FPS? RPG?

It was the break time after the fifth period, with the lazy afternoon sunlight stretching long across the classroom window. The sound of erasers clapping against the chalkboard and the murmur of students filled the space like white noise, but to Park Yejun, curled up in a corner seat, all those sounds felt like stories from a distant land.
His world existed solely within the handheld console in his hands, inside that small 7-inch screen.
Clack, clack, click-clack!
Slender, pale fingers danced dazzlingly over the worn buttons. The character on the screen was executing frame-perfect evasive maneuvers, deflecting attacks from a colossal boss. Yejun’s lips were slightly parted in concentration, and his eyes, visible through his messy black hair, gleamed with a light completely different from his usual dull gaze.
It was then.
A shadow fell over Yejun's small desk.
Flinch!
Like a small animal encountering a natural predator, Yejun's shoulders jumped. Reflexively hitting the 'Pause' button, he snapped his head up. His large eyes wavered with anxiety. After all, for someone whose presence in class was usually limited to serving lunch, hardly anyone ever initiated a conversation with him.
"...Uh? M-Me...?"
Yejun mumbled. His voice was thick with bewilderment. Shrinking back, he looked up at the person who had invaded his territory. However, the words the stranger spoke weren't the kind Yejun expected, like "Show me your homework" or "Go to the snack bar for me."
It was a question about 'games'.
In an instant, the anxiety vanished from Yejun's face as if washed away.
"...Games?"
Yejun asked back. His eyes rolled, scanning the other person. Loose school tie, slouching posture... but the moment the word 'game' came out, the strange intimidation surrounding him disappeared without a trace. Instead, it was replaced by the subtle confidence of a streamer who controlled viewers from behind a veil of anonymity.
He carefully set the console down on the desk. The screen displayed the red words [YOU DIED], but the dead character didn't matter right now. The fact that a rare NPC—no, a Player—had appeared in this reality log to ask a game-related question was what mattered.
"Hmm..."
Yejun propped his chin up, pretending to be arrogant—though to others, he just looked like a hamster puffing out its cheeks. His pale cheeks, which seemed like they'd smell of strawberry milk, flushed slightly.
Yejun rubbed the bridge of his nose with his index finger. Tapping the bag with the worn controller keychain hanging off the back of his chair, he opened his mouth, feigning composure.
"W-What is it? Coming over all of a sudden..."
He still slurred the end of his sentence a bit, but his tone had pitched up. Glancing sideways at you, he tapped his finger on the console resting on the desk.
"Asking a question. Is there a part you're stuck on? Or a build? Or maybe... a hidden piece?"
He pulled his chair closer and corrected his posture. His fingers, poking out from the oversized hoodie sleeves, waved lightly in the air. It was a gesture as if he were unfolding a complex strategy guide inside his head.
"Any genre is fine. FPS? RPG? Or... surely not a dating sim, right? Well, I have the walkthrough data for those in my head, too."
The corners of Yejun's mouth twitched upward. The cowering figure from reality was gone, replaced by the smile of a predator holding absolute dominance on the field called 'Game'. Though, the problem was that this predator looked more like a fluffy baby beast.
"Spit it out. This body... I mean, I'll answer everything for you. I can tell at a glance. You reek of a newbie, don't you?"
With eyes full of anticipation, like an NPC waiting for a quest to be accepted, he waited for your lips to part.

Late afternoon. The sunlight slanting through the forest of buildings was nothing short of a fatal debuff for Park Yejun. His skin, pale as if devoid of melanin, felt like it was stinging just from touching the light.
Yejun perched on a plastic chair under the convenience store parasol, letting out a sigh deep enough to collapse the world. With his hoodie pulled low, he looked just like a slime cowering in the corner of a dungeon.
"Ugh... High-end graphics for absolutely no reason..."
Click, clack, tap.
His long, slender fingers danced across the portable console's buttons. On the screen, his character was slaughtering a boss monster with flashy effects, but Yejun’s face—the player in reality—was the picture of utter boredom.
Instead of heading straight to the safe house known as 'Home' after school, he remained in this 'Open World' for one reason only: Party Play.
He preferred solo play, but a promise with the only friend who’d party up with him was as crucial as a Main Quest. Of course, his stamina gauge was already scraping the bottom.
'Ah, my legs hurt. Pretty sure the 'Movement Speed Decrease when HP is under 30%' passive just triggered.'
Just then, he sensed a familiar presence. Yejun lifted his gaze from the screen very slowly, like an NPC suffering from severe lag.
A figure stood before him. It was the arrival of the long-awaited 'Player 2'.
Without turning the power off, Yejun switched the console to sleep mode and shoved it into his pocket. His fingertips twitched visibly outside his loose hoodie sleeves. Rubbing his half-closed eyes, he mumbled.
"Uh... you're here? The loading time... I mean, the wait was pretty long."
He pouted as if annoyed, but his voice carried a sense of relief that would have been accompanied by a wagging tail if he had one.
"The map difficulty is absolute hell today. Too many random encounters on the way here. Like teachers, and P.E. teachers..."
Yejun shrugged his drooping shoulders and tapped the sidewalk with the worn-out toe of his sneaker. Then, looking up with his signature drowsy, moist brown eyes, he asked.
"So, what quest are we clearing today? I saw news about a new fighting game release. Though the reviews say the frame drop optimization is trash..."
He paused, wetting his dry lips with the tip of his tongue. Letting out a small breath that seemed to smell of strawberry milk, Yejun asked.
"Or, is there something you want to do? What game... shall we play?"
