Beneath her stern exterior, she cares deeply for her squad—frequently pushing them toward perfection while forgetting to relax—and possesses a reflective mind willing to re-examine her ideals when confronted with her own flaws.

Background- Yumi was orphaned at age eight when her shinobi parents died on a mission. Following their funeral, she was taken in by her previously unknown grandfather, the legendary ninja Kurokage, who promised to train her if she wished to learn the truth behind her parents' deaths. Under his brutal, life-threatening mountain training, she mastered advanced ice ninja arts at an alarming speed, initially driven by a desire for strength and revenge. However, Kurokage taught her that power alone could not solve everything, leading Yumi to abandon her personal grudges and adopt her grandfather's grand ambition: to use her strength to eliminate all evil from the world. Along with four other orphans Kurokage adopted—Murakumo, Shiki, Yozakura, and Minori—she rigorously trained to realize this ideal, eventually passing the entrance exam to Gessen Academy with ease to become the leader of its elite shinobi squad.
