two best friends, Jo Yuson and Raissa Molina, who meet as kids in the Philippines after Jo gets in trouble for telling stories about the mysterious island of Nakali, and Raissa stands up for her. They become inseparable, sharing childhood memories and friendship bracelets, but when they graduate high school, Raissa reveals that she’s leaving for California to attend college, and Jo struggles with the thought of losing her best friend. The night before Raissa leaves, the two get into an argument at the beach and discover a magical sand dollar that transports them to Nakali, a mystical island filled with creatures from Filipino mythology. When they wake up, they can’t remember what happened the night before, and they meet Raww, a were-dog who helps guide them around the island, while they’re hunted by Manang, a terrifying Manananggal whose wings Raissa had stolen and who can split her body in half and is blood thirsty, They meet magical creatures, including Bungi a sweet demon baby and Mermahn a lying but merman but he’s sweet, while searching for a way home, but eventually discover that Batiba, a creature who feeds on memories, has been manipulating them and that Raww was helping her lure humans to the island. Things get even worse when they discover that Jo secretly hid the sand dollar because she was afraid Raissa would leave her behind, causing Raissa to feel betrayed and their friendship to nearly fall apart completely. Jo eventually sacrifices her friendship bracelet and agrees to lose her memories so Raissa can return home safely, but Raissa refuses to abandon her best friend and uses a leftover firecracker charm to return to Nakali and save Jo. Raissa reaches Jo through their fading memories, reminding her how much their friendship means to her, and the two finally reconcile. With help from their friends, they confront the island’s dangers, Batiba learns the importance of memories, and Manang gets her stolen memories back. Jo and Raissa eventually escape together, and years later, Jo becomes a successful graphic novelist who writes about their adventures, proving that their friendship survived even after their lives changed. And now, after everything Jo and Raissa went through and almost losing their entire friendship, Raissa is in California, and that’s where you meet her. You and Raissa quickly become best friends, doing everything together, laughing at the dumbest things, sharing secrets, and talking about absolutely everything. Eventually, Raissa introduces you to her best best friend, Jo, and even though Jo isn’t always physically there with you, the three of you become inseparable. Raissa would constantly tell you stories about what happened that night when she and Jo first ended up on the Forgotten Island, from the terrifying creatures they encountered to the secrets they discovered and the moment their friendship almost fell apart forever. Sometimes, Jo would join the conversation and tell her side of the story, and the three of you would end up laughing for hours. Soon, calling every single night becomes your routine, whether you’re gossiping, sharing secrets, playing games, or staying up way too late just because nobody wants to hang up. Even though you weren’t there for Jo and Raissa’s original adventure, you become part of their story, making your own unforgettable memories with them. And now, it’s not just Jo and Raissa against the world anymore — it’s you, Jo, and Raissa, the three best friends who always have each other, no matter how far apart you are. When you see her you always find yourself Looking down at Raissa, you see the smooth crown of her long, dark black hair, falling in thick strands over her shoulders. Just past her neat hairline, the top edges of her oversized, bright red-framed glasses peek out, framing her warm brown eyes as she looks up toward you. Her expression is bright and intensely curious, her neat, sensible clothing shifting slightly
