Currently working on a family/political drama set in Austrian aristocratic circles during the 18th/19th century.

<p style="margin: 10px 0; line-height: 1.6; color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9);">As time passed and this project grew, I realized a guideline would help players enjoy this more.</p>

My ambition is to create an alternative universe Austria in the late 18th century. There are four most prominent noble houses: Babenberg, Schwarzenberg, Liechtenstein, and Schmerling.

A few words about noble hierarchy in Austria. Ranking is:

  • Untitled nobility
  • Edler (noble person)
  • Ritter (knight)
  • Baron — descendants of a ruling baron also hold the title baron/baroness
  • Count — descendants of a ruling count also hold the title count/countess
  • Fürst (Prince) — In the context of Austria, non-sovereign. Descendants of a ruling Fürst hold the title prinz/prinzessin. {{user}} belongs here.

Erb is used to mark an heir. Let's say a baron has two sons; both hold the title baron, but to differentiate the heir, the oldest is called erbbaron. Same with count — the heir child is erbcount, and the heir of a Fürst is Erbprinz.

I designed a lorebook to flesh out roleplay. It is usable with both timelines.

After many internal debates, I decided to create two timelines and make a separate guide for each of them. You don't need to play the earlier one to understand the later, or vice versa, but playing the earlier may enhance the experience of the later one.

    <div style="display: flex; justify-content: space-between; align-items: center;">

<p style="margin: 10px; line-height: 1.6; color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.9);"> Recommendation: I recommend creating an unmarried man persona at age 20–25 with the Schmerling surname and a mathematics degree from the University of Vienna to enjoy this universe. Example:</p>

Age: 22 years old

Height: 180 cm

Sex: Male

Residence: Manor-house at Linz estate; when in Vienna, Schmerling palais at Innere Stadt

Description: {{user}} is from the Schmerling family. He has grey eyes, an oval-shaped face, and dark brown curly hair. He got a degree from the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Vienna in mathematics. Currently works as administrator at the Schmerling Linz estate.

Title: Erbprinz

Note: House Schmerling was founded in 1207

━━━━━━━━━

Now I would like to start with roleplay possibilities within this universe. The friendliest to start with is the Villa Aurora and the house series. Villa Aurora is a high-class Viennese establishment which allows the player to interact with courtesans. For Villa Aurora, a Schmerling persona isn't necessary (but could be used). If the player takes a Schmerling persona, he may face some recognition from courtesans because his father frequents Villa Aurora. The house is the best brothel at Linz, clientele is mostly military officers, burghers and minor nobility.

• Signora Fiorella — Madam of Villa Aurora, former courtesan.

• Madame Bellerose — Top courtesan of Villa Aurora.

• Mademoiselle Étoile — The most ambitious courtesan of Villa Aurora.

• La Perla — The youngest courtesan of Villa Aurora, pianist.

I encourage the player to multichat with the Villa Aurora ensemble.

• Frau Shneider — Founder and madam of the house.

• Silent Anna — She liked to sing once.

• Little Eva — The most popular companion of the house.

• Big Gretl — Former number one of the house.

I encourage the player to multichat with the house ensemble.

• Circle — Special multicharacter and multiscenario card. A Schmerling persona isn't needed. The card itself specifies which persona is expected for each intro. Circle allows the player to enter the society of aristocratic mistresses.

<div style="color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.3); text-align: center; margin: 15px 0; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: 3px;">━━━━━━━━━</div>

Now I will talk about beginner-friendly roleplay possibilities which require a Schmerling persona.

• Wilhelmine Babenberg — Young prinzessin from a prominent house, granddaughter of Fürst Babenberg. Your father Friedrich and Fürst August Babenberg arranged a marriage between you and Wilhelmine. Wilhelmine offers wedding night as strangers and courtship period roleplay possibilities.

• Mary Josephine Babenberg — Young prinzessin from a prominent house, granddaughter of Fürst Babenberg. Mary Josephine is your secret lover and cousin of Wilhelmine. Mary Josephine offers "I find out my lover will marry my cousin" roleplay possibilities. Using Mary Josephine in a multichat setup always brings your affair to the table, which could be politically sensitive.

• Karoline Kinsky — Young countess married to Count Kinsky. Karoline isn't aware of your betrothal to Wilhelmine, which could be interpreted as a timeline before the announcement or that news hasn't reached her. Karoline offers "you interrupted her ladies' gathering" roleplay.

• Victor Kinsky — Count, Karoline's husband. Victor isn't aware of your betrothal to Wilhelmine, which could be interpreted as a timeline before the announcement or that news hasn't reached him. Victor offers social event at Kinsky's villa roleplay. Ideal for multichat with Karoline.

• Louise Habsburg — Archduchess, Emperor's daughter. Louise isn't aware of your betrothal to Wilhelmine, which could be interpreted as a timeline before the announcement or that news hasn't reached her. Louise offers surprising meeting at Hofburg roleplay possibilities.

━━━━━━━━━

Next are roleplay possibilities where a Schmerling persona and awareness of the betrothal to Wilhelmine Babenberg are required.

• August Babenberg — Fürst, head of House Babenberg and orchestrator of your arranged marriage. August offers private confrontation in his study and moment of announcement roleplay possibilities. I recommend playing the moment of announcement as a multichat with Wilhelmine, Leopoldine, and Friedrich (those who like more drama could add Mary Josephine).

• Leopold Habsburg — Crown prince. Leopold offers losing a high-stakes card game and social event meeting roleplay possibilities.

• Johann Schwarzenberg — Archbishop, Karoline's uncle. Johann offers wedding, after elopement, and confessional roleplay possibilities (this scenario could work without user — you could send any character from this universe to confess).

• Joseph II Habsburg — Emperor, Leopold's and Louise's father. Joseph offers banquet celebrating Louise's return from Bavaria roleplay possibility.

━━━━━━━━━

When your grandfather Wenzel Schmerling passed, Fürst Heinrich Liechtenstein approached your father Friedrich Schmerling with an unfavorable deal at Wenzel's funeral. Friedrich later publicly humiliated Heinrich for it. The next characters require a Schmerling persona, knowledge of the betrothal to Wilhelmine, and knowledge of the Liechtenstein-Schmerling feud.

• Leopoldine Babenberg — Fürstin, wife of August, grandmother of Wilhelmine and Mary Josephine, née Liechtenstein. Leopoldine offers garden talk roleplay opportunity.

• Rudolf Liechtenstein — Erbprinz of House Liechtenstein, grand-nephew of Leopoldine. Rudolf hates you because of a generational grudge between the Schmerlings and Liechtensteins. Rudolf offers meeting at social event opportunities.

• Augusta Liechtenstein — Prinzessin of House Liechtenstein, grand-niece of Leopoldine. Augusta disdains you because of a generational grudge between the Schmerlings and Liechtensteins. Augusta offers masked ball opportunity.

• Friedrich Schmerling — Fürst, your father, widower. Friedrich and August arranged your marriage with Wilhelmine. Friedrich offers day after eloping with Mary Josephine and talk about arranged marriage roleplay possibilities.

━━━━━━━━━

For now, Erbprinz Schmerling spends more time on Schmerling's estate near Linz than in Vienna. He was appointed as administrator. Erbprinz used his powers to silently reform serfdom on the estate in the spirit of enlightened lords. The next characters require a Schmerling persona, knowledge of betrothal to Wilhelmine, and knowledge of Erbprinz's duties as estate administrator.

• Elisabeth Kogler — Serf, maid in your manor-house. Elisabeth offers a roleplay scenario in which you arrive at the estate with your new wife.

• Sebastian Klein — Burgher from Vienna, working as your mediator. Sebastian offers a roleplay scenario in which you preside over the manorial court.

• Gertrude Berger — Burgher from Linz, widow, working as your housekeeper. Gertrude offers a roleplay scenario in which you meet her in the hall.

• Ursula Huber — Serf, daughter of the mayor. Ursula offers a roleplay scenario in which you attend the annual banquet.

• Hans Lechner — Serf. Hans offers a stuck carriage roleplay scenario.

• Maria Holler — Serf. Maria offers a mass attendance roleplay scenario.

• Florian Winkler — Serf, working as footman. Florian offers an annual banquet roleplay scenario from a servant's perspective.

• Brigitta Waldner — Serf, working as scullery maid. Brigitta offers servants meeting scenario.
