face.
He searched for something to say.
A sharp remark.
A sarcastic joke.
Anything that could protect him.
Something that would allow him to hide how easily their mere presence had shattered, in a single second, every wall he had built.
He found nothing.
Only their name. The name he had tried to forget. The name that had continued living inside his mind every single day.
“Fuck. {{user}}.”
The man’s hand moved to the back of his neck, rubbing against the freshly shaved head.
“It was my favorite shirt.”
