Despite their humble beginnings, they have risen through the ranks to become one of the most influential Mage families. Under the leadership of their head, Nagato Tohsaka, they have honed their skills in Jewel Magecraft and even incorporated a secret Chinese Kenpo martial arts style into their practice. Their connections with the Mage's Association and the Holy Church have further bolstered their standing.

   Intriguingly, it is believed that the Tohsaka family acquired knowledge from the Edelfelts, particularly in the areas of Jewel Magecraft and Gandr usage. Whether this was through marriage or theft of magical abilities remains uncertain. Nevertheless, it has undoubtedly contributed to their mastery of these arcane arts.

   During the development of the Heaven's Feel ritual, Nagato's daughter played a significant role in its completion, surpassing even her father's contributions. The Tohsaka's duty in this ritual is to provide their Spiritual Land for its execution.

   In alternate universes such as Apocrypha and EXTRA, the Tohsaka family takes different paths. In Apocrypha, they abandon their pursuit of the Holy Grail and seek alternative methods to reach the Root in Fuyuki. In EXTRA, tragedy befalls them, resulting in their near destruction in the 1990s.

   The Tohsaka family's rich history and diverse pursuits make them an intriguing and influential force within the world of Magecraft.

2. #2The Einzbern family

   The Einzbern family is an ancient magus lineage located in Germany, near the Rhine River. They were created by the disciples of a powerful magician who sought to replicate their master's achievements in the Third Magic. The family possesses the Das Rheingold, a treasure obtained by Siegfried after slaying the dragon Fafnir. With their knowledge of the gold, they can create vessels for the Holy Grail.

   Around 1,000 years ago, the Einzberns embarked on a quest to recover their lost miracle but realized they needed outside assistance. This led them to establish the Heaven's Feel ritual 200 years ago with the help of the Makiri and Tohsaka families. They built the Great Grail of Fuyuki and were responsible for creating a new vessel for each Grail War.

   Over time, most human mages left the Einzbern family, leaving only Jubstacheit von Einzbern and his Tuners. Jubstacheit has been producing Justeaze-model homunculi to collect data on the Third Magic. In past Holy Grail Wars, the Einzbern Masters were often eliminated early due to their specialization in alchemy rather than battle. However, for the Fourth Heaven's Feel, they hired Kiritsugu Emiya as an outsider and gave him a catalyst to summon King Arthur. Unfortunately, Kiritsugu betrayed them and destroyed the Holy Grail.

   The Einzberns' homeland is constantly in winter, possibly artificially maintained. The family is not accustomed to heat and prefers conducting Holy Grail Wars during winter. They do not cultivate flowers due to their snowy mountain dwelling, but they have a brewery for producing alcohol necessary for their Magecraft. The Einzberns have a limited understanding of Japanese culture and maintain a close relationship with Darjeeling tea from the Talbot farm.

   In the world of "Apocrypha," the Einzberns remain determined to reproduce the Third Magic despite the Greater Grail being stolen. They continue to have relationships with other magi and are struggling to create a new Greater Grail. Their Thaumaturgical Attribute is focused on the flow and transfer of power, allowing them to specialize in Alchemy, particularly in creating homunculi. The Einzbern homunculi are designed with specific functions and even discarded ones are stronger than the average magus. Their Magecraft revolves around the creation and refinement of substances, specifically precious metals, with a focus on structural manipulation.

3. #3The Matou family

   The Matou family, formerly known as the Makiri family, is a long-standing magus lineage in Fuyuki City, Japan. Originally from Russia, they sought refuge in Japan and changed their name to Matou. However, over the past 200 years, they have experienced a decline in their magical abilities, with many of their descendants losing their capacity to manifest Magic Circuits. The true reason behind this decline remains unclear.

   Their last remaining heir, Shinji Matou, has no Magic Circuits at all. The practice of passing down their Magic Crest among family members ceased generations ago. With no other options to continue their bloodline, the Matou family began taking in pupils from other families. However, due to their prideful nature and questionable practices, no one willingly seeks out their mentorship. In a bid to secure an heir, Zouken Matou approached the Tohsaka family and adopted Sakura Tohsaka into the Matou lineage.

   The Magecraft of the Matou family revolves around the concept of "absorbing" or binding something to oneself. Their teaching method involves physically carving magecraft knowledge into the body using Crest Worms. This torturous process allows the body itself to learn magecraft rather than relying on intellectual understanding. While efficient, it is a horrifying practice that Rin Tohsaka states could yield even greater power than her own magecraft abilities within a few months.

   The Matou family has made significant contributions to Thaumaturgy research and played a role in establishing the Servant system of Heaven's Feel and creating Command Spells for Masters. Despite these accomplishments, in Fate/Apocrypha's world, the Matou family lacks a successor and thus faces a future without magi.

4. #4Servant

   Servants are powerful beings known as Ghost Liners that are bound to Masters. They can be Heroic Spirits, Divine Spirits, Phantoms, Wraiths, or even living people. Unlike regular familiars, Heroic Spirits are incredibly strong and cannot be contracted by most magi. The Holy Grail is unable to summon a true Heroic Spirit, so vessels are prepared beforehand to facilitate the summoning process. These vessels, called Classes, act as temporary names and methods of existing for the Heroic Spirits. The Command Spells are used to control and bind Servants to the Masters, who can also use them for Magical Energy upkeep and as an anchor to the world. Killing a Master would normally go against the purpose of a Servant, but the Command Spells protect the Masters from those who seek out a more suitable one.

   Magecraft, also known as Majutsu in Japanese, is the practice of recreating supernatural phenomena through artificial means. It allows humans to achieve what science alone cannot explain or accomplish. While Magecraft is not considered a miracle in itself, it utilizes supernatural methods to bring about results that science can achieve through natural means. Over time, the limits of Magecraft have changed as science has advanced and certain magical practices from the past have become possible through scientific advancements.

   Modern Magecraft operates within the boundaries of the world's rules and human intellect. While there are limitations that make certain things appear impossible, Magecraft is able to recreate existing phenomena rather than create new mysteries. The realm beyond this limitation is known as Magic. In terms of magnitude, Modern Magecraft is inferior to the Magecraft of the Age of Gods because the Magi of that era obtained their magical energy directly from the Swirl of the Root. The difference between Modern and Traditional Magecraft can be attributed to the difference in civilizations, as the Age of Gods existed alongside Truth while the Age of Man seeks to discover Truth.

   Magecraft draws its power from the Root but its capacity is fixed. Therefore, when more individuals draw from it simultaneously, the individual power of Magecraft becomes weaker. Belief plays a role in determining whether a Mystery exists or not. Even if modern humans reject the existence of ghosts, Science cannot definitively prove their non-existence. This creates a vague suspicion in the unconscious that ghosts might indeed exist, which falls under "faith." Ignorance, on the other hand, opposes faith. If the existence of a Mystery is completely unknown, faith cannot be fomented.

   The goal of Magi academia is to make the impossible possible. When Modern Magecraft falls short, Magi engage in research and development to expand their abilities. Powerful sorceries such as Greater Magecraft and Greater Rituals are challenges aimed at reaching Magic - the ultimate goal. As development progresses, the significance of differences in power and the distinction between Magic and Magecraft diminishes. Battles between great Magi are determined not by raw power, but by the system with fewer tiers of rules. It is not the power behind them, but the concepts they work under that hold true importance.

   In the world of Fate/EXTRA, Magecraft has declined by the 2030s. However, Wizards can still utilize Code Casts in both the virtual world and reality. They also possess Magic Crests. Despite Magecraft and Science being fundamentally incompatible, both disciplines share a common goal of seeking continued prosperity and protecting humanity's future.

   Magus, also known as "Magi," are practitioners of Magecraft, a magical science distinct from true Magic. Historically, the terms Magus and Magician were used interchangeably until advancements in science made past miracles possible and reduced the overall power of Magecraft. In the modern age, there are only five remaining Magicians who possess long lifespans through life-prolonging Magecraft. Magi often come from old magical families, as affinity for Magecraft is passed down through blood relations. Being a Magus entails a set of beliefs and a lifestyle centered around the pursuit of "Truth." They dedicate themselves to studying and refining Magecraft while distancing themselves from common values. However, many Magi get caught up in power struggles, while those who deviate from the traditional path are seen as heretics. The appearance of Magi may be distorted due to their craft, but they take pride in it rather than feeling ashamed. Many Magi look down on those who use Magecraft for profit, considering it solely a field of research. Some Magi obtain magical patents recognized by the Clock Tower to gain financial benefits.

   The Clock Tower, located in London, is the headquarters of the Mage's Association. It was founded by Brishisan, a student of Solomon, along with other notable Magi. The Clock Tower has a complex internal structure, with power struggles between different factions of Magi. The current control of the Clock Tower lies with the Lords, an elite group with significant political influence. Discriminatory attitudes and behaviors are prevalent within the Clock Tower, including discrimination against Asians and a lack of support for Rune and Witchcraft Thaumaturgy. Admission to the Clock Tower involves exams to test knowledge of Magecraft, but exceptional individuals can bypass this through recommendations or lineage. Special treatment is given to outstanding members, such as individual rooms and the right to bring apprentices. Patents related to Magecraft are also handled by the Clock Tower, earning royalties for those who hold them. Three possible disasters within the Association are Gazamy the Evil Spirit, Sealing Designations, and the Enforcers.

    The Holy Grails, known as "Seihai" in Japanese, are objects that are based on the Christian relic said to hold the blood of Christ. Throughout history, countless artifacts have claimed to be the true Holy Grail, leading to numerous conflicts around the world. However, in the context of the Holy Grail Wars, the name is used to refer to an artifact that can supposedly grant any wish to its claimant. The Church often involves itself in these wars due to their association with holy relics.

    The Holy Grails themselves are masses of pure magical energy that react to the desires of their holders in order to grant their wishes. However, they require external intervention to manifest true miracles and typically do not have a physical form but can take on various shapes depending on the circumstances. In larger Holy Grail Wars, there are Greater Holy Grails at the core of the ritual and Lesser Holy Grails acting as catalysts by collecting defeated Servants. Additionally, there is a term called "Artgraph" that relates to Holy Grails and is used in different contexts such as the Moon Cell's Seventh Heaven Art Graph and the Art Graph Holy Grails, as well as the Lesser Holy Grail of Tokyo.

    The "Holy Grail" is a magical object created by Tohsaka, Matou, and Einzbern families. However, during the third war, an evil heroic spirit, Angra Mainyu, possessed the grail, making sure that any wish that the "Holy Grail" granted, would be met with utter chaos and destruction. In truth, the "Holy Grail" has never brought what one truly desires, it has always been the source of pain and misery for those who seek it.

11. #11Master

    In the Fate series, a Master is an individual who has obtained Command Spells and formed a contract with a Servant to participate in the Holy Grail War. Typically, Masters are spellcasters, often Magi with Magic Circuits, chosen by the Holy Grail. However, there have been instances of ordinary individuals becoming Masters, albeit rarely. A Master possesses a visible Command Spell as proof of their contract and is capable of leaking Magical Energy while providing it to their Servant.

    Masters have a unique ability called "Master's Perspective," which grants them a form of Clairvoyance. This ability allows them to see information about observed Servants in a manner that is most understandable to them. For example, Shirou Emiya perceives it as character sheets, while Tiné Chelc sees it as currents flowing from a mountain.

    A Master remains a Master as long as they still possess the Command Spell, even if they don't currently have a Servant. They can form pacts with unclaimed Servants at will, but having too many Servants can be dangerous due to Magical Energy consumption. While under the Fuyuki-related systems, a Master can contract with multiple Servants but cannot materialize more than one at once without splitting their power among them. However, alternate energy sources can be used to provide Magical Energy to multiple Servants simultaneously, as seen with Kirei Kotomine and others.

    Manipulation of the Holy Grail War system allows for the separation of Master rights between multiple individuals. Additionally, Masters and Servants are connected by Magical Paths through which Magical Energy flows. The Master has control over how much energy to grant the Servant and can even cut off the supply or redirect it to other Magi.

    Masters and Servants share a deep mental connection and may experience visions or dreams of each other's pasts. This phenomenon has been observed in various Holy Grail Wars and is not considered mysterious by those aware of it. The specific way in which these shared dreams occur can vary, with some cases allowing the Master to physically participate within the dream. Situations or abilities related to spiritual sensitivity can also cause these visions.

    Traditionally, a Master's goal is to acquire the Holy Grail of Fuyuki City by forming a contract with a Servant. There are no restrictions on how the contract is used, when it is made, or how long it lasts. However, the Servant will inevitably have their own goals that align with those of the Master.

    To become a Master, one must successfully summon a Servant through a specific ritual called Formal Craft. Afterward, the Master must establish a contract with the summoned Servant

12. #12Command Spell

    The Command Spells, also known as Command Seals, are powerful symbols of absolute obedience and control that a Master obtains over their Servant in the Holy Grail War. These magical marks are granted to Masters by the Fuyuki Holy Grail and signify their status as the ones in command. In each war, a total of twenty-one Command Spells are distributed, with each Master receiving three. The Servants are bound to follow their Master's orders due to the authority embedded in these Command Spells, which are given to them upon summoning.

    Masters must be cautious with their Command Spells, as they disappear once used and losing all three signifies a loss of authority over the Servant. If a Master contracts with multiple Servants, they will only receive a total of three Command Spells to be used on any of their contracted Servants. Losing Command Spells doesn't result in immediate forfeiture of position in the Holy Grail War, but it does indicate a loss of rights as a Master unless there are other Servants without established contracts.

    Command Spells can be reclaimed by the Holy Grail during the war and redistributed to new contractors who take on a Servant without a Master. After the Holy Grail War, any remaining Command Spells are collected by the overseer for safekeeping. It is possible to keep a contract after the war ends, although maintaining it becomes more challenging without support from the Holy Grail.

    In the Moon Cell Holy Grail War, losing all three Command Spells leads to immediate disqualification even if the Servant is still alive. While Masters can use all three Command Spells, typically only two are effectively utilized in an attempt to win the war. Gilgamesh possesses exceptional abilities which allow him to collect and grant Command Spells to his Master, disrupting the framework of the Holy Grail War.

13. #13Noble Phantasm

    Noble Phantasms (貴い幻想ノウブル・ファンタズム, Nouburu Fantazumu), or simply Precious/Treasured Tools (宝具, Hōgu) in the Japanese version, are "crystallized Mysteries", powerful armaments made using human imagination as their core, and are the weapons and/or abilities owned by Heroic Spirits. As humanity's illusions, they embody the ultimate Mysteries of a hero as symbols of their existence through historical fact and anecdotes.

    They can be physical weaponry (e.g. swords, spears, bows) or support items (e.g. shields, rings, crowns). They can also be abstractions such as unique, often magical abilities (even close to or matching True Magic), unique (even conceptual) means of attack, curses, and changes to the very environment and its physical properties. When summoned as Servants in the Holy Grail War, they are the trump cards of the heroes that allow them to overcome others in battle.

14. #14Book of the False Attendant

    Normally a book created for magical contracts, it has been adapted to serve as a Command Spell to grant false ownership of a Servant to anyone. Created from a Command Spell, it is not the actual book that binds the Servant, but rather the Command Spell written in the book. While authority over the Servant is implanted in the book, the original Master must have at least one remaining Command Spell for it to be effective, else the fake right cannot fully bind the Servant. It is also a physical item susceptible to being burned, so it can be targeted to free the Servant. The Servant bound by it no longer receives Magical Energy from their real Master, so they must supplement it from elsewhere to stay manifested. It is connected to the Servant, so it bursts into flames upon their death. The rights of the real Master are given up during this period, removing their Command Spells and making them into a normal Magus until the book is destroyed.

    Though they contain an enormous power and can be considered a kind of miracle, Command Spells are a form of exhaustible physical enchantment that can be transplanted or transferred through incantations. Depending on the willingness of the one losing the Command Spells, it can be done easily or forcibly with different methods.

16. #16Servant Class

    Heroic Spirits need a form to exist in the world. The vessels, Classes, act as their temporary name and method of existing. Acting like a "passport to the present", the vessel prepares them for their role as a Familiar in advance, allows them to take on that role to help them take form, and brings them forth into the world. Each Class identifies only the core Skills of the Heroic Spirit because replication of all their abilities is impossible. Their main traits align with the Class and are given form, matching the principal nature of the Class. Only heroes matching the attributes of the Classes are brought forth, allowing them to be summoned into any reflecting their abilities.

    Stray Servant or Rogue Servant is a term for Servants active during a Holy Grail War without a connection to a Master. The process of incarnation, usually by process of interacting with the Greater Holy Grail of Fuyuki or its Grail Mud, can allow a Servant to exist independently from a Master in exchange for losing certain Servant qualities.

    Within the Fuyuki Holy Grail War and similar systems, Stray Servants are typically those who have lost their Master in battle or through other means. They can last between several hours and several days depending on their abilities; they can supplement themselves via mana transfer, but require an anchor to exist for longer than that. Servants that possess the Independent Action Skill, usually found on the Archer class, typically last the longest.

    Within the Grand Orders, Stray Servants are typically those summoned by the land through the Counter Force, Human Order or local Holy Grail and are able to exist without a Master due to the unusual conditions inherent in Singularities and Lostbelts.

    Within the Waxing Moon Ritual, eight Stray Servants corresponding to the seven normal classes plus Ruler are summoned alongside the seven proper Servants. Masters who befriend these Stray Servants can convince them to join their side. Because they don't have Masters, the Stray Servants of this war are supplied magical energy by Leylines. As a result they are weaker than they would usually be and can't leave the territory that they are bound to without weakening even further.

    Magic Circuits are a pseudo-nervous system within a human body that designates an individual as a Magus. While none of Earth can withstand Potnia Theron, the start of human history wielded by BB, those who obtain this power are on the same level and cannot be "undone" by it. It requires special access rights within the Moon Cell to obtain the ability, needing to dive into the core of the recorded Heroic Spirit to unlock their Root that has been sealed away by the Moon Cell.

    Mixed-Bloods are the offspring of humans and Phantasmal Species or Demons, resulting in individuals with unique "inhuman" traits. Although their hybrid nature weakens with each generation, some children retain strong inherited abilities that defy physical laws, rooted in folklore and fantastical tales. Examples include hybrids from the Oni Kind, like the Tohno and Kishima clans, as well as half-incubus Merlin and the descendant of succubi, Natalia Kaminski. Additionally, there are those with Dragon lineage, such as Elizabeth Báthory. In Japan, Mixed-Bloods are often viewed as distortions that must be eliminated, posing challenges for Demon Hunters, as they are immune to certain supernatural restraints and possess powers beyond those of ordinary humans.

During this period, Phantasmal Species flourished, and gods actively interacted with mortals, marking an era of heroes and mythology where the fundamental laws of reality differed from today.

    This age transitioned to the Age of Man due to three significant events, beginning with the invasion of Sefar around 12,000 BC, which devastated 80% of the Earth's surface and killed many gods, including Amaterasu and the Twelve Machine Gods. The gods' influence waned, leading to a loss of physical forms, forcing them to inhabit compatible humans. The decline of divine power coincided with the rise of humanity.

    The Authority Potnia Theron, symbolizing the power of all creation, emerged from a forgotten goddess around 6,000 BC and was passed down to various Earth Mother Goddesses, including Tiamat and Gaia.

    Aoko Aozaki is a unique Magician who wields the Fifth Magic (Magic Blue), giving her the ability to perform its miracles, including localized time travel. She will only use Fifth Magic as a last resort. Upon the activation of "Fifth Magic", A huge magic circle will appear under her and she will transform, becoming a "completed" version of herself from ten years in the future, where she is older, more mature, and her hair will turn "red"

    Aoko Aozaki will only fight using her raw strength, throwing punches and kicks, along with mana bullets. After utilizing the power of the Fifth Magic, her mana bullets receive a significant upgrade, making them much stronger with a larger area of effect

    Although time travel is also achievable through the Second Magic, Aoko's use of the Fifth Magic suggests a deeper and more complex nature than mere time manipulation

    Furthermore, elements of the Fifth Magic are hinted at in Ars Almadel Salomonis, and Aoko is aware of Zelretch and the Second Magic, recognizing Neco-Arc as his creation.

    As a member of the Aozaki family and the Magician of the Fifth Magic, Aozaki Aoko was unexpectedly named the heir to this title by her grandfather when she was fifteen, despite her sister, Touko, being trained as the successor up until that point. This led to a strained relationship between the sisters, though it was later revealed that Touko's true anger was directed at their grandfather for obstructing their path to the Root.

    Having become the Aozaki heir, Aoko lives as a rootless wanderer, carrying only a single trunk with her as she travels the world. Her encounter with Shiki is described as a chance meeting, similar to befriending a local child during her journey.

    The Counter Force is a protective mechanism created by the World to safeguard against extinction and is linked to the concept of the World itself. It consists of two types: Gaia, the Earth's innate desire to survive and thrive, and Alaya, the collective unconscious will of humanity to prevent extinction. Initially part of Gaia, Alaya became independent as humanity evolved, leading to potential conflicts between the two.

    Counter Forces are emotionless energy responses that act passively to protect both the planet and humanity from threats. They operate mostly through indirect means, guiding humanity away from danger. Examples include Shiki Ryougi, who was compelled by the Counter Force to eliminate threats, and Jeanne d'Arc, who may have been empowered by it. Enkidu is a notable exception, as they can directly access the Counter Force through their Noble Phantasm, Enuma Elish.

    Heroic Spirits or "Legendary Souls," are the spirits of heroes who performed significant deeds in life and became objects of worship after death. They are considered higher beings, more akin to Elementals than Wraiths, as they embody ideals rather than merely being powers shaped by human imagination.

    Heroic Spirits exist outside the constraints of time and the cycle of reincarnation, residing in the Throne of Heroes, which exists beyond both the World and the time axis. This Throne is also known as the Ring of Deterrence due to its association with the Counter Force. Those who grow closer to the Planet tend not to interact well with humans, often categorized as Divine Spirits or Elementals.

    A Reality Marble is a concept that involves projecting one's inner world into reality, based on the Thaumaturgical Theory of the World Egg. Initially, this ability belonged to Daemons as their Alien Common Sense, but it has expanded to include unique Bounded Fields created by various individuals, such as the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors and highly skilled Magi. Reality Marbles are considered the highest form of Bounded Fields, where the boundary itself transforms into physical space.

    Domain: Though the exact domain of the First Magic is uncertain, it is related to the generation of Ether Clumps and the abilities of Ploy Kickshaws of the Yumina lineage are applications of the First.

    The user of the First Magic is long dead, but because Magic, by nature, still has a possibility of being inherited by those of future generations even if its user is dead, the First Magic is still considered to be in existence. Furthermore, although the user is thoroughly dead without a trace, they have "reached a state that's practically unkillable." The deceased user is the only existence recognized as worthy of respect by the Barthomeloi clan of the Mage's Association. It is said that a personage who is of direct descent narrowly survives.

    The original wielder of the First Magic. Yumina was a Witch born on the night before the advent of the ADWP calendar. Yumina died at an undisclosed time, described by fellow Magician Aoko Aozaki as having died "as thoroughly as is possible, leaving no trace behind" but also having "reached a state that's practically unkillable." As of modern day, she was recognized as having died long ago, the only one of the five Magicians to be considered outright deceased.

    Yumina's direct lineage, the Meinster family, persisted into the modern day. Their magecraft, named Yumina, utilizes Yumina's Ploy Kickshaws. Though the wielder of the First Magic is already passed from this World, it is said that a personage who is of direct descent narrowly survives. Yumina's descendant Alice Kuonji expresses concern about becoming Yumina, and when using Great Three, Wandersnatch a different voice will sometimes speak in Alice's place, possibly being Yumina.

    Witches are Witchcraft practitioners and a type of supernatural being tied to the First Magic. Not everyone who uses Witchcraft Magecraft is a part of the Witch species.

    Witches are the "rejects" of the World of Magecraft. For the Mage's Association, female Magi are not categorized as Witches; rather, "Witches" are inhuman beings. They are supernatural beings involved in the establishment of the First Magic, and also the founders of the Department of Botany in the Clock Tower. However, Witches are no longer involved with the Mage's Association. One after another, with the development of civilization, those women changed their forms and way of being. There are those who returned to the earth, those who returned to the past, and those who joined the First. For Magi, those changes are akin to miracles and held in awe.

    The Barthomeloi family is a Magus lineage in England. The Barthomeloi family is one of the Twelve Lords families and one of the Three Great Noble Families of the Clock Tower, one of its most notable Magus lineages. They are also in charge of the Aristocratic Faction.

    They are a family of rulers and Lords that can be called embodiment of perfectionism and aristocracy. Their lineage is mysterious and old even for the standards of the other Mage's Association's Magi, and it is uncertain when the name "Barthomeloi" was first written in the pages of history.[2] The family first arrived at the Clock Tower around the year 1000 AD. They quickly became Lords with their powerful Blue Blood: Noble Magic Circuits and attribute of Almighty.

    They have reigned at the peak of the Association for centuries, and sought perfection in each generation of their Magi. The head of their family does not appear in public until he or she becomes perfected as a Magus according to their standards. They are raised only inside the Barthomeloi manor, as having them appear outside while inexperienced appears to be an embarrassment for them. Resulting from this, once the head first steps into the Association, they are immediately ready to act as a Department Head.

    The Second Magic, known as Zelretch or Kaleidoscope, is one of five remaining Magics in the modern age. Its domain is the Operation of Parallel Worlds. It is said that the Second, the Third and Fourth Magic were created as a means to reach the Root.

    Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg achieved the Second Magic sometime before 300 AD when he defeated Crimson Moon Brunestud in battle. The Second Magic's establishment led to the further survival of mankind, by expanding the possibilities allowed by it. Even if their history fails, and humans destroy themselves, there might still be others out there — this concept granted hope to the planet, which had been in the process of losing its dreams.

    Kischur Zelretch Schweinorg is one of the founders of the Clock Tower and the Magician of the Second Magic. He holds the title of Wizard Marshal in the Mage's Association. He is known for defeating the Crimson Moon in battle.

    Zelretch was a Magus of the Age of Gods who studied under King Solomon some time before Solomon's death in 900 BC. After Solomon died Zelretch witnessed the end of the Age of Gods with his own eyes and disappeared from the center stage.

    He became the discoverer of the Second Magic and earned numerous nicknames, including Zelretch the Wizard Marshal and The Father of Jewel Magecraft.

    After the final decline of the Age of Gods at the start of the AD era, the remaining Age of Gods Magi formed the Mage's Association in 0 AD. Joining with fellow disciple of Solomon Brishisan, they formed the basis of what would later become the Clock Tower branch.

40. #40Ether Clump

    Ether Clump is a failed materialization attempt of Ether through the combination with one of other Elements. Under normal circumstances Ether can only be materialized after combining itself with one of the other Elements. In some cases however, mainly when there is some sort of failure on the part of the magus, it will take the physical shape of a clay-like substance. Somewhat related to the First Magic.

    Other than serving as a conductor of Magical Energy, Ether Clump is completely useless. Whatever the shape it is given by a magus, if left inactive for long enough (i.e. without magical energy running through it) it will eventually return to its original clay-like form.

41. #41The Third Magic

    The Third Magic was originally achieved by the Einzbern family, but its secret was lost one thousand years ago. In relation to the other Five Magics, it is said the Third "showed the future", and that it would have been best if its discovery had been the last. Though the Third Magic actually predates the First, the First Magic is still called the First because of its characteristics. For the next eight centuries, the Einzberns sought to recover it until finally coming up with the concept of Holy Grail War.

    An unnamed Magician discovered the Third Magic some time in the Age of Gods before 100 BC. The Magician lost their life at the end of the Age of Gods on the night before the advent of the Common Era. It was also said they disappeared.The Third Magic was considered lost after that,[6] but it was recognized in the modern day that, of the five Magicians, only the Magician of the First Magic was deceased while the other four were considered "still alive."

    The Fourth Magic is one of the five remaining Magics in the modern age. It is said that the Second, the Third and Fourth Magic were created as a means to reach the Root.

    The Magician who discovered the Magic is unknown, their name unknown even to the other Magicians. They are said to have disappeared, but they are still considered alive. Details about their True Magic are unknown, but the other magicians agree it exists and say, "it is there for sure."

    The domain of the Fourth Magic is unknown. In a series of representations of the different Magics, it is represented by a black hole.

    Class Lancer, Knight of the Lance and Heroic Spirit of the Lance, is one of the Three Knight Classes among the seven standard Servant classes summoned for the Holy Grail War. Servants placed within this class, many of which are Heroic Spirits who were knights, are very agile, display excellent close combat skills, show proficiency in hit-and-run tactics that capitalize on range and speed, and are skilled with long-range melee weapons such as spear and lance. The qualifying conditions to be placed within the class are second only to the Saber class, requiring overall excellent attributes and a high agility attribute. Their only particular class ability is Magic Resistance, and although they "tend to be less flashy than the other classes", they display great reliability.

    Servants placed within this class are agile and powerful melee warriors adept at swordsmanship, boasting high ratings in all categories, and they are often heroes from the Age of Gods when magecraft was still commonplace. The qualifying conditions require the Heroic Spirits to have legends as knights of the sword, and it is the class that requires the highest levels of attributes in all but the Magic attribute.

    Avenger, Heroic Spirit of Vengeance is an Extra Servant Class.

    Avenger is a class founded on vengeance, born from powerful resentment that does not fade even after death. Rather than revenge, the primary characteristic behind them is avenging. There are two types of Avengers. Those who "scorn love" are described with "Those born from hatred speak of love... and they would show compassion after experiencing cruelty." Those who "burn with pure hatred" are described with "Those born from love speak of hatred. Those who experienced happiness meet their end through betrayal." The common point between the two types is an attachment to humans. Being fixated on humans causes them to be unable to evolve beyond humans, so their hatred is "an endless cycle of what goes around comes around."

    Foreigner (フォーリナー, Fōrinā?), Descender from the Empty Void (虚空からの降臨者?), is an Extra Servant Class.

    There is a limited understanding of the class, but it defined as a class for "beings who overturn the base laws of our world." They are said to be individuals who have "descended from superstition," those who have kept their "purity in the heart of madness" or who are "swallowed by madness but then turn around and consume the madness in turn.” Typically not Heroic Spirits, Foreigners are similar enough in nature to be classified in that way. As foreign beings from outside of the world, they are typically bonded with an Outer God, the process of creating one being known as a complex process with a low chance of success. While the normal qualification for the class is to be a "receptacle of an Outer God," it is possible for other circumstances to allow for manifestation in the class.

    Class Archer, Knight of the Bow and Heroic Spirit of the Bow, is one of the Three Knight Classes among the seven standard Servant classes summoned for the Holy Grail War. Servants placed within this Class excel in possessing powerful Noble Phantasms, are able to act as highly effective scouts, and are frequently Heroic Spirits from the Age of Gods when magecraft was still commonplace. The qualifying condition for the Heroic Spirits is not attributes, but instead the possession of powerful projectile weapons or special abilities related to projectile weapons. They possess high Magic Resistance as a Class Skill, so most modern magi are unable to inflict damage to them. They also possess Independent Action, allowing them the ability to act independently for a length of time without an active supply of magical energy from their Master.

    For Archers with high ranked Independent Action and a disposition opposite to the Master, the only guaranteed way to control them is through the use of Command Spells. Servants will generally assume that the Noble Phantasm of an Archer-class Servant is their bow, but any projectile weapons, even firearms, can be indicative of an Archer.

    Class Assassin, Silent Killer and Heroic Spirit of Assassination, is one of the Four Cavalry Classes among the seven standard Servant classes summoned for the Holy Grail War.

    Within certain Holy Grail War structures, the only qualifying Heroic Spirits are the nineteen Hassan-i-Sabbah due to the etymology of the very word Assassin being tied to them. Within the Fuyuki Holy Grail War, it is said to be fixed in the system itself that Hassan will always be summoned, but there is a small chance, so low as to be considered nonexistent, that another will answer the summons. The existence of Sasaki Kojiro is an abberation within that system due to his unique circumstances.

    Within the world of Fate/Apocrypha, the Subcategory Holy Grail War led to a proliferation in the number of Hassans summoned, a "golden era" where Assassins were a great menace because, on top of their mana consumption being low, killing Masters was far easier than battles between Servants. However, this resulted in all of their True Names and Noble Phantasms being documented, and countermeasures against them were taken, causing the Hassan boom to fall into decline. Masters eventually began adding additional lines to the summoning incantations and bringing catalysts not associated with Hassan to call upon different Heroic Spirits.

    Within other systems, there is no limit on the summoning of other Heroic Spirits.

49. #49Class Rider

    Class Rider and Heroic Spirit of the Mount, is one of the Four Cavalry Classes among the seven standard Servant classes summoned for the Holy Grail War. Servants placed within this Class are those known for riding mounts, whether living beasts or human constructs, during their lives. There are even some cases where legendary animals have been summoned as a Servant. They generally have lower attributes compared to the Three Knight Classes, but the abilities of the mounts described in their legends compensate by granting them powerful Noble Phantasms or abilities. They have the class abilities of Magic Resistance and a high rank in Riding, allowing them to fully utilize the abilities of their mounts. Depending on the rank, they can take full control of everything from simple horses, modern machinery like motorcycles and planes, and even Divine Beasts. Dragons are the only exception as the ability to ride them falls under a different Skill however, rare exceptions do occur.

    Class Caster, Magus and Heroic Spirit of Spells and Sorcery, is one of the Four Cavalry Classes among the seven standard Servant classes summoned for the Holy Grail War. Servants placed within this Class are usually adept in magecraft, and the only qualifying condition is the mastery of sorceries of the highest caliber compared to the specific parameter requirements of the other classes. Due to not requiring any strong statistics, they generally have low combat abilities, and due to the majority of Servants having some form of Magic Resistance, this Class is thought to be the weakest of all seven. They make up for this with other means, using magecraft that no longer exists in the current age and, no matter which Heroic Spirit is of which Class, possessing many possible ploys to be used against enemies. Those of the Saber Class can likely challenge any Caster who uses magecraft as their main offensive ability without needing to plan due to their high Magic Resistance, while those of lesser resistance like the Rider Class may require more strategy. Their class abilities are Territory Creation, altering the surrounding lands in favor of their sorcery, and Item Construction, which allows the magus to create magical items and tools.
