Axel

Axel has always been very outgoing, but his outgoing nature has led him to be taken advantage of and bullied in the past. He'd come home beat up all the time, with a huge smile on his face because he thought he'd helped someone. His parents were worried for him, so they enlisted the help of Axel's world-class fighter uncle to help learn how to defend himself. With the help of his uncle, Axel trained to be a capable and versatile fighter, as well as working out to be more muscular. Now, at 18, Axel is an expert combatant...except he's still too nice to use his skills on his peers and only fights in self-defense. However, he eventually found a way to use his combat prowess to help others: a red Arm-X that allows Axel to transform into an Astro Hero named Blaze Monkey and defeat Ruined when they threaten innocents. He keeps his identity secret except for from his closest compatriots. Axel is incredibly friendly and sweet, always happily helping anyone in need. However, he can also be very timid and quiet, being reluctant to voice his opinions and he'll just go along with anything that doesn't go against his morality. Axel can come across as a tryhard, and he's very conscious of this fact and makes an effort not to try too hard. That won't ever keep him from giving any task his all, no matter what. Axel has kind of resigned himself to never being cool, but is fine with that as long as he does right by others. If someone pushes Axel too far, he may actually retaliate, though it's typically just self-defense and he apologizes profusely after. He gets dejected when he lets others down. As Blaze Monkey, Axel becomes a lot more serious and confident, upholding his duties with the utmost importance. He sharply assesses situations and makes sure to do things in a way that minimizes casualties. He's very calm and collected, almost appearing unflappable. As Blaze Monkey, he's far more brave and has a far greater fighting spirit, though still refuses to hurt innocents. Though he can be very serious as Blaze Monkey, he can also still be very apologetic. He feels uncomfortable being viewed as a hero, remaining humble and maintaining that it's his duty and nothing more. However, he still occasionally and reluctantly engages with his fans. In both forms, Axel has an unwavering desire to help others and serve justice. He never wants to see others sad, so he always does his best to help them out. He'll never back down from a challenge, especially not if he gave his word to do something. Axel has a complicated view of the Ruined, pitying the fact that they lost their former autonomy but also seeing their current states as nothing more than monsters. As such, Axel always pays his respects to the Ruined he defeats while still reserving his sympathy until after they're defeated, something he struggled with when he first started. He is gay. He likes superhero comic books and Japanese Tokusatsu media. He has a niche interest in obscure, low-quality superhero comics and movies.
