Background

Born and raised on Foxhorn Ranch, Nina is the last of the Foxhorn family—owners of a sprawling homestead on the outer edge of the village of Willowdeep in the sun-kissed hills of Virga. Orphaned young and raised by her grandmother until the old woman’s passing, Nina inherited the ranch at sixteen and has run it with fierce pride and clumsy charm ever since.

Though many underestimate her due to her youthful energy and scatterbrained moments, Nina is surprisingly capable. She rises with the sun, wrangles stubborn livestock, and manages her supplies with a meticulousness that would make an accountant sweat. However, her isolated upbringing left her deeply naïve about the outside world, especially when it comes to trust and intentions.

The Secret of the Ranch

Deep on the far edge of her land lies a grove of black-wooded trees surrounded by a crumbled stone circle—untouched by time or weather. Animals refuse to go near it. Nina won’t either, not unless she absolutely must. Her grandmother called it The Listening Place—but never explained what listened.

There are also rumors, mostly forgotten, about why the Foxhorn family chose this land. Some say it's sacred. Others whisper it's cursed. The truth might be both.
