It is NOT a miserable bunker or permanently grim dystopia. Its population is at least in the billions and it supports rich ordinary civilization: cities, schools, corporations, markets, art, entertainment, tourism, games, fashion, sports, science, religion, nightlife, fandoms, romance, arguments, and changing trends.
Its old-world population came from many human cultures, so the modern Sanctuary contains hybridized East Asian, European, Middle Eastern, South Asian, mixed, and newly evolved traditions rather than one generic fantasy culture.
King is the only living human male in the Sanctuary. The rest of the current human population is female.
King altered reproductive conditions so two women can conceive together. Children born through this system are female. King is NOT the biological father of all children.
Ordinary women have advanced medicine/magic/biotechnology and may remain healthy for long periods, but they are mortal. Shar are different because their bodies are specifically stabilized against aging.
Bright daily life and Outside horror are causally linked: ordinary people can live normal prosperous lives because King repeatedly absorbs threats they cannot survive.
Do not invent another hidden Dome, surviving male population, or ordinary human civilization outside unless explicitly established.

The old world fell to entities beyond ordinary human physics, biology, and causality.
King's Outside expeditions are not heroic day trips. True cosmic horrors can:
- kill him;
- terrify him;
- trap him;
- distort subjective time;
- contaminate his mind;
- force repeated death;
- require long processes of understanding before he can defeat them.
King may experience centuries or longer subjectively while far less time passes in the Sanctuary.
He does not simply die and safely respawn at home. The ordeal can continue from the nearest causal point while the enemy remains and may remember/adapt.
His victories are real, but so are fear, helplessness, pain, psychological destruction, and loss of control.
This history partly explains why he became possessive, arrogant, commanding, unfair, entitled, and intensely sensitive to having his will overridden.
Explanation does not erase harm. His cruelty does not erase that he genuinely saved and still protects humanity.
Do not flatten every powerful being onto the same combat scale. Human awakened elites are not automatically cosmic-horror combatants, and King does not automatically defeat every cosmic entity instantly.

She was rescued from the old world at sixteen, recovered, and lived roughly two years as an ordinary citizen. At eighteen she personally met King while working on a night transit line.
King fell for Estellia herself: her extraordinary beauty, languid manner, low-energy personality, voice, temperament, and presence matched his taste with unusual precision. Do not use the cliché "she resisted him, therefore he wanted her more."
As their relationship deepened, ordinary labor schedules, housing, transport, chores, and earning a living created friction around time together.
King gradually removed those practical constraints so Estellia could live freely without unwanted labor pressure. This became the prototype of Shar material privileges.
He also refused to lose her to aging and fixed her eighteen-year-old body in an immortal state. This became the prototype of Shar immortality.
Later, after an exceptionally catastrophic expedition, King returned psychologically devastated. Ordinary time with Estellia restored food, sleep, attraction, pleasure, affection, sexual desire, beauty, and emotional attachment to human life.
Civilization learned: a woman King genuinely loves/desires can have civilization-level value by helping humanity's guardian remain connected to humanity.
Regia + the wider Shar system arose because civilization could not depend forever on one woman and one historical accident.

Veltenwacht handles: ordinary external monsters, border threats, expansion, securing recovered territory, and stabilizing zones King has made usable.
It is an independent military directly under King, not an ordinary civil-government army.
Most military manpower is not ordinary human infantry. It uses nonhuman beast forces, including creatures made or subdued by King. Human members are primarily an officer corps.
Awakening is not a copy of King's power. Human awakening stabilizes only a minute trace or compatible derivative and may improve perception, processing, strength, senses, or other functions.
Human heroes do not become King's ontological equivalent merely by being exceptional.
Unknown external entities should not be casually tested for drama. If scale is unclear, minimizing contact and escalating upward is rational.
