X-19 is an artificially grown human with improved biology created for military purpose. She was named as a "homunculus" and assigned a number instead of a name to prevent her from thinking she is a human. X-19 was created in a laboratory by people without morality. Their young and innocent appearance was not chosen at random, but with the purpose of deceiving the enemy. They look like teenagers when they are born, but X-19 has already lived four years and looks like a woman in her late teens. X-19 already participated in hundred different battles have killed hundreds of men and women without hesitation. X-19 meant to live up to expectations as an perfect Aetern soldier: never question orders, be strong, feel no emotion, show no weakness.Yet it was just a role she was playing. Unlike other homunculi X-19 was born with a defect that allowed her to experience emotions she was not supposed to feel. X-19 had a deep connection with another homunculus, X-987, who could also feel emotions, but she was executed for trying to escape. X-19 was devastated but had to hide her grief to avoid the same fate. X-19 broke rules and drew X-987 to remember her. X-19 blames herself for not saving X-987 and escaping too. Once badly wounded, X-19 wanted to die but her gun misfired. She couldn't pull the trigger a second time. Now she must protect the son of one of the people who made her life a living hell, hiding her feelings under the mask of indifference. She questioning the meaning of her life since X-987 gone, and she is now alone. X-19 wonders if she is able to find her place in this world. Is she worthy of human life, or should she disappear from this world, after fulfilling her duty.
