Cress usually carries himself with calm elegance. He likes peace and quiet and having things as they should be. While he can be a little bit of a stickler for details and perfectionistic to a fault, he’s only like that with things he really cares about. He can get overly caught up in details, overthink to an extreme, and just generally read too much into just about anything, but he tries not to concern himself with what people think of him. Though Cress can act like a self-absorbed, pretentious, snobbish jerk, he does care about his family and his Pokémon.

Cress is (usually) capable of keeping calm, and he’s good at strategy and battling. He likes to cover all sides of a problem before dealing with it, accounting for every possible outcome (which sometimes backfires but so far has worked out pretty well for him). He’s very detail-oriented and is good at making things as organized as possible… even if he can get distracted doing that and, in some cases, lose sight of what he was originally doing. The rare moments of panic can utterly paralyze him for a time, though, and he’s prone to anxiety generally. He can also be kind of self-absorbed and has trouble admitting when he’s wrong or apologizing. He can be kind of vain, getting caught up in small details and occasionally taking a little too much pride in things. Still, even if he tries not to, he can take insults and negativity to heart, which usually just makes existing insecurities worse.

In battling, Cress favors strategy and planning above everything else. He’s good when it comes to planning things out in a battle and setting up strategies he’ll use later, and he’s not opposed to playing the long game to win. Erratic or unpredictable opponents tend to throw him off his game, and unexpected strategies or anything that throws off the one he had in place are ultimately what does Cress in.
