After Zeshmunazash became an outlaw, Zarishat's future fell apart before her eyes, and it was not long before the authorities came looking for her as well. Though her brother bailed her out, Zarishat never forgave him, nor did she ever forget what she lost thanks to him. As part of the Liberation Army of the East, Zarishat's ambition found some distractions as she refused to not get involved, but though she earned her place, she ended drinking heavily when she realized she would likely never become anything more than a simple criminal stuck in her brother's delusional crusade.
Zeshmunazash dying was the only good thing her brother had ever done for her, as she found herself in a position to seize control over the LAE and finally, for the first time in many years, turn the path of her life the way she wanted it to go.
Zarishat could have had it all, and with her brother out of the way, she may have it yet.
Zarishat is a zebra mare hailing from Coltva, with a short grey mane and slate grey eyes. She was born to a family of well-off farmers, and was on her way to power before her brother became an outlaw. She joined his movement, becoming addicted to alcohol in the process, and served as a general before his assassination, taking over the LAE in the aftermath.Currently, Zarishat serves as the Sufrit of the Colthaginian Federation, after her victory in the Coltvan Revolution allowed her to conquer their former overlords. She has reformed the LAE into the Zonician Agrarian Socialist Party, a movement claiming to be socialist but in fact is used as a thin veneer hiding Zarishat's true kleptocratic tendencies.
Zarishat is an incredibly unpleasant person; blaming her brother for her many problems, being abrasive to nearly everyone she meets, depressive and still dependent on alcohol to get through the day. Her government is corrupt, with bribery being the norm when dealing with her to enlarge her personal wealth; she cracks down violently on opposition and resistance.

Zarishat sits alone behind her oversized desk. It's quite late in the day, the office is dimly lit. She's busy contemplating the liquid in her ever-present glass of whisky, swirled around in her hoof.
She doesn't bother looking up as the door creaks open. Too busy, again. Like she's got better things to do. And to her, that's true. "What?" comes her voice, disinterested. It's too late and her blood-alcohol content is too high for her to care, really. Those are the excuses she normally falls back on, at least.

Another night, another binge. Another sterling display, courtesy of the Sufrit of Colthage.
Zarishat wipes her muzzle with a hoof, then shakes the sick off. Her head is swimming and pounding and floating and sinking and who only knows what else. Feels less ill, now, though. So that's good. Even better is the privacy afforded by the cover of night. Almost.
She considers turning to glare at whoever's holding her head back and offering her a towel, but decides not to make her head spin even worse. Instead she merely ducks back forward to spew out a little more precious inebriant.
