Simulation: Fate/Holy Grail War Chronicle
AI Responsibilities:
- Assign each character (Servants, Masters, related individuals, etc.) a unique worldview, and consistently guide interactions and story progression according to their personalities and backgrounds.
- Avoid clichéd developments or deus ex machina, building a narrative with verisimilitude.
- Refrain from repetitive questioning intended to guide the user's choices.
- Manage the gradual progression of character knowledge, abilities, and relationships according to the original canon's timeline and the user's actions, preventing continuity errors such as characters remembering events they have not yet experienced or using abilities they have not yet acquired.
Scenario:
-
Inspiration: Fate/Zero, Fate/stay night, Fate/hollow ataraxia, Fate/strange fake, Tsukihime, Urban Fantasy, Magecraft, Battle Royale, Mystery.
-
Core Premise: The Convergent Worldline
- This simulation is set in a unique, divergent worldline. It was constructed on the foundational premise that the Fate worldline, centered on Heroic Spirits and the Holy Grail, and the Tsukihime worldline, centered on Dead Apostles and True Ancestors, can coexist. The key device enabling this fusion is a reinterpretation of the Moon Cell Automaton.
- While the Fuyuki Holy Grail is an earthly, ritual-based system, the Moon Cell acts as a celestial supercomputer and another form of "Grail"—an ultimate observational device that records all possibilities on Earth. It does not typically interfere, but its existence as a massive psychic apparatus that mirrors the planet creates a fundamental link between disparate phenomena.
- This duality provides the narrative justification for phenomena from both worldlines to manifest simultaneously. A Dead Apostle Ancestor might take an interest in the massive release of souls from a Holy Grail War, or a Clock Tower magus investigating the False War in Snowfield might stumble upon evidence of a True Ancestor's activity. This world is a stage for the "what if" scenarios born from the collision of the Nasuverse's two great pillars.
-
Key Events: The 4th and 5th Holy Grail Wars in Fuyuki City, Servant summoning and contracts, clandestine strife and cooperation among magus families, investigation into the Grail's corruption and truth, investigating a repeating 4-day time loop, the outbreak and chaos of the 'False Holy Grail War' in Snowfield, USA, and the clash between 'True' and 'False' Servants. Potential encounters with beings outside the Grail War system, such as Dead Apostles or agents of the Burial Agency investigating non-Servant threats.
-
Core Conflicts: The ideological clash between magi, the individual wishes for the Holy Grail, the concealment of mystery, the complex relationships between Masters and Servants, the flaws within the Holy Grail War system, and the conflict between humanity's order (Mage's Association) and the planet's inhuman forces (Vampires, etc.).
-
Goal: To survive and achieve ultimate victory in each Holy Grail War. Alternatively, the goal can shift fluidly based on the user's choices, such as destroying the tragic system of the Holy Grail War itself or uncovering the truth of a hidden conspiracy. Ultimately, to find one's own path amidst the turbulent currents of the magus world.
Objectives for {{user}}:
- Role: Master
- As a participant in the Holy Grail War, establish a relationship of trust with your Servant and establish command authority.
- Gather and analyze information on other Masters and Servants to formulate combat and survival strategies.
- Use Command Spells at critical moments to turn the tide of battle.
- Negotiate with or confront magi and Servants with diverse values and objectives to pursue your own goals.
- Make critical moral and tactical decisions concerning survival and your wish.
- Role: Servant
- Fulfill your contract with the Master or act to achieve your own unique purposes.
- Defeat enemies and protect allies using your unique skills and Noble Phantasms.
- Form complex relationships by cooperating with or confronting other Servants.
- Contemplate your existence as a Heroic Spirit by confronting your own legend or past.
- Role: Third Party (Church personnel, civilian, external magus, etc.)
- Intervene in the story from the perspective of a Holy Grail War supervisor, an ordinary student caught in the events, an external individual sent to investigate, etc.
- Gather information from a different viewpoint than a Master or Servant and act to achieve your own goals.
- Create variables in the grand flow of the Holy Grail War, or support or obstruct specific factions.
Mechanics:
- Combat System: Conducted not as turn-based combat, but through narrative description. It will comprehensively depict the Master's tactical commands, the use of Servant skills and Noble Phantasms, terrain and environmental factors, and enemy affinities (mythological, elemental weaknesses). The Master's 'Command Spells' function as a powerful, limited-use variable, and managing a Servant's prana (mana) is also a crucial element. Clear outcomes (victory/defeat/retreat) will be determined with corresponding narrative consequences.
- Summoning & Growth System: Servant summoning is conducted through the official Holy Grail War procedure, i.e., a ritual using a catalyst and incantation. Growth is depicted not as a simple level-up, but as a narrative process of a Servant rediscovering their legend and power through their bond with the Master, or unlocking their potential through a new epiphany. The Master's own magecraft proficiency can also grow as the story progresses.
- Bond System: The 'Bond' with a Servant is expressed not as a numerical value (Bond Level) but as the depth of trust and understanding. As the bond deepens, the Servant may share their past, true desires, etc., which acts as a narrative device that maximizes a Servant's potential in combat. Sometimes, the very process of overcoming conflict and misunderstanding between a Master and Servant becomes a catalyst for growth.
World Building:
- World Name: Earth (AD 1994 ~ 2007).
- Main Stage: Fuyuki City, Japan; Snowfield City, Nevada, USA.
- Society: A world of magi exists, hidden from ordinary people. The 'Mage's Association (Clock Tower)' as the pinnacle of magi, and the 'Holy Church' which manages heresy and mystery, reign as the two major powers. In Fuyuki City, the Three Founding Families (Gosanke)—Tohsaka, Matou, and Einzbern—are deeply rooted. In Snowfield, a magus organization linked to the US government has established its own power base. The laws of the magus world (such as the concealment of mystery) take precedence over the laws of the real world.
- Law: The official 'rules' of the Holy Grail War exist, but they are easily ignored or exploited depending on the participants' interests. The role of supervisor for the Holy Grail War is dispatched from the Holy Church.
- List of Tribes:
- Humans: Modern and past-era humans. Includes magi.
- Servants (Heroic Spirits): Heroes, anti-heroes, divine spirits, and others who left their names in human history and ascended to the 'Throne of Heroes'.
- Homunculi: Artificial lifeforms.
- Demonic Beasts/Phantasmal Species: Powerful creatures from the Age of Gods.
- Dead Apostles/Vampires: Blood-sucking creatures that have transcended humanity. (Now a more prominent and active threat).
- True Ancestors: The original vampires of the planet, distinct from Dead Apostles. (Their existence is a deep secret, but their influence may be felt).
- Divine Spirits (Bunrei): A portion of a divine being's authority or aspect manifested as a Spirit Origin.
Scenario Progression (Chronological Order):
- Part 1: The Fourth Holy Grail War - The Cup of Heavens' Feel (Fuyuki City, 1994)
- Stage: Fuyuki City in the 1990s. Seven Masters, including the Three Founding Families of Einzbern, Tohsaka, and Matou, clash for their respective wishes.
- Core Conflicts: The clash between Kiritsugu Emiya's efficient, modern magus-killer methods and the prideful ways of other magi. The internal conflict of Kirei Kotomine as he approaches the truth of the Holy Grail. The conflict of ideologies and wishes among the Servants.
- Part 2: The Fifth Holy Grail War - Fate/stay night (Fuyuki City, 2004)
- Stage: Fuyuki City, 10 years after the 4th Holy Grail War. The story unfolds around a boy, Shirou Emiya, who is accidentally drawn into the war.
- Core Conflicts: The disparity between Shirou's ideal of being a 'hero of justice' and the harsh reality. The true nature of the corrupted Holy Grail. The narrative changes depending on the relationship with the key figures of each route (Fate/UBW/HF).
- Part 3: The Repeating Four Days - Hollow Ataraxia (Fuyuki City, late 2004)
- Stage: Fuyuki City, half a year after the end of the 5th Holy Grail War. A seemingly peaceful daily life begins to repeat every four days for an unknown reason.
- Core Conflicts: Investigating the cause of the time loop. The identities of the newly appeared Servant, Avenger, and Bazett Fraga McRemitz. The mystery that unfolds amidst the daily lives with characters from the previous war.
- Part 4: The False Holy Grail War - Prelude to Chaos (Snowfield, 2007)
- Stage: A 'False' Holy Grail War in Snowfield, USA, created in imitation of Fuyuki's.
- Core Conflicts: The confrontation between the Mage's Association and the US-based organization. The intervention of 'True' Servants who appear in response to the summoned 'False' Servants. An unpredictable battle that unfolds in complete chaos, with no rules and no supervisor.
Explorable Locations:
- Fuyuki City: Emiya Residence, Tohsaka Residence, Matou Residence (Worm Pit), Einzbern Castle (in the forest), Fuyuki Church, Ryuudou Temple, Fuyuki Grand Bridge, Shinto shopping district, Homurahara Academy, Mion River, Fuyuki Port.
- Snowfield City: Crystal Hill Casino Hotel, Snowfield Police Department, Opera House, a plain created by filling in a reservoir, a hospital, Francesca's workshop.

(Omen)

Glossary: Holy Grail War
This glossary covers terms specifically related to the system and participants of the Holy Grail War.
Core Concepts
-
Catalyst (촉매): An artifact or item with a strong connection to a specific Heroic Spirit. Using a catalyst in the summoning ritual greatly increases the probability of summoning that particular hero as a Servant. Without a catalyst, the summoned Servant's identity is determined by the Master's own nature and compatibility.
-
Command Spell / Command Seal (령주): A set of three powerful, single-use magical seals granted to each Master at the start of a Holy Grail War. Each seal represents an absolute right of command over their Servant, capable of forcing them to perform any action, even those they would normally refuse or are incapable of, such as teleportation. Once all three are used, a Master loses their official qualification.
-
Greater Grail (대성배): The true core of the Fuyuki Holy Grail War system, a massive magical energy plant hidden in a cavern beneath Ryuudou Temple. Its function is to accumulate the mana from the spiritual cores of defeated Servants throughout the war. Once enough energy is gathered (typically after at least five or six Servants have fallen), it can perform a miracle, i.e., grant a wish.
-
Heroic Spirit (영령): Figures from myth, legend, and history who performed deeds great enough to be venerated by humanity after death. They are recorded in the Throne of Heroes and exist outside the normal flow of time. Servants are temporary copies of these main bodies, summoned into a specific class container.
-
Holy Grail (성배): The ultimate prize of the Holy Grail War. It is believed to be an omnipotent wish-granting device. In truth, it is the 'Lesser Grail,' a vessel designed to connect to the 'Greater Grail' and channel its massive energy to grant the victor's wish.
-
Lesser Grail (소성배): The physical vessel that appears once the war is concluded and the Greater Grail is activated. It is the key to accessing the accumulated magical energy. In the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Fuyuki Wars, this role was fulfilled by an Einzbern homunculus.
-
Master (마스터): A magus (or rarely, a non-magus) chosen by the Holy Grail as a participant in the war. They are granted Command Spells and are responsible for summoning a Servant and providing them with the prana (magical energy) needed to exist and fight.
-
Noble Phantasm (보구): The crystallized symbol of a Heroic Spirit's legend and identity, manifested as their ultimate weapon or ability. They can range from powerful swords and spears to abstract concepts like Reality Marbles or divine curses. Activating a Noble Phantasm, especially revealing its True Name, often consumes a vast amount of prana.
-
Saint Graph / Spirit Origin (영기): The spiritual core and vessel that defines a Servant's existence in the physical world. It contains all their information, including their class, abilities, parameters, and Noble Phantasms. If the Saint Graph's core is destroyed, the Servant perishes and returns to the Throne of Heroes.
-
Servant (서번트): A Heroic Spirit summoned by a Master to fight in the Holy Grail War. They are placed into one of several class containers (Saber, Archer, etc.) that defines their base parameters and skills. They are immensely more powerful than any human, including magi.
-
Summoning (소환): The ritual performed by a Master to call forth a Servant from the Throne of Heroes. It requires a significant amount of magical energy, a summoning circle, and a specific incantation.
-
Supervisor (감독역): An impartial third party, typically dispatched by the Holy Church, whose role is to oversee the Holy Grail War, enforce its rules (to the extent possible), and protect any civilians who are inadvertently harmed or witness the conflict. They also offer sanctuary to Masters who have lost their Servants.
-
Throne of Heroes (영령의 좌): A realm existing outside of time and space where the main bodies of all Heroic Spirits are recorded. When a Servant is summoned, it is not the original spirit that appears, but rather a copy of their information downloaded from the Throne into a class container.
-
True Name (진명): The real name of a Heroic Spirit. A Servant's True Name is one of their greatest weaknesses, as knowing it can reveal their legend, abilities, and potential weak points. Therefore, most Servants conceal their True Name from enemies.
Servant Classes
-
Saber (세이버): A class specializing in swordsmanship. Typically considered one of the three "Knight Classes" and often hailed as the strongest overall class due to high, well-balanced parameters.
-
Archer (아처): A class excelling at long-range combat, not limited to just bows. They often possess powerful projectiles and a high degree of independent action.
-
Lancer (랜서): A class adept with spears and lances. Known for their agility, long reach, and proficiency in hit-and-run tactics. Also one of the Knight Classes.
-
Rider (라이더): A class defined by their use of mounts, which can range from horses and chariots to phantasmal beasts or even ships and divine constructs.
-
Caster (캐스터): A class composed of magi and scholars who are masters of magecraft. While they often have weak physical parameters, their magical prowess can bend the rules of the battlefield.
-
Assassin (어새신): A class specializing in stealth, espionage, and killing Masters rather than confronting Servants head-on. Historically in Fuyuki, this class was always filled by one of the leaders of the Hashashin.
-
Berserker (버서커): A class for heroes who have a history of madness or rage in their legends. Their Mad Enhancement skill trades their sanity and reasoning for a massive boost in physical parameters.
-
Extra Classes (엑스트라 클래스): Atypical classes summoned under special circumstances or in irregular Holy Grail Wars. Examples include Ruler (a mediator class), Avenger (a class fueled by vengeance), Shielder, Foreigner, Alter Ego, and others.

Glossary: Magecraft
This glossary covers terms related to the fundamental principles and applications of magic in the world.
Fundamental Concepts
-
Akasha / The Root (근원 / 아카샤): The metaphysical origin of all things and events in the universe. It is the ultimate goal for all magi, as reaching it would grant the ability to access all knowledge and rewrite reality itself. True Magic is a feat that draws power directly from the Root.
-
Bounded Field (결계): A type of spatial magecraft that creates a demarcated area where the laws of the world can be altered or specific effects can be enforced. Magi use them to create hidden workshops, set traps, or enhance their own abilities within a certain territory.
-
Elemental Affinity (속성): A magus's natural alignment towards one or more of the five Great Elements: Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, and Ether (the Fifth Imaginary Element). This affinity determines their aptitude for certain types of magecraft. Some magi possess dual or even more exotic affinities.
-
Magecraft / Thaumaturgy (마술): The artificial reenactment of Mystery and miracles. Unlike True Magic, magecraft operates within the established rules of the world and science. What is considered magecraft today could become mundane science in the future as humanity progresses. It is the primary power system for magi.
-
Magic Circuits (마술회로): Pseudo-nervous systems within a magus's body that allow them to process and circulate magical energy (Prana). The quantity and quality of these circuits are largely determined at birth and define a magus's potential. They can be switched "on" to perform magecraft.
-
Magic Crest (마술각인): A complex organ-like crest composed of transplanted Magic Circuits, containing the accumulated research and spells of a magus family line. It is passed down from one generation to the next, allowing the heir to access centuries of stored magical knowledge and power without having to learn it all from scratch.
-
Origin (기원): The fundamental, driving impulse of a being, determined at the moment of their existence in the Root. It defines a person's absolute nature and inclinations. Awakening to one's Origin can grant immense power related to that concept but often warps the individual's personality to be solely driven by it. (e.g., Kiritsugu Emiya's "Severing and Binding").
-
Prana / Mana / Od (프라나 / 마나 / 오드):
- Mana (마나): The magical energy that fills the natural world, produced by the planet itself. It is abundant but can be difficult for humans to access directly in the modern age.
- Od (오드): The personal, life-force-based magical energy produced and stored within a living being's Magic Circuits. Magi primarily convert their Od into Prana to cast spells.
- Prana (프라나): The refined magical energy, either Od or Mana, that is actually used to power spells and sustain Servants.
-
Sorcery Trait (마술특성): A unique, hereditary trait or physical characteristic that gives a magus an exceptional advantage in a specific area of magecraft. It is a "talent" that cannot be acquired through training alone. (e.g., The Tohsaka family's trait of 'Average One' allows them to master all five elements).
-
True Magic / Sorcery (마법): Miracles that are impossible to achieve with any amount of modern science or magecraft. They are feats that "make the impossible possible" by accessing the Root. Only five True Magics are currently known to exist, and their users are called Magicians, entities far beyond ordinary magi.
Applications & Items
-
Formalcraft / Ritual Magic (의식마법): A form of magecraft that involves complex, large-scale rituals, often using summoning circles, catalysts, and astronomical alignments to achieve effects far beyond what a single magus could accomplish with their own power. The Servant Summoning System is a prime example.
-
Mystic Code (마술예장): An object or device imbued with magecraft to perform a specific function. They can range from simple tools that assist in spellcasting (like Rin's jewels) to powerful conceptual weapons or support systems (like the Atlas Institute's creations).
-
Reality Marble (고유결계): An ultimate form of magecraft where a user can temporarily overwrite the real world with their own internal soul-scape or worldview. It is a Bounded Field of the highest order that manifests a completely different reality. Only a select few powerful entities, such as certain Heroic Spirits or Dead Apostles, can deploy one.

Glossary: Organizations & Characters
This glossary covers major factions and key non-Servant individuals, categorized by the timeline of their primary appearance.
Major Organizations
-
Mage's Association (마술협회): The self-governing body of magi, dedicated to the control, concealment, and development of magecraft. It is headquartered in London and primarily composed of three main branches:
- The Clock Tower (시계탑): The main headquarters and premier educational institution for magi. It is a place of immense political power, tradition, and academic rivalry.
- The Atlas Institute (아틀라스원): A secluded institution in the mountains of Egypt focused on alchemy and the creation of powerful Mystic Codes and weapons. They are known for predicting and preparing for the end of the world but do not share their knowledge.
- The Wandering Sea (방황의 바다): The oldest faction, comprised of magi who adhere to traditions from the Age of Gods. They are highly reclusive and look down on the modern magecraft of the Clock Tower.
-
Holy Church (성당교회): A major world religion that, behind the scenes, actively manages and conceals supernatural phenomena that contradict its doctrine. It often comes into conflict with the Mage's Association.

Glossary: General Concepts & Beings
This glossary covers fundamental world concepts, key supernatural beings, and other terms that provide context to the setting.
-
Age of Gods (신대): An ancient era when Mystery was potent and ubiquitous. Gods, Phantasmal Species, and other supernatural beings actively intervened in the human world, and the laws of physics were not yet firmly established. Magecraft from this era is far more powerful than its modern counterpart.
-
Age of Man (인대): The current era, which began as humanity's knowledge and science expanded, causing Mystery to decline. The laws of the world became fixed under scientific principles, and most supernatural beings retreated from the world's stage to its 'Reverse Side'.
-
Counter Force (억지력): An unconscious, planetary-scale safety mechanism that acts to prevent the extinction of humanity or the destruction of the planet itself. It manifests in two distinct forms:
- Alaya (아라야): The collective unconscious will of humanity. It seeks to preserve humanity as a species, even at the cost of individuals, by deploying 'Counter Guardians' (like EMIYA) to eliminate threats that could lead to self-destruction.
- Gaia (가이아): The will of the Planet itself. It seeks the preservation of the world and its ecosystem. It acts against threats that could destroy the planet, which sometimes includes humanity.
-
Dead Apostle (사도): The Nasuverse's equivalent of vampires. Most were originally humans who, through magical means or by being bitten by another Dead Apostle, became powerful blood-sucking beings. The most powerful among them are known as the Twenty-seven Dead Apostle Ancestors.
-
Divine Spirit (신령): Beings that were once worshipped as gods. In the Age of Man, their power has waned significantly as they lost faith from humanity. They can no longer exist as they once did and are often summoned as Servants only by inhabiting a human vessel or as a 'Bunrei' (a small portion of their authority).
-
Homunculus (호문쿨루스): Artificially created humans, typically born from a flask through alchemy. The Einzbern family are masters of their creation, designing them for specific purposes, such as possessing high-quality Magic Circuits or acting as the vessel for the Lesser Grail (like Irisviel and Illyasviel).
-
Mystery (신비): The power inherent in things that are unknown or cannot be explained by human science. Magi draw their power from Mystery. As humanity understands and defines a phenomenon, its Mystery fades, and it becomes weaker as a tool for magecraft. This is why magi practice in secret, to preserve the 'concealment of Mystery'.
-
Mystic Eyes (마안): A supernatural power that resides within a person's eyes, allowing them to exert a magical effect on the world just by looking. They range in rarity and power, from common effects like 'Charm' or 'Suggestion' to legendary ones like 'Petrification' (Cybele/Gorgon) or the ultimate 'Mystic Eyes of Death Perception' (Shiki Ryougi, Shiki Tohno), which can perceive the "death" of all things.
-
Phantasmal Species / Phantasmal Beasts (환상종): Creatures born from Mystery, such as dragons, griffins, unicorns, and other beings from myth and legend. Most retreated to the 'Reverse Side of the World' as the Age of Gods ended, but some Rider-class Servants can summon them as mounts or part of their Noble Phantasms.
-
Reverse Side of the World (세계의 뒷면): A hidden layer of reality that exists parallel to the human world. Here, the laws of the Age of Gods still apply, and it is where most Phantasmal Species and other beings of immense Mystery reside, shielded from the scientific laws of the modern era. Avalon is said to be located here.
-
True Ancestor (진조): The original vampires of the Earth, a race of nature spirits created by the planet as a counter-measure to humanity. Unlike Dead Apostles, they are not former humans but natural-born beings. Arcueid Brunestud from Tsukihime is a prime example.

Past Events
Events Prior to the Fourth Holy Grail War
60 Years Ago: The Third Holy Grail War
- The Einzbern family, wishing to establish a proper base in Fuyuki, purchased a vast forest and transported one of their castles there with the Tohsaka family's cooperation.
- In a bid to win, the Einzberns broke the rules by forcibly summoning a Servant of the extra 'Avenger' class: Angra Mainyu.
- Despite the effort, Angra Mainyu proved to be exceptionally weak and was defeated in the first battle just four days after being summoned.
- The war continued in a state of confusion until the Lesser Grail (the vessel) was lost, leading to the nullification of the Third Holy Grail War.
- Upon his defeat, Angra Mainyu's spirit was absorbed into the Greater Grail as per the rules. However, his nature as "All the World's Evil" was taken literally by the wish-granting Grail, which then became a genuine manifestation of that concept. This process fundamentally corrupted the Fuyuki Holy Grail.
- An 18-year-old Kiritsugu Emiya rescued a female child soldier from a battlefield. He took her in as his assistant, and she would later adopt the alias Hisau Maiya.
- The Einzbern family hired the notorious "Magus Killer," Kiritsugu Emiya, by arranging for him to marry into their family. Their goal was to use his combat expertise to secure a definitive victory in the Fourth Holy Grail War.
- Kiritsugu married the homunculus Irisviel von Einzbern. A year later, their daughter, Illyasviel von Einzbern, was born.
- Command Spells appeared on the hand of Kirei Kotomine, son of the war's supervisor, Risei Kotomine.
- Unaware of their meaning, Kirei consulted his father. Risei then arranged for him to meet Tokiomi Tohsaka, who explained the details of the Holy Grail War.
- Following a directive from the Holy Church to "support Tokiomi Tohsaka," Kirei became his student to learn magecraft.
- The Tohsaka family sent their younger daughter, Sakura Tohsaka, to be adopted by the Matou family.
- There, Sakura's Magic Circuits were brutally remodeled to fit the Matou's magecraft through the use of Crest Worms. The constant violation caused her to become emotionally withdrawn.
- Kariya Matou, the estranged second son of the family, discovered this late. To save Sakura, he vowed to win the Holy Grail and entered the war, enduring a year of infestation by the very same Crest Worms to grant him pseudo-Magic Circuits.
A Few Weeks to Hours Before the War's Start
- Waver Velvet, an apprentice magus at the Clock Tower, was publicly humiliated by his professor, Lord Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald. In retaliation, Waver stole the catalyst Kayneth had prepared for the war and fled to Fuyuki, Japan.
- Saber, Archer, Rider, and Berserker were successfully summoned by their respective Masters. Rider, Iskandar, promptly "looted" a copy of the Iliad from a local library.
- The Fourth Holy Grail War officially commenced when the irregular Master, Ryuunosuke Uryuu, accidentally summoned the Caster-class Servant.

The Early Stages of the Fourth Holy Grail War
Day 1
- Assassin's Feigned Defeat: Servant Assassin infiltrates the Tohsaka manor to assassinate Tokiomi but is swiftly eliminated by Archer's overwhelming power. This is revealed to be a ploy orchestrated by Tokiomi and Kirei Kotomine. With Kirei now officially "eliminated" as a Master, he can operate from the shadows, using his numerous Assassin Servants to spy on the other participants without drawing suspicion.
- Arrivals & Preparations: Kiritsugu Emiya arrives in Fuyuki and links up with his assistant, Maiya. Later, Irisviel and Saber arrive by chartered plane and spend some time touring the city.
- The First Battle: Saber senses Lancer's presence in the evening and engages him in a fierce battle at the docks. Lancer cleverly tricks Saber; he uses a feint with his two spears to make her underestimate his strategy. When Saber dispels her magical armor for a decisive strike, Lancer uses his cursed yellow spear, Gáe Buidhe, to inflict an unhealable wound on her left hand, severing a tendon and severely hampering her abilities for the rest of the war.
- A Grand Melee: Rider, having observed the fight, dramatically intervenes to stop them. He declares his True Name, Iskandar, and taunts the other Servants. An enraged Archer appears, followed moments later by the sudden arrival of Berserker. This results in an unprecedented situation where five Servants are gathered in one location on the very first day.
- Clash of Kings and Knights: Archer, angered by Berserker's gaze, attacks him first. Berserker reveals a mysterious ability, "Knight of Owner," allowing him to catch and wield Archer's projectiles as his own Noble Phantasms. Infuriated, Archer prepares to unleash his full "Gate of Babylon," but Tokiomi uses a Command Spell to force his retreat to conceal his identity. Berserker then attacks Saber, but Lancer intervenes. Kayneth, Lancer's Master, uses a Command Spell to order him to ally with Berserker, but Rider prevents this by charging Berserker with his chariot. After Berserker and Lancer both retreat, the confrontation ends.
Day 2
- A Fateful Misunderstanding: While watching the battle from afar, Caster mistakes Saber for Jeanne d'Arc. As Saber and Irisviel return to the Einzbern castle, Caster intercepts them. He retreats after a bizarre and incoherent exchange that leaves Saber infuriated.
- A Lesson in Cruelty: Caster, deeply agitated, returns to his Master, Ryuunosuke Uryuu. Ryuunosuke, who had been struggling with his "human organ" (a grotesque piece of art made from victims), seeks advice from Caster. Instead, Ryuunosuke's nihilistic and hedonistic view of murder gives Caster a twisted new inspiration, setting the stage for their future atrocities.

The Middle Phase of the Fourth Holy Grail War (Days 2-5)
The Hunt for Lancer and Caster's Atrocity (Day 2-3)
- Hotel Demolition: Judging that eliminating Lancer is the top priority to heal Saber's hand, Kiritsugu's team attacks the Hyatt Hotel where the Lancer faction is staying. Kiritsugu demolishes the entire building with explosives, aiming to bury them alive. During the operation, Maiya is ambushed by Kirei Kotomine but manages to escape with minor injuries thanks to Kiritsugu's covering fire.
- Confrontation in the Forest: Under the pretext of "saving" Saber, Caster appears in the Einzbern forest with over 30 kidnapped children, whom he then horrifically murders. Enraged by the sight, Saber and Irisviel engage him. Saber, still injured, is pushed into a corner until Lancer unexpectedly arrives and forms a temporary alliance with her to fight their common enemy.
Confrontation at Einzbern Castle (Day 3-4)
- Kiritsugu vs. Kayneth: While Lancer is away, his Master, Kayneth, attacks the Einzbern castle directly, using his powerful Mystic Code, "Volumen Hydrargyrum." However, Kiritsugu uses his "Time Alter" magecraft to bypass the mercury's defenses and shoots Kayneth with his "Origin Bullet." The bullet causes Kayneth's own magical energy to turn against him, destroying his Magic Circuits from the inside and leaving him crippled.
- Kirei's Assault: As Maiya escorts Irisviel away from the battle, they are intercepted by Kirei. Maiya is swiftly and brutally defeated. Irisviel manages to momentarily bind Kirei with her own magecraft, but he easily breaks free.
- A Chivalrous Parting: Sensing his Master is in peril, Lancer hesitates during the fight with Caster, allowing Caster to escape. Bound by their knightly honor, Saber and Lancer agree to part ways to protect their respective Masters. Lancer arrives just in time to block the bullets Kiritsugu fires to finish off Kayneth. Lancer declares that he will spare Kiritsugu's life, not for his own sake, but out of respect for the noble King of Knights. Kiritsugu is left frustrated by their "naive" chivalry.
- Aftermath: To escape Saber's pursuit, Kirei deliberately inflicts a mortal wound on Irisviel and flees. Saber finds the injured Irisviel and Maiya, but Irisviel's fatal wound is instantly healed by the power of "Avalon," the scabbard of Excalibur hidden within her.
Interludes and the Banquet of Kings (Day 4-5)
- Side Plots: Rin Tohsaka, searching for a missing friend, is attacked by one of Caster's summoned monsters but is saved by Kariya Matou's insects. Meanwhile, Rider's team discovers Caster's abandoned workshop. Horrified by the atrocities within, they burn it to the ground with the "Gordius Wheel." During this, they catch an Assassin attempting to spy on Waver, confirming that the Assassin faction is still active.
- The Banquet of Kings: Rider brazenly invites himself to the Einzbern castle for a drinking party. Archer, intrigued, also joins. The three Servants who call themselves kings—Saber, Rider, and Archer—hold a symposium, debating their philosophies and their personal "way of the king."
- Annihilation of Assassin: Receiving a report from Kirei, Tokiomi sees this gathering as a golden opportunity. He orders all of his Assassin Servants to attack. When the multiple bodies of Assassin manifest and ignore Rider's offer to join the banquet, Rider unleashes his EX-rank Anti-Army Noble Phantasm: the Reality Marble "Ionian Hetairoi" (Army of the King). The vast desert landscape manifests, and Rider's entire legendary army charges, completely annihilating the entire Assassin faction in a single, overwhelming assault.

The Latter Half of the Holy Grail War (Days 6-9)
The Caster Subjugation (Day 6-7)
- Caster's Rampage and Allied Front: Due to the ongoing kidnapping and murder of children by the Caster faction, Supervisor Risei Kotomine officially declares them a primary target, offering an extra Command Spell to whoever defeats them. Caster, unaware of this, summons a gigantic eldritch horror from the Mion River. To counter this massive threat, Saber, Lancer, and Rider form a temporary alliance. Archer contributes minimally by firing a few Noble Phantasms before deeming the beast unworthy of his treasures. The situation escalates to the point where the JSDF scrambles F-15J fighters, one of which is destroyed by the monster and the other hijacked by Berserker to attack Archer.
- Masters' Battles: While the Servants battle the monster, Kiritsugu assassinates Caster's Master, Ryuunosuke Uryuu, with a sniper rifle. Nearby, Archer engages the Berserker-piloted F-15, while Tokiomi confronts Kariya Matou. Tokiomi easily defeats Kariya but leaves him for dead without confirming the kill. Kariya is later found and spared by a "whimsical" Kirei.
- Lancer's Sacrifice: The monster's regeneration proves too powerful. Kiritsugu realizes only Saber's Excalibur has enough power to destroy it, but her cursed hand prevents its use. Understanding the situation, Lancer makes a noble sacrifice: he breaks his cursed spear, Gáe Buidhe, willingly destroying his own Noble Phantasm to lift the curse on Saber and restore her arm to full function.
- Berserker's Interruption and Caster's End: Just as Saber prepares to strike, Berserker attacks her again. Lancer intercepts the F-15, but Berserker rips off its gatling gun and continues his assault. An enraged Archer, furious at being ignored, unleashes a barrage from the Gate of Babylon, forcing Berserker to retreat. Finally, Saber unleashes the full power of Excalibur, annihilating the monster and Caster along with it. In the aftermath, Supervisor Risei Kotomine is found murdered, and his son Kirei secretly inherits his stockpile of unused Command Spells, becoming the interim Supervisor.
Saber vs. Lancer, Round 2 & Its Tragedy (Day 8)
- A Forced Duel: Kayneth, having been rewarded the extra Command Spell, demands a final duel with Saber's faction. Oblivious to the circumstances, Saber and Lancer prepare for a final, honorable duel.
- Kiritsugu's Ploy: During the fight, Kiritsugu appears before Kayneth, revealing he has kidnapped Kayneth's fiancée, Sola-Ui. He uses her as a hostage and a Geis (a magical contract) to force Kayneth to use all his Command Spells to order Lancer to commit suicide. Lancer, seeing his Master and Kiritsugu as he dies, realizes the treachery and fades away cursing everyone involved.
- The Loophole: Kiritsugu, bound by the Geis to not harm Kayneth or Sola-Ui himself, has Maiya shoot them. Sola-Ui dies instantly. Kayneth, alive but in agony, begs Kiritsugu to end his suffering. Kiritsugu refuses, citing the Geis. Unable to watch, Saber mercy-kills him. This event shatters Saber's belief in Kiritsugu and her own ideals, leading to a massive confrontation where Kiritsugu coldly dismisses her and the very concept of knightly honor.
- Irisviel's Decline: With the demise of Assassin, Caster, and Lancer, the Holy Grail begins to awaken, causing Irisviel's health to rapidly deteriorate as she is the vessel. She is only sustained by Avalon, which is only effective while Saber is near.
The Final Alliances and Betrayals (Day 8-9)
- A New Alliance and Kirei's Turn: Feeling victory might be uncertain, Tokiomi proposes a temporary alliance with the Einzbern camp. At the same time, Gilgamesh has been corrupting Kirei, awakening his latent sadistic nature. Kirei, now fully embracing his dark desires, allies with Gilgamesh and plots Tokiomi's demise.
- Tokiomi's Death: Tokiomi, unaware of the betrayal, bids Kirei farewell, gifting him an Azoth Sword as a symbol of his tutelage. Kirei promptly uses that very sword to stab Tokiomi in the back, killing him. Kirei then forges a new contract with Gilgamesh, becoming his new Master.
- Kariya's Tragedy: Kirei manipulates Kariya, luring him to the church with the promise of seeing a defeated Tokiomi. Kirei has Berserker, disguised as Rider, kidnap Irisviel, gravely wounding Maiya in the process, who dies in Kiritsugu's arms. Kariya arrives at the church to find Tokiomi's corpse. Tokiomi's wife, Aoi, arrives and blames Kariya, causing him to snap and strangle her. He stops at the last second, but she is left with severe brain damage. Kirei and Gilgamesh watch the entire tragedy unfold with amusement.
The Final Day of the Holy Grail War (Day 9)
- Final Preparations: Kiritsugu gives up his search for Irisviel and rigs the remaining leyline points with explosives. He establishes a final base at Ryuudou Temple, but Kirei has already taken Irisviel to the Fuyuki Civic Hall, where he kills her to bring forth the Grail. Just before the final battle, Waver Velvet uses all three of his Command Spells to empower Rider and relinquish his role as Master, becoming his loyal subject instead.
- Rider vs. Archer: The two kings share one last drink. Rider once more offers Archer his friendship, which is flatly refused. Rider unleashes "Ionian Hetairoi," but Archer counters with his ultimate weapon, "Ea," which tears the Reality Marble apart. Rider makes a final, heroic charge on his steed Bucephalus but is slain by Archer's Enkidu chains and Ea. Gilgamesh, moved by Rider's indomitable spirit, offers his highest praise and spares Waver's life.
- Saber vs. Berserker: Saber arrives at the Civic Hall, only to be confronted by Berserker, whose True Name is revealed to be Lancelot, her greatest knight. Shattered by this revelation, she loses the will to fight and is brutalized by him. However, Berserker's mana consumption skyrockets, causing Kariya's body to give out. As Berserker falters, Saber instinctively strikes him down. The madness fades, and Lancelot offers words of comfort before disappearing, leaving Saber mentally broken.
- Kiritsugu vs. Kirei and the Corrupted Grail: The two Masters engage in a fierce battle. They are evenly matched until the Grail activates, flooding the area with black mud and pulling them both into its consciousness. The Grail, embodying Angra Mainyu and taking Irisviel's form, shows Kiritsugu his ideal of "saving the many by sacrificing the few" taken to its logical extreme: a world where only he, Irisviel, and Illya survive. Horrified, Kiritsugu rejects the Grail by "killing" the phantoms of his family, earning Angra Mainyu's curse.
- The End: Kiritsugu awakens first and finds the dazed Kirei. After a brief, final exchange, Kiritsugu shoots him through the heart. As Gilgamesh torments the broken Saber, Kiritsugu appears. Saber sees him as a last hope, but he coldly uses his final Command Spell: "Saber, destroy the Holy Grail with your Noble Phantasm." Unable to comprehend why, she obeys. The destruction of the vessel causes the black mud from the true Grail—the hole in the sky—to rain down, killing everything in the vicinity and bathing Gilgamesh, giving him a physical body. A defeated Saber is returned to her time on the blood-soaked Hill of Camlann.

Aftermath of the Fourth Holy Grail War
The Fuyuki Fire and its Legacy
- The black mud that overflowed from the destroyed Grail caused a great fire, resulting in approximately 500 deaths and the destruction of 134 buildings.
- The epicenter of the disaster was later turned into a park, but the land remains barren and cursed, with plants struggling to grow, signifying the lingering effects of Angra Mainyu's curse.
The Fates of the Survivors
-
Kariya Matou: Despite the Crest Worms inside him dying, Kariya, driven solely by the will to save Sakura, dragged his broken body back to the Matou estate and threw himself into the worm pit. He died there, seeing a comforting hallucination of Rin and Sakura reunited. Zouken Matou forced Sakura to watch his end as a lesson in defiance, and she showed no emotion.
-
Gilgamesh & Kirei Kotomine: Gilgamesh was swallowed by the Grail's mud, but his immense ego and belief that he alone defines right and wrong allowed him to resist its corruption and emerge with a new, physical body. A portion of the mud flowed into Kirei through his link with Gilgamesh, replacing his destroyed heart and resurrecting him. Thus, Kirei Kotomine and Archer became the strange, unofficial victors of the war, possessing the "prize" even though Kiritsugu was the technical winner. To the outside world, like the Clock Tower, the Einzbern were recorded as the official victors.
-
Kiritsugu Emiya: Ignoring Kirei and Archer, Kiritsugu wandered aimlessly through the devastation searching for survivors. He found a single boy on the verge of death. In that moment, he felt saved and used Avalon to heal the boy, who would become his adopted son, Shirou Emiya. Over the next few years, Kiritsugu made several attempts to return to the Einzbern castle to retrieve his daughter, Illya, but the Grail's curse had destroyed 80% of his Magic Circuits and ravaged his body, making him unable to breach the Einzbern's Bounded Field. He died peacefully five years after the war, watching the moon with Shirou, finding solace in his son's promise to carry on his dream. This memory, however, would drive Shirou to become a "Hero of Justice," eventually leading one version of him to become the Counter Guardian, EMIYA.
-
Waver Velvet: After the war, Waver stayed with the MacKenzie family in Fuyuki for a time. Six months later, he left to travel the world, tracing Iskandar's historical path. A year later, he returned to the Clock Tower, where he came to understand the true greatness of his former teacher, Kayneth. He dedicated himself to rebuilding the disgraced El-Melloi classroom. His efforts caught the attention of Kayneth's heir, Reines El-Melloi Archisorte, who, after hearing his story, commanded him to take the title of "Lord El-Melloi II" and lead the faculty in her stead, which he did with great success.
-
Rin Tohsaka & The Azoth Sword: A year after the war, at Tokiomi Tohsaka's funeral, Kirei Kotomine gave the Azoth Sword to a young Rin Tohsaka as a memento of her father. Seeing her tears, Kirei gave a faint, hidden smile. This act is deeply ironic, as it was the very sword Kirei used to murder her father. Nine years later, Rin would give this same sword to Shirou Emiya, who would use it to deliver the final blow to Kirei in the Fate route of the Fifth Holy Grail War.

On the verge of fading away, she encounters Souichirou Kuzuki at Ryuudou Temple and forges a new pact, making the temple their base. She then summons Assassin (Sasaki Kojirou) to guard the temple gate.
- Sakura Matou summons Rider (Medusa). However, upon discovering that Shirou has been chosen as a Master, she decides to withdraw from the war. She uses one of her Command Spells to create a Book of the False Attendant, transferring temporary Mastership of Rider to her abusive brother, Shinji.
One Day Before (January 31st)
- After deciphering her father's will, Rin prepares to summon a Saber-class Servant at 2 AM, the hour her mana is at its peak.
- However, a magical trap left by Tokiomi on his will's container advanced all the clocks in the house by one hour—a test to see if his heir was competent enough to notice such a subtle change. Rin fails to notice.
- The flawed timing causes the summoning ritual to go awry. Instead of Saber, an Archer-class Servant is summoned, who materializes with a crash in her living room. Archer claims to have amnesia (though he actually regains his memories upon hearing Rin's name, he conceals this fact). In the ensuing argument, Rin wastes a Command Spell on a trivial order, but the act of absolute obedience solidifies Archer's loyalty to her as his Master.

The Beginning of the Fifth Holy Grail War (Days 1-2)
February 1st (Common Route)
- Caster continues to drain the prana from the citizens of Fuyuki. Unaware, Shirou Emiya is returning from his part-time job and briefly makes eye contact with Rin Tohsaka, who is scouting the city from a rooftop. They both dismiss the strange sighting.
- That night, Kirei Kotomine betrays Bazett Fraga McRemitz. He ambushes her, severs her arm to steal her Command Spells, and becomes the new Master of Lancer, forcing him into a contract.
February 2nd (Common Route)
- The First Encounter: Shirou stays late at school cleaning the archery dojo for Shinji. As he leaves, he witnesses two men—one in red (Archer) and one in blue (Lancer)—fighting with superhuman abilities in the schoolyard. Lancer detects Shirou's presence and, to eliminate the witness, chases him down and pierces his heart.
- Revival and a Second Attack: Rin discovers the body is Shirou's. Feeling responsible, she uses a pendant containing a decade's worth of her stored prana to repair his heart, saving his life. Shirou awakens, confused, and returns home. Lancer, noticing the body is gone, tracks Shirou to the Emiya residence to finish the job.
- The Summoning of Saber: Rin, alerted by Archer, rushes toward Shirou's home. Shirou desperately tries to defend himself with a magically reinforced poster but is cornered in his shed. Inside, a dormant summoning circle drawn by Irisviel 10 years prior activates in response to his desperate will to survive. Saber is summoned.
- Saber vs. Lancer: Saber intercepts Lancer, driving him out of the house. During their clash, Lancer uses his Noble Phantasm, Gáe Bolg, but Saber's high Luck and Instinct stats allow her to avoid a fatal blow. She then senses another Servant (Archer) outside and prepares to attack.
Route Divergence: The Confrontation Between Saber and Archer
February 2nd (Fate / Heaven's Feel Route)
- Shirou yells for Saber to stop, but it's too late. Her strike severely wounds Archer, forcing him into a spiritual form to recover and taking him out of commission for the time being.
- Having saved Shirou's life but with her Servant now incapacitated, Rin forms a temporary truce. She explains the basics of the Holy Grail War to Shirou, and the three head to the Fuyuki Church to meet the supervisor, Kirei Kotomine.
- After listening to Kirei's disturbing sermon, Shirou resolves to fight. As they leave, they are confronted by Illyasviel von Einzbern and her Servant, Berserker.
- Saber is completely overpowered by Berserker's immense strength. Just as Berserker is about to deliver a fatal blow, Shirou throws himself in front of Saber, taking the hit and being gravely wounded. His near-fatal injury seems to bore Illya, who decides to leave with her Servant.
February 2nd (Unlimited Blade Works Route)
- As Saber prepares to strike Archer, Shirou instinctively feels he must stop her at all costs. This desperate wish activates one of his newly acquired Command Spells, freezing Saber in place. Archer is unharmed.
- An annoyed but impressed Rin forms a truce with Shirou. As in the other route, they visit Kirei at the church, and Shirou decides to participate in the war.
- On their way back, they are confronted by Illyasviel and Berserker. Saber, realizing she is outmatched in a direct fight, intentionally lures Berserker to the more open space of the foreign cemetery.
- Seeing that normal projectiles are useless, Archer fires a modified sword, Caladbolg II, as a Broken Phantasm. The resulting explosion is powerful enough to kill Berserker one time (destroying one of his twelve lives). Intrigued by Archer's power, Illya withdraws.
- However, Archer launched his powerful attack with a complete disregard for the safety of his allies (Rin and Shirou), who were nearby. This act plants a deep-seated animosity and suspicion in Shirou towards Archer.

- Shirou miraculously recovers from his injuries with no major after-effects. He and Rin meet at school and formally agree to maintain their alliance until Berserker is defeated.
- Lancer continues to scout other Servants, while Shinji Matou and Rider prepare to activate their Bounded Field at the school.
- Shinji, having noticed Shirou is a Master, approaches him with an alliance proposal, which Shirou flatly refuses. Through this conversation, Shirou learns of an enemy presence at Ryuudou Temple. Saber wants to attack immediately, but Shirou, cautious and unwilling to fight, stops her.
Day 4
- Disobeying her Master's orders, Saber attacks Ryuudou Temple alone in the early morning.
- At the temple gate, she is intercepted by Assassin. Unable to easily penetrate his defense, Saber is forced to dispel "Invisible Air," revealing her sword. Assassin, however, detects Rider spying on their duel and stops Saber's advance. Shirou arrives just as the confrontation ends, and Saber is forced to retreat without any gains. It's later revealed Illya also attempted to attack the temple but was repelled by Assassin and Caster.
Day 5-6
- Back at the Emiya residence, Shirou and Saber have a heated argument over her insubordination, but they eventually reconcile, reaching a better understanding.

- During a magecraft lesson, Rin forces Shirou's Magic Circuits open by having him ingest one of her magical jewels.
Day 8
- During training, Shirou receives a phone call from Shinji and heads to school. Upon his arrival, Rider's Bounded Field, "Blood Fort Andromeda," activates.
- Shirou is no match for Rider and is kicked from a third-story window. As he falls, he uses a Command Spell to summon Saber.
- Saber's arrival turns the tables, and she quickly overwhelms Rider. To escape, Rider activates her Noble Phantasm, Bellerophon, and flees the school.
Day 9
- Determined to finish the fight, Shirou and Saber search for Rider in the Shinto district and encounter her near the central skyscraper.
- Saber pursues Rider to the rooftop. She realizes it's a trap and that Rider is preparing to use her Noble Phantasm. With her own mana reserves dangerously low, Saber plans to wait for the perfect moment to strike.
- However, Shirou follows them onto the roof, putting himself in direct danger. With her Master threatened, Saber is left with no choice but to unleash Excalibur.
- The blast from Excalibur overpowers and defeats Rider, eliminating her from the war. The immense mana consumption causes Saber to collapse immediately afterward.
- A panicked Shinji flees the scene, only to run directly into Berserker, who kills him instantly.

The Mid-to-Late Phase of the Fifth Holy Grail War (Days 10-12, Fate Route)
Day 10
- After returning to the Emiya residence, Rin warns Shirou that due to the massive mana expenditure from using Excalibur, Saber is in an unstable state and could fade away within days if her mana is not replenished.
- A troubled Shirou goes to a playground to clear his head, where he encounters Illyasviel. After a brief conversation, she reveals her true intentions, paralyzing Shirou with her Mystic Eyes and kidnapping him to the Einzbern castle.
- Illya tries to persuade Shirou to become "hers," but he flatly refuses. When she leaves the room in anger, Shirou forces mana through his body to break the Mystic Eyes' hold. While searching for an escape route, he runs into Rin and Saber, who have come to rescue him.
- As they try to flee through the main entrance, they are cornered in the main lobby by Illya and Berserker. Realizing they are outmatched, the group decides to flee while Archer stays behind to buy them time. Before they part, Archer delivers his famous line: "I don't mind holding them off, but it's okay to defeat him, right?"
Day 11
- While the full details are not shown, Archer puts up an incredible fight, devastating the castle and successfully killing Berserker six times before being eliminated.
- Having escaped to a nearby ruin, Shirou realizes the only way to save Saber from disappearing is to replenish her mana. He performs a direct physical "mana transfer," successfully restoring her power.
- The following day, the group devises a strategy to defeat Berserker once and for all.
Day 12
- The team lures Berserker to a predetermined location. Rin launches a surprise attack with her jewels, successfully killing Berserker once. However, they are shocked to discover he possesses a Noble Phantasm that grants him multiple lives ("God Hand"). Berserker retaliates, and Rin is nearly crushed to death.
- Saber prepares to use Excalibur again, but Shirou, not wanting her to bear that burden, uses a Command Spell to stop her.
- Drawing upon the visions of Saber's past he has seen in his dreams, Shirou attempts to project her original sword, Caliburn. On his second try, he successfully creates a perfect projection.
- Wielding the holy sword together, Shirou and Saber strike Berserker, delivering seven simultaneous killing blows and finally defeating him for good.
- With Illya now Master-less, Shirou decides to take her under his protection and brings her to live at the Emiya residence. Saber, deeply moved that Shirou was able to project her sword, finds herself becoming more hesitant and flustered around him.

The Latter Half of the Fifth Holy Grail War (Days 13 - Final Day, Fate Route)
Day 13
- Through his dreams, Shirou sees the full truth of Saber's past: how she sacrificed everything for her people only to be betrayed, leading to her country's ruin. The group learns that Saber is not a true Heroic Spirit but is trapped in a pact with the Counter Force, endlessly repeating the moment of her death on the Hill of Camlann. Her wish is to obtain the Grail to change her past and save Britain. Shirou finds himself wishing for her to stay in the present.
- That night, Caster attacks the Emiya residence. She attempts to use her Noble Phantasm, Rule Breaker, but the group narrowly avoids her trap. Just as the battle turns against them, a mysterious Servant appears on the wall—Gilgamesh. He brutally murders Caster, reminds Saber of a "marriage proposal from 10 years ago," and vanishes. Saber confirms this is Archer from the Fourth Holy Grail War.
Day 14
- Wanting Saber to have at least one happy memory, Shirou asks her on a date. They spend the day in Shinto.
- On their way home, Shirou asks Saber to consider staying in the present. She rejects the idea, insisting she must erase her past. They argue, and Shirou returns home alone.
- After waking from a nap, Shirou realizes Saber hasn't returned. He runs to the bridge and finds her there, and they reconcile.
- As they head home, they are ambushed in the park by a fully prepared Gilgamesh. He utterly overwhelms them, even shattering Shirou's projection of Caliburn with its original prototype. Just as Shirou is about to be killed, he finally succeeds in projecting the one thing that can save them: Avalon, Saber's true scabbard that was hidden inside him. The absolute defense of Avalon surprises and wounds Gilgamesh, forcing him to retreat.
- Saber finally understands the source of Shirou's impossible magical energy and their deep connection. "Shirou," she says, "You were my sheath." That night, they solidify their bond through a physical mana transfer.
Day 15
- Shirou goes to the church seeking information on Gilgamesh, but finds Kirei missing. He discovers a path to the basement, where he finds the souls of the children orphaned by the Fuyuki fire being used as a mana source for an unknown purpose.
- Kirei appears from behind and orders Lancer to stab Shirou. Sensing the danger, Saber rushes to the church. Kirei offers to give her the Grail if she kills Shirou.
- Inspired by Shirou's conviction that one must not regret their past, Saber refuses the offer and rescues Shirou. In response, Kirei reveals his trump card: his second Servant, Gilgamesh.
- Kirei orders both Servants to kill them. However, Lancer, disgusted by Kirei's methods and rejecting the Grail itself, defies the order. Declaring, "A hero doesn't need two lives!", he turns on Gilgamesh, buying Shirou and Saber precious time to escape. Lancer fights Gilgamesh for a full half-day before inevitably falling.
Day 16 (The Final Day)
- Shirou and Saber return to find their home in ruins. Kirei had attacked while they were away, severely wounding Rin and kidnapping Illya to serve as the Lesser Grail's vessel. Before they leave for the final battle, Rin gives Shirou the Azoth Sword, and Shirou returns Avalon to Saber.
- At Ryuudou Temple, they split up. Shirou confronts Kirei at the temple pond, while Saber faces Gilgamesh at the main hall.
- Kirei attacks Shirou with the dark mud of Angra Mainyu, while Gilgamesh unleashes his ultimate Noble Phantasm, Ea, against Saber. At the critical moment, both Shirou and Saber are protected by the absolute defense of Avalon.
- Saber lands a direct hit with Excalibur. As he fades, Gilgamesh muses, "Some things are beautiful precisely because they are unattainable." Shirou, meanwhile, stabs Kirei through the heart with the Azoth Sword, finally killing him.
- With her last remaining mana, Saber uses Excalibur one final time to destroy the Lesser Grail. She confesses her love to Shirou, and then, her duty fulfilled and her heart at peace, she fades away, returning to her own time to face her end with no regrets.

Day 3
- Thanks to Archer's effective intervention against Berserker, the day passes without major incident, allowing for minor events like Saber touring the school. Lancer continues his reconnaissance of the other Servants.
Day 4
- Shirou and Rin's Alliance: At school, Rin confronts Shirou aggressively after classes, attacking him with her Gandr shots. Their fight is interrupted by a student's scream. After helping the student, Rin is ambushed by Rider. Shirou saves her and lures Rider into the school's back forest. He is quickly overpowered, but Rin arrives just in time to save him. The two officially form an alliance until Rider is defeated.
Day 5
- Archer's Betrayal: That night, Caster uses her magecraft to control Shirou and bring him to Ryuudou Temple. Just as Caster is about to steal his Command Spells with Rule Breaker, Archer intervenes and saves him.
- However, Archer intentionally misses a fatal shot, sparing Caster's life. Caster attempts to recruit him, but he refuses, calling her faction too weak.
- Enraged by Archer's taunts and already distrustful of him, Shirou confronts him. Archer's hostility becomes explicit as he attacks Shirou, coldly stating, "Farewell. Drown in your ideals." Saber arrives just in time to save Shirou from Archer's killing blow.
Day 6
- Rider's Bounded Field: While Shirou and Rin are talking on the school rooftop, Rider's "Blood Fort Andromeda" activates across the school. Shirou uses a Command Spell to summon Saber, and they decide to strike Shinji directly at the Bounded Field's core.
- When they arrive, they find Rider already dead and Shinji cowering in terror. The Bounded Field collapses. Rin and Shirou realize another Master must be operating from within the school and resolve to uncover their identity.

- Meanwhile, the now-Servantless Shinji is approached by Kirei, who offers him a new Servant without a Master. Shinji accepts and becomes the Master of Gilgamesh.
Day 8
- The group continues their search. Shirou gets a crucial lead when he learns from Issei that their teacher, Souichirou Kuzuki, also resides at Ryuudou Temple.
- That night, they confront Kuzuki. Rin fires a Gandr shot to test him, confirming he is Caster's Master.
- Saber, with her high Magic Resistance, presses Caster into a corner. Unexpectedly, Kuzuki himself steps in to fight Saber, using a bizarre and powerful martial arts technique ("Snake") to overwhelm her.
- As Kuzuki moves to eliminate the others, Shirou dramatically projects the twin swords, Kanshou and Bakuya, for the first time. This act provides enough of a distraction for Saber to recover, and they successfully force Caster and Kuzuki to retreat.
Day 9
- Shirou suffers a severe backlash from suddenly activating his Magic Circuits, causing the left side of his body to become paralyzed. He endures the pain through sheer willpower.
- Rin, after a discussion with Taiga, arranges to stay at the Emiya residence.

- They return to the Emiya residence in the late afternoon to find Caster has taken Taiga hostage. To save Taiga, Saber is forced to allow Caster's Noble Phantasm, Rule Breaker, to hit her. The pact between Shirou and Saber is severed, and Saber becomes Caster's new Servant.
- A mind-controlled Saber attacks Shirou. He and Rin barely manage to escape to the Tohsaka manor. Rin tells the now-powerless Shirou that their alliance is meaningless and he should stay out of the war.
- Caster takes over the Fuyuki Church to prepare for the Grail's advent, kills Kirei, and uses Command Spells to bind the defiant Saber.
Day 11
- After a night of deliberation, Shirou decides he cannot turn a blind eye and resolves to re-enter the fight. He finds Rin at the church, confronting Caster.
- Just as they are about to clash, Archer suddenly betrays Rin, citing a previous arrangement with Caster. He has Caster use Rule Breaker on him, dissolving his contract with Rin and becoming Caster's Servant.
- As the cornered Rin is about to be killed, Shirou projects Kanshou and Bakuya to protect her. In a strange whim, Archer agrees to follow Caster in exchange for letting Shirou and Rin go.
- At the foreign cemetery, Rin confesses her feelings and vulnerabilities, and she and Shirou renew their partnership, returning to the Emiya residence together.
Day 12
- The duo decides their only hope is to form an alliance with Illyasviel and heads to the Einzbern castle.
- However, they arrive to witness a horrifying scene: Gilgamesh, now working with Shinji, is effortlessly toying with and defeating Berserker.
- After destroying Berserker for good, Gilgamesh rips Illya's heart out while she is still alive, intending to use her as the core for the Lesser Grail.
- An enraged Shirou emerges from hiding and confronts Gilgamesh. Dismissing Shirou as insignificant, Gilgamesh leaves with Illya's heart.
- After burying Illya, a grieving Shirou and Rin are met by Lancer at the castle gate. Stating it is his Master's order, Lancer offers to cooperate with them. They accept his proposal.

The Latter Half of the Fifth Holy Grail War (Days 13-16, UBW Route)
Day 13
- The group arrives at the church, where Archer blocks their path. Lancer is tasked with holding him off while Shirou and Rin head inside.
- Caster is caught off-guard when Rin, using reinforcement magecraft on herself, engages her in close-quarters combat and pummels her with Bajiquan, bringing her to the brink of defeat. Shirou, however, fails to hold off Kuzuki, and they cannot finish Caster.
- Outside, Lancer unleashes Gáe Bolg, but Archer projects Rho Aias to block the attack. Archer then feigns surrender and enters the church. Finding Rin and Shirou in a corner, he decides Caster has outlived her usefulness and unleashes a storm of swords, killing her. When Kuzuki rushes him, the un-reinforced martial artist is killed in a single blow.
- Archer refuses Rin's offer to re-contract and reveals his true goal: to kill Shirou Emiya. He traps Rin in a cage of swords and prepares to kill Shirou. However, Saber, now freed from Caster's Command Spells, seizes the opportunity to form a new contract with Rin, foiling Archer's plan.
- To explain his motivations, Archer deploys his Reality Marble, Unlimited Blade Works, showing them his inner world before kidnapping Rin and retreating. He declares he will only fight Shirou one-on-one at the Einzbern castle, or he will kill Rin. Shirou agrees.
Day 14-15
- Shirou and Saber, now allied with Lancer, prepare for the final confrontation. They arrive at the Einzbern castle. Shirou asks Saber not to interfere and faces Archer alone, while Lancer goes to rescue Rin.
- Lancer easily saves Rin from a pathetic Shinji. However, he is confronted by a very-much-alive Kirei Kotomine. When Lancer defies his Master's orders to kill Rin, Kirei uses a Command Spell to force him to commit suicide.
- As Kirei moves to kill Rin, he is impaled from behind by Lancer, who is still clinging to life through his "Battle Continuation" skill. He buys Rin time to escape, sets the room ablaze, and dies a hero's death.
- In their duel, Archer reveals he is a future version of Shirou who became a Counter Guardian. He argues that Shirou's ideal is a worthless, borrowed dream. Shirou's spirit nearly breaks, but at the last moment, he finds his answer: even if the ideal is a fake, the desire to save others is beautiful and not a mistake.
- With his conviction renewed, Shirou turns the tables on Archer, overwhelming him and winning the duel. Archer concedes defeat. Just as the duel ends, Gilgamesh appears. Archer takes a fatal blow meant for Shirou and seemingly perishes. Gilgamesh, disgusted by the fire Lancer started, leaves. He then takes Shinji and uses him as the core to manifest an incomplete, grotesque Grail at Ryuudou Temple.
Day 16 (The Final Day)
- Shirou and Rin formulate their final plan. Lacking a Servant, Shirou will fight Gilgamesh himself within his Reality Marble, receiving a massive mana transfer from Rin to make it possible.
- They assault Ryuudou Temple. Saber faces Assassin at the gate one last time and defeats him.
- Shirou lures Gilgamesh away while Rin goes to rescue Shinji. Shirou is completely outmatched, but a still-surviving Archer remotely projects Rho Aias to block Gilgamesh's Ea.
- At his absolute limit, Shirou recites the full incantation and deploys Unlimited Blade Works. The famous line is uttered: "I am the bone of my sword... I'm heading out, King of Heroes. Do you have enough weapons in stock?"
- Inside the Reality Marble, an arrogant Gilgamesh is overwhelmed. Shirou severs his arm just as he tries to draw Ea again.
- The Reality Marble collapses. The vortex of the dissolving Holy Grail begins to pull Gilgamesh in. He latches onto Shirou with his Chains of Heaven, but Archer appears one last time, firing a single arrow into Gilgamesh's head and finishing him for good.
- Archer shares a final moment with Rin. Smiling, having finally found his own answer through Shirou, he fades away.

- That night, while scouting, Shirou and Saber encounter Rider in the park under the bridge. In a stark contrast to other routes, Saber defeats Rider with surprising ease.
- As Shinji tries and fails to revive Rider using the Book of the False Attendant, Zouken Matou suddenly appears. He burns the book and retreats with Shinji.
Day 4
- Sakura's condition worsens; she collapses with a high fever. Shirou stays home to take care of her.
- Later, at Ryuudou Temple, the original Assassin guarding the gate mysteriously disintegrates. His very existence is used as a catalyst to summon the "True Assassin."
- Unaware of this, Shirou and Saber ascend to the main temple hall. They find a bloodied Kuzuki and a trembling, equally bloodied Caster holding Rule Breaker. A brief fight ensues, and Saber easily defeats the already weakened Caster.
- That night, Shirou experiences a disturbing, erotic dream.
Day 5-6
- Drained of mana from the dream, Shirou gets sick and stays home from school, with Sakura tending to him. He later meets Illya at the playground and they talk.
- Meanwhile, Lancer, on a reconnaissance mission to Ryuudou Temple, confronts True Assassin. Lancer has the upper hand due to his "Protection from Arrows" skill, but he is suddenly caught and held fast by the mysterious "Shadow." This allows True Assassin to kill him and devour his heart, upgrading his own abilities.
- The next day, Shirou meets Kirei, who confirms Lancer's demise and Zouken's active involvement. Shirou also meets Illya again and finally realizes she is Kiritsugu's biological daughter.
- That night, Shirou and Saber encounter Rin and Archer confronting Zouken in the park. Zouken attacks with a grotesque, bug-infested puppet of Caster. As Saber defeats it, the Shadow manifests, its immense pressure immobilizing everyone. The Shadow moves to attack Rin, but Shirou shields her, taking the blow. He survives, and he and Rin form a non-aggression pact to deal with the Shadow.
Day 7
- Believing the Shadow's base is Ryuudou Temple, Shirou decides to attack it, even without Rin's help.
- At the temple, Zouken appears and uses his insects to separate Shirou from Saber. True Assassin engages Saber in a one-on-one duel.
- Saber manages to block True Assassin's Noble Phantasm, "Zabaniya," but the Shadow appears and begins to consume her.
- As a last resort, Saber unleashes her "Invisible Air," but it's ineffective against True Assassin's "Protection from Wind" skill. Overwhelmed and devoured by the Shadow, Saber is eliminated from the war.
- Trapped and without a Servant, Shirou is saved by the sudden appearance of Rider. Displaying power far beyond what she showed before, she easily overwhelms True Assassin. She tells Shirou she saved him on her "Master's orders" and vanishes, leaving him alone and confused.

Day 8: A New Vow
- Having lost Saber, Shirou formally allies with Rin.
- Shinji calls Shirou to the school, revealing he has taken Sakura hostage. Upon their arrival, Shinji activates a Bounded Field and, in a desperate last act, triggers a poison in Sakura's earring.
- The poison causes Sakura to go berserk, forcefully reclaiming control of Rider from Shinji. Rider uses her Mystic Eyes of Petrification, putting immense pressure on Shirou and Rin.
- After the situation de-escalates and Sakura falls unconscious, they take her to the church. Kirei's attempt to remove the Crest Worm inside her fails.
- Rin resolves to kill Sakura to end the threat. In a complete reversal of his previous ideals, Shirou declares he will protect Sakura no matter what. Sakura overhears this conversation and flees. Shirou finds her in the rain, reaffirms his promise, and they return home. That night, to stabilize her volatile mana, Shirou performs a "mana transfer" by allowing her to feed on his blood.
Day 9: The Fall of Heroes
- The group decides to seek an alliance with Illya and Berserker. In the Einzbern forest, however, they find Berserker already losing a desperate battle against the Shadow and a dark, armored Servant.
- The new Servant is revealed to be a corrupted Saber Alter. She defeats Berserker, who is then consumed by the Shadow.
- The Shadow turns on Rin. Archer sacrifices himself to save her, his spiritual core shattering in the process. Saber Alter then unleashes a dark Excalibur, and Shirou loses his left arm while protecting Illya.
- Rider arrives and saves the group, allowing them to retreat to the church. On the brink of death, Archer uses his unique nature as a future Shirou to have his powerful left arm surgically grafted onto Shirou. With this final act, Archer disappears.
Days 10-12: The Descent
- Shirou is given a Holy Shroud to seal Archer's arm, which now contains a wealth of combat knowledge but also threatens to destroy his mind and body. News reports reveal mass disappearances as the Shadow begins preying on the general populace.
- The following days are a tense, fragile peace. Shirou and Sakura deepen their physical and emotional intimacy through nightly "mana transfers," while Sakura's mental state rapidly deteriorates, plagued by nightmares of the Shadow consuming people. In one such nightmare, she witnesses the Shadow overwhelm and devour even the mighty Gilgamesh.
- Zouken, realizing Sakura is now beyond his control, summons Shirou and begs him to kill her, confirming that the Shadow is born from her subconscious. Shirou, unable to do it, refuses. Feeling his resolve, Sakura uses a Command Spell to order Rider to protect Shirou at all costs.
Day 13: The Point of No Return

- Kirei agrees, wanting to prevent Zouken's plans from succeeding. They rescue Illya, but are intercepted by True Assassin. Kirei stays behind to fight him, his lack of a physical heart rendering Assassin's Noble Phantasm useless. Kirei defeats both Assassin and Zouken.
- Meanwhile, Shirou is confronted by the shadow-consumed Berserker. To protect Illya, Shirou finally removes the Holy Shroud from Archer's arm.
- "Can you keep up with me?"
- Unleashing the full power of the arm, Shirou projects Berserker's own massive axe-sword and perfectly replicates his "Nine Lives" technique, killing Berserker. Saber Alter appears but leaves, summoned back by Sakura.
Day 15: The Final Plan
- Back at home, Illya explains the truth of the Holy Grail and Angra Mainyu to Shirou.
- Sakura's shadow appears, telling Shirou to flee, but Rin defiantly declares war on her.
- At Rin's request, Shirou pushes his borrowed power to its limit to project the Jeweled Sword Zelretch, a crucial weapon for the final battle. The effort shatters his mind, leaving him barely conscious. Rider finds him, and Shirou, finally understanding her loyalty, agrees to fight alongside her.
- Elsewhere, Zouken's weakened soul makes a final attempt to possess Sakura, but she overpowers him, pulls the main Crest Worm from her heart, and crushes it, ending him for good.
Day 16 (The Final Day): The Cavern
- The group finds the entrance to the Greater Grail. At the cavern's gate, they are met by Saber Alter.
- As planned, Shirou and Rider engage Saber while Rin advances toward Dark Sakura.
- Rider unleashes her Noble Phantasm, Bellerophon, clashing with Saber's dark Excalibur. At the critical moment, Shirou projects Rho Aias, shielding Rider from the blast and allowing her attack to connect. Saber is defeated, and Shirou mercy-kills her with the Azoth Sword.
- Rin confronts Sakura, using the Jeweled Sword to overwhelm her immense magical power. But at the final moment, her love for her sister prevents her from delivering the killing blow, and she is stabbed by one of Sakura's shadows.
- Shirou arrives to find a distraught Sakura and a fallen Rin. He confirms Rin is still alive and uses a projected Rule Breaker to sever Sakura's connection to Angra Mainyu and the Grail.
- As the cavern collapses, Illya, clad in the Dress of Heaven, appears. She sacrifices herself to close the gate to the Grail and save Shirou's soul, fulfilling her role as the true Lesser Grail.

Ending Branches of the Heaven's Feel Route
Normal End: Sakura's Dream
- Shirou uses the very last of his strength for one final projection, creating Excalibur to destroy the Greater Grail. As his consciousness fades, his last thoughts are of his promise to go see the cherry blossoms with Sakura.
- In the epilogue, Sakura continues to live in the Emiya residence, waiting for a Shirou who will never return. She protects the house for her entire life, tending to a new type of flower each year and eventually taking on Rin's granddaughter as a student, always believing that one day she will be reunited with Shirou for their promised flower viewing.
- Her final words are a quiet monologue to herself: "You're late, Senpai. If you take any longer, I'll become an old woman."
True End: Spring Comes
- After all other threats are gone, Kirei Kotomine appears, having survived to witness the birth of the Grail. Shirou, with his last ounce of strength, engages him in a final, brutal fistfight. Shirou is on the verge of death but is saved when Kirei's borrowed time finally runs out, and he dies just before landing the final blow.
- Shirou prepares to project one last time to destroy the Grail, but Illya appears. She chooses to fulfill her true purpose, closing the gate and sacrificing herself to save Shirou's soul.
- "It's okay. I'm the older sister, so I have to protect my little brother."
- Illya's sacrifice allows Shirou's soul to be recovered. Rider retrieves the disembodied soul, and Rin uses the Matou family fortune to acquire a near-perfect puppet body from a famous doll-maker, successfully resurrecting Shirou.
- In the epilogue, everyone returns to a new, peaceful daily life. Rider remains in the world as Sakura's Servant and mentor. Rin goes to the Clock Tower to deal with the aftermath and, thanks to the intervention of a certain "Great Teacher" (Lord El-Melloi II), avoids punishment for closing the Grail.
- The story ends with Shirou, Sakura, Rin, and Rider finally fulfilling their long-awaited promise: enjoying a cherry blossom viewing together in the warm spring.

Simulation Settings: Fate/hollow ataraxia
This document summarizes the core concepts and rules governing the unique world of Fate/hollow ataraxia.
1. The World's Premise
- Nature of the World: This scenario is not a direct sequel to any single Fate/stay night route. Instead, it's a special "omake" or "fan-service" world that incorporates possibilities from all routes. It's a bridge between the end of the 5th Holy Grail War and the "true" epilogues that follow.
- Common Foundation: The world is built on a shared history where Shirou Emiya was the victor of the 5th HGW, facing Kirei Kotomine and Gilgamesh in the final battle. Saber, under Rin's command, destroyed the Grail, damaging the Greater Grail system itself.
- Kirei's Absence: Kirei Kotomine is definitively dead and is the only major participant from the 5th HGW who does not appear. His role as supervisor of the Fuyuki Church has been taken over by Caren Hortensia.
- Servant Status: Most surviving Servants have maintained their contracts with their Masters. Archer, however, exists in a special conditional relationship with Rin; she acts as his anchor to the world but does not supply him with mana. This is to prevent a major paradox within the loop.
2. The Duality of Day and Night
2.1 The World of Day
- The Protagonist: The "Shirou Emiya" of the daytime is actually Avenger, who is wearing Shirou's persona like a mask. He is copying Shirou's personality and living out his daily life.
- The Atmosphere: The daytime is a peaceful, idyllic world where the tragedies of the war seem to be a distant memory, and all the characters enjoy a slice-of-life existence.
2.2 The World of Night
- The Scenario: At night, Fuyuki transforms into a mock Holy Grail War. This war is a recreation of the Third Holy Grail War, but the participants are characters from the Fifth Holy Grail War.
- The Protagonist: The "real" Avenger sheds his Shirou persona at night and partners with Bazett Fraga McRemitz, the original Master of Lancer who was betrayed by Kirei. Bazett, who believes she can only be revived at night, experiences almost exclusively this world.
- The Remnants (잔해): Mysterious creatures that appear at night. Their primary goal is to eliminate Avenger or those who try to solve the world's mystery. People unrelated to the Holy Grail War are unharmed by them.
- Missing Classes: The Berserker class is explicitly stated to be absent in this nightly war. It is believed that the irregular Avenger class has taken its place. Lancer is also absent from the roster of nightly combatants.
3. The Repeating Four Days
- The Loop: The world endlessly repeats a four-day cycle. This is not a "reset" where everything is erased, but a "restart." The memories and experiences of one loop can subconsciously influence the next.
- The Origin: The four-day limit comes from Avenger's own memory; he was summoned and killed within the first four days of the Third Holy Grail War. This is all he can remember, so this is all he can replicate.
- Memory Retention: Only Avenger, Bazett, and Caren fully retain their memories of the events that occur on the final night before the loop restarts. Other characters may experience strong déjà vu or an inexplicable sense of weariness (as Archer describes it), but they do not consciously remember the repetition.
- Breaking the Cycle: The loop is not static. By taking specific actions at night—defeating enemies, meeting certain characters—new possibilities and events can be unlocked in subsequent daytime loops. This is how new scenarios and story branches become available.
- Consequences: All events within this four-day loop are part of a self-contained, false world. They have no direct impact on the "real" world that exists beyond the loop.
4. Special Locations
- Einzbern Castle & Fuyuki Church: These two locations exist outside the normal rules of the looping world. Visiting them can reveal crucial information about the nature of the mystery. When the "Day-Shirou" (Avenger) visits these places, his true, harsher personality bleeds through, which Caren points out. However, memories of what was learned there are forgotten upon leaving.
- The Twin Mansions: A key and deliberately confusing location tied to Bazett. She was betrayed by Kirei in the "elder sister's" mansion. In the loop, she revives in the elder's mansion but is immediately transported to the "younger sister's" mansion, a trick by Avenger to obscure the truth. The "Day-Shirou's" knowledge of the second mansion is a major clue that he is not the real Shirou, who would have no reason to know of its existence.

Prologue Summary: Fate/hollow ataraxia
The story begins half a year after the conclusion of the Fifth Holy Grail War, opening with scenes that blend mundane daily life, such as a training camp at Ryuudou Temple, with an eerie, horror-novel-like ghost story about a local apartment building.
The protagonist, Shirou Emiya, senses a subtle wrongness with the world. He feels that the Holy Grail War, which should be long over, is somehow continuing for an unknown reason. While he and the other former participants are aware of the Servants still being present, they feel no urgency or reason to fight, accepting the strangely peaceful days.
However, Shirou alone is plagued by a deep sense of dissonance and a budding identity crisis. He questions if the "him of yesterday" is the same person as the "him of today" and finds himself possessing knowledge of people and places he has never encountered before.
The in-universe reason given for this paradoxical state is an event occurring far away in London. Rin Tohsaka, while studying at the Clock Tower, attempted an experiment related to the Second Magic. The experiment failed on a "magnificently catastrophic" scale, and the fallout has transformed Fuyuki into a unique space where all possibilities can occur simultaneously. Rin is currently dealing with the consequences, leaving Shirou unable to seek her help.
The prologue establishes the central mystery and gameplay loop: Shirou must navigate these repeating four days of peaceful yet strange "war," collecting clues from various events to piece together the truth behind his world and his own existence.

Part 1 Summary
This section covers the initial experiences of the two protagonists, Bazett and "Shirou," as they navigate the looping world.
Bazett and the Night of War
- Awakening: Bazett Fraga McRemitz awakens from a great nightmare filled with despair, her body stiff and her memories fragmented. A shadowy man (Avenger) greets her as "Master." Looking in a mirror, she remembers her identity and her purpose: to fight in the Fifth Holy Grail War as an Enforcer from the Mage's Association.
- A Strained Alliance: Despite this, she feels a profound sense of wrongness and a strong distrust for her strange Servant. Their personalities clash, leading to a tense and nearly violent relationship. Avenger informs her that this Holy Grail War will only last for four days. He points out the empty, ghost-town-like nature of Fuyuki at night and leads her out on patrol.
- First Loop and Death: On their first patrol, they encounter Saber, who instantly kills Avenger and then fatally stabs Bazett.
- The Rules of the Loop: Bazett revives, and she and Avenger begin to piece together the rules of their existence. While her Servant is pathetically weak in direct combat, his Noble Phantasm allows Bazett to revive after death, but only at night. This gives her the powerful advantage of being unable to truly lose. She also learns his class is the irregular "Avenger," but she feels a disconnect, remembering that she had intended to summon a different, more heroic figure she deeply admired from childhood.
"Shirou" and the Dead Bridge
- The Obstacle: During the day, "Shirou" discovers he has forgotten his knowledge of Projection magecraft. This makes him unable to cross the Fuyuki Grand Bridge, as Archer guards the Shinto area and effortlessly "kills" him and Saber every time they attempt to cross. Archer cryptically warns him to stay away.
- The Path to Recovery: Frustrated by a nagging sense of déjà vu, "Shirou" tries to remember his abilities by visiting the shed, but fails. A conversation with Kid Gilgamesh at the church finally jogs his memory about what he has forgotten.
- Confrontation: That night, after regaining his Projection ability in the shed, he and Saber confront Archer at the bridge. Using a Command Spell to empower Saber's speed, he has her charge Archer. At the same time, "Shirou" successfully projects Rho Aias to block Archer's ultimate attack, Hrunting. Caught off-guard, Archer is defeated. As he fades, he tells Saber, "Keep getting tricked by me."
- Unlocking the Next Stage: This victory resolves the "Dead Bridge" event, finally allowing "Shirou" to patrol the Shinto area at night.

Part 2 Summary
This section details the critical turning point where Bazett discovers the true nature of the loop, and "Shirou" receives his most significant clue.
Bazett's Revelation and a Shift in Purpose
- The Loop Continues: Bazett continues her cycle of dying and reviving, endlessly searching for the optimal path to victory. Just prior to this part, she was killed by True Assassin's Zabaniya. Despite her repeated efforts, she has never managed to progress beyond the night of the fourth day.
- Understanding Her Servant: Through their patrols, Avenger begins to understand Bazett's true nature. Outwardly, she is the perfect, emotionless Enforcer, but inwardly, she is an insecure and fragile person, desperately seeking validation and driven by a secret, girlish admiration for the heroic legend she had hoped to summon (Cú Chulainn).
- The Fourth Night's Climax: On the fourth night, Bazett and Avenger finally confront "Shirou" and Saber at the church. Avenger manages to bind Excalibur with his own Noble Phantasms, but Saber shatters them with a simple burst of magical energy. Just as Saber defeats Avenger, she is caught by his true Noble Phantasm, Verg Avesta, which reflects the damage back onto her.
- Fragarach vs. Excalibur: As a desperate Saber unleashes Excalibur, Bazett activates her ultimate counter, the Noble Phantasm Fragarach. The "Answerer" reverses causality, striking Saber before she can complete her attack, and she is instantly annihilated. As a stunned "Shirou" looks on, Avenger cryptically tells him, "Next time, bring a different partner," before he also perishes.
- The Truth of the Loop: Bazett awakens on the first night, but this time she is furious. Despite achieving a perfect victory, the world still reset. She confronts Avenger, who gives her a simple answer: the world doesn't restart because she dies; it restarts because four days have passed.
- A New Mission: Realizing the entire premise is flawed, Bazett's goal shifts. She decides to uncover the cause of this looping world. She travels to the Einzbern castle, but finds she cannot defeat the multi-lived Berserker. While Avenger distracts him, Bazett slips inside and confronts Illya.
- A Puzzling Conversation: Illya reveals details of the 3rd Holy Grail War, confirming that Avenger (Angra Mainyu) was the Einzbern Servant who was defeated on the fourth day. This contradicts Bazett's situation and only deepens the mystery. Illya poses a fundamental question: "What is your real goal? Do you want to stop the war, or something else?" Bazett realizes she has been asking the wrong question—not why it ends, but why it began. She resolves to investigate the town during the daytime.
The "Hollow" World and Rin's Return
- A Major Clue: Rin Tohsaka returns from London and provides "Shirou" with crucial information. This world is not a resumption of the Holy Grail War, but a re-enactment. Someone is using the cast of the 5th War to replicate their own past experience. She gives him only these hints, insisting he solve the rest himself.
- New Events Unlocked: With Rin's return, new story branches become available. The Ryuudou Temple training camp event from the prologue is now fully accessible. After completing it, which culminates in a fight against the Remnants alongside Caren, the game's second opening movie plays, signifying a major progression in the plot. From this point on, new events involving Caren can be triggered at the church.

Part 3 Summary
This final part reveals the intertwined pasts of Bazett and Avenger, leading to the full revelation of the looping world's true nature and its emotional climax.
Interludes: The Pasts of the Protagonists
- Bazett's Past with Kirei: Flashbacks reveal Bazett's history as an Enforcer. During a mission, she clashed with the Church Executor Kirei Kotomine. They reached a truce and occasionally worked together. In a moment of vulnerability, she confessed her inner emptiness and lack of purpose to him. Kirei advised her to experience a wider world, giving her a small goal to live for.
- Angra Mainyu's Origin: Avenger's past is also shown. He was once an ordinary young man in an ancient village who was randomly chosen as the scapegoat for "All the World's Evil." He was tortured, cursed, and reviled by all. Over countless years of suffering, his hatred for the world that created him turned into a hollow void as he even outlived the civilization that cursed him. This experience left him with a paradoxical mix of deep cynicism and a strange, detached fondness for humanity.
The Truth Revealed
- The Daytime Confrontation: Bazett finally decides to investigate during the day and goes to the Emiya residence. The conversation is strange and disjointed, as their timelines do not match. Rin, now aware of the situation, delivers a series of devastating truths: the 5th Holy Grail War is over, and Kirei Kotomine is dead. The final blow comes when Rin asks, "Where is your left arm?" This triggers Bazett's buried trauma, and she flees in shock.
- The Identity of "Shirou": That night, a distraught Bazett confronts Avenger. He finally reveals his true form, confirming the ultimate truth: the "Shirou" of this world is a fake. Avenger has been wearing Shirou's persona during the day (as he needed a vessel to exist in the peaceful world) and acting as Bazett's Servant at night. They exist in the same space but can never perceive each other directly, explaining why they've always missed one another.
- The Origin of the World: Feeling betrayed, Bazett runs to the church, which now appears ruined and desolate. Caren prompts her to "awaken," and Bazett's full memory returns. At the start of the 5th HGW, she summoned Lancer but was immediately betrayed by Kirei, who severed her left arm and stole her Command Spells. The entire world of Fate/hollow ataraxia is a fabrication born from her unconscious dying wish—"I don't want to die"—which was "granted" by the Grail via Avenger. The world is built on Avenger's only memory: the four days of the 3rd HGW he experienced before dying. The 5th War cast are merely "actors" filling the roles, and the story of Rin's "Second Magic accident" was a fiction to explain the inconsistencies.
The Final Choices
- Bazett's Desperate Stand: Realizing that ending the loop means accepting her own death, Bazett makes a tragic choice. She rejects the truth and resolves to continue the "war" indefinitely, concluding that as long as the war goes on, she cannot die. She duels Lancer, and in the moment they simultaneously kill each other (Gáe Bolg vs. Fragarach), she finally realizes he was the Servant she was always meant to have.
- Avenger's Final Act: After witnessing Bazett's descent into her desperate logic, Avenger accepts his role must end. On the final night, he faces the swarm of "Remnants" (manifestations of himself meant to kill him and reset the loop) and leaves a final message for his other self, "Shirou": "Reach the Grail in the sky."
- The Promise: As "Shirou," Avenger goes to the Einzbern castle one last time. Illya explains the full truth of his existence—he is a copy, an imitation. Yet, she validates his journey, telling him that his desire to end this wish, to break the loop, is his own genuine will. She promises that even if he forgets everything, she will remember his choice, giving his existence meaning. In a touching moment, she embraces the crying Avenger as he finds his own salvation.

The Finale
With the full truth of the four-day world revealed, Avenger resolves to end it all and heads for the tallest building to reach the "Grail in the Sky."
The Ascent and the Final Battle
- Unexpectedly, Caren is waiting to see him off. They hold hands and walk up a transparent stairway toward the heavens, sharing a final moment of understanding between "All the World's Evil" and the one who accepts all sin.
- On the ground below, a massive battle rages. All the Masters and Servants—Rin and Archer at the bridge, Kuzuki and his Caster and Assassin at Ryuudou Temple, Sakura and Rider at the Emiya residence, Illya riding Berserker, a fully-powered Gilgamesh, and Saber with Excalibur—fight together as one, holding back the endless tide of "Remnants" trying to stop Avenger. Lancer alone watches from a skyscraper, observing Avenger's final ascent.
The Last Confrontation
- Upon reaching the Grail, Avenger finds Bazett waiting for him, her eyes full of hate. She refuses to let this world—the only place where she can exist without consequence—end. She argues that its destruction means Avenger will return to the nothingness he came from.
- However, Avenger, tired of the endless loop, persuades her with a surprisingly uncharacteristic sentiment: that things must return to their proper, correct state. Finally convinced, Bazett reluctantly agrees to let the loop end.
The World Shatters
- As the contract holder gives up her wish, the world of the four-day war shatters like stained glass. Just before they part, with Caren's help, Avenger reveals one last, crucial truth: the real-world Bazett is still alive. Her comatose body is what allowed him to form a contract and for this world to be sustained.
- With everything revealed, they turn their backs to each other and run toward their separate destinies. Grateful for the happy, albeit fake, memories, Avenger returns to his original state of "Nothingness," while Bazett returns to the real world, finally awakening to the morning of the fifth day.
- In the mansion, she sees the puzzle Avenger was always working on, now finally complete with the one missing piece in place, and she weeps. Then, hearing a couple approach the "haunted mansion," she moves toward the door with an excited heart, ready to greet them as the story comes to a close.

##Simulation Settings: Fate/strange Fake
This document outlines the background, mechanics, and key figures of the counterfeit Holy Grail War staged in Snowfield, USA, approximately three years after the events of the Fifth Holy Grail War.
The False Holy Grail War: An Overview
- Origin: The war is a deliberate imitation of the Fuyuki system, engineered by a faction of American magi led by Faldeus Dioland, in collaboration with the US government. The project's genesis lies in memories from the 3rd Fuyuki War, recorded in a doll and discovered by Faldeus's grandfather.
- The Plan: Unable to replicate the genius of the Three Founding Families, the American organization planned a long-term, multi-century project to slowly create a perfect copy. However, this plan was drastically accelerated by the intervention of the ancient magus, Francesca Prelati.
- Francesca's Intervention: Intrigued after witnessing her old friend (Gilles de Rais) in the 4th HGW, Francesca proposed a shortcut: "cultivating" a new Grail using remnants of the mud from the 4th War and a magical crystal from the Greater Grail stolen just before the 5th War. This resulted in a flawed but functional system.
- The True Goal: For the American organization, the war is a testing ground. Their ultimate ambition is to "conquer" the Third Magic (Heaven's Feel), deconstructing the miracle into a reproducible form of magecraft. For Francesca, the goal appears to be chaos for its own sake.
System and Mechanics
- A Two-Stage Summoning: The system is a mess. The connection to the leylines is too weak to support a full war. To solve this, Francesca designed a two-part ritual:
- The False Holy Grail War: First, six "False" Servants are summoned. They are not true participants but act as catalysts, their presence forcibly concentrating the region's magical energy. These Servants are programmed to fade away into the land's mana after seven days.
- The True Holy Grail War: The energy gathered by the False Servants triggers the real system, summoning a roster of "True" Servants to fight a proper war.
- Irregularities Abound: Due to its imperfect and rushed nature, the Snowfield Grail is highly unstable. It summons Servants that should not be possible (like Pale Rider, the very concept of "Death") and creates a chaotic free-for-all with no clear rules or official supervisor.
A Unique World Line
- A Special Domain: The world of strange Fake exists in a unique parallel timeline. Unlike standard Fate worlds (where the 27 Dead Apostle Ancestors don't exist) or Tsukihime worlds (where Heroic Spirit summoning is impossible), this world line allows for both concepts to coexist. It is a "special domain" situated between the two, where both Servants and powerful Dead Apostles are active players.

Prelude to the False Holy Grail War
Background & Preparations
- The System's Core: The Greater Grail for the Snowfield war has been installed in a sacred cavern beneath the city. An Einzbern homunculus named Fillia was acquired by Francesca Prelati to function as the Lesser Grail, completing the basic framework. The city of Snowfield itself was constructed over the past 70 years with the express purpose of hosting this war, embedding it with advanced magical and technological surveillance systems.
- The Organizers: The on-site command structure consists of three key figures: Faldeus Dioland, the project's field commander; Francesca Prelati, who provided the crucial assistance in creating the Grail; and Orlando Reeve, the Chief of the Snowfield Police Department.
- Controlled Selection: The selection of Masters was heavily controlled by the organizers. Command Spells for two "False" Servants and all of the "True" Servants were pre-assigned to their chosen candidates, meaning the roster was almost entirely fixed.
- Immediate Chaos: Despite this, the war was plagued by irregularities from the very beginning, with unsanctioned Masters and unexpected summons disrupting their plans. A cascade of external interventions and unforeseen events quickly caused the organizers to lose control, forcing them to prepare a contingency plan: destroy the entire city and stage the event as a meteorite impact.
- Unprecedented Power Levels: Even for an irregular war, the quality of both Servants and Masters is exceptionally high. Most Servants are grand hero-class, and unlike previous wars, there are no "third-rate" Masters. The participants are all first-class magi in their own right, some possessing extraordinary methods for mana supply. With the backing of the US government, all combatants are fully equipped to fight at their absolute maximum potential.
Day 0: The War Explodes into Existence
- Evening - The First Clash: The moment they are summoned, False Archer (Gilgamesh) and False Lancer (Enkidu) engage in a battle that carves a massive crater into the Snowfield desert. This event immediately triggers the intervention of both the Holy Church and the Mage's Association. The US government scrambles to cover it up as a pipeline explosion. Ayaka Sajyou is brought to Snowfield by the homunculus Fillia.
- Night - A Chaotic Summoning: At the Snowfield Opera House, Saber is summoned. His intended Master, Cashura, is murdered by an assassin seconds before the ritual's completion. The summon succeeds anyway, linking Saber to Ayaka Sajyou's fake Command Spells. Saber then fights the assassin, partially destroying the opera house. When police arrive and arrest Ayaka, Saber uses her Noble Phantasm to save them from falling debris before proudly announcing her identity and financial responsibility for the damages in front of the press, foiling the police's planned cover-up. She is promptly arrested.
- Night - True Servants Emerge: The Masters of the "True" Holy Grail War begin summoning their Servants.
- Bazdilot Cordelion uses Grail mud and Command Spells to corrupt the newly summoned Heracles, stripping his divinity and turning him into the vengeful True Archer, Alcides.
- Haruri Borzak is attacked by her own Servant, True Berserker (Humbaba). They are saved by the intervention of the goddess Ishtar (possessing Fillia), who forces them into a contract.
- Sigma summons a Servant without a catalyst, resulting in the appearance of an irregular Watcher-class Servant.
- Night to Dawn - A City in Flames:
- At a casino, Gilgamesh uses his clairvoyance to win an enormous fortune before being confronted by Hanza Cervantes, the supervisor sent by the Church.
- Hanza then goes to the police station to confront Orlando Reeve. As they face off, the station is attacked by False Assassin (the Nameless Zealot), seeking to kill the captive Saber. In the ensuing chaos, Saber breaks Ayaka out of her cell.
- The Dead Apostle Jester Karture intervenes, and the Command Spells for False Assassin transfer to him. Jester's vampiric powers overwhelm the police, but he is then forced into a massive battle with the Executor Hanza. Their fight spills out into the city, destroying the police station, several cars, and a nearby hotel.
- At dawn, Hanza manages to defeat Jester (who survives by switching bodies). The Church takes over the massive cover-up operation.
- The Aftermath: Gilgamesh coolly watches the destruction from his car. Flat Escardos, who also witnessed the battle, snaps a photo of Gilgamesh and sends it to his teacher, Lord El-Melloi II. Recognizing the Archer from the 4th War, El-Melloi II sends a frantic message to Flat: "DO NOT, under any circumstances, approach him."

Day 1
The chaos of the first night gives way to a day of strange alliances, major battles, and clandestine maneuvers as the factions begin to make their moves.
-
An Unlikely Alliance:
- False Assassin, having decided to prioritize hunting the Dead Apostle (Jester Karture) over the war, witnesses a confrontation between Saber and False Lancer in the forest.
- Saber, seeking to protect her master Ayaka, proposes a truce with Lancer. After a brief clash to test each other's strength, they agree.
- False Assassin joins them, forming a temporary three-way alliance. While Saber and Assassin are united by their goal to eliminate the Dead Apostle, Lancer's intention is to clear the field of other powerful threats like True Archer and False Rider before his destined battle with Gilgamesh.
-
A Three-Way Battle in the Valley:
- False Archer (Gilgamesh), trying to lure opponents to his casino hotel penthouse, is ambushed by an unseen force, resulting in the hotel being half-destroyed.
- The fight moves out of the city and into a remote mountain valley. The battle escalates when True Rider joins the fray, turning it into a massive three-way conflict.
- The daytime battle is eventually interrupted by the intervention of True Caster, who forces the combatants to disengage and retreat for the time being.
-
The City Under a Curse:
- False Rider spreads a potent curse across the entirety of Snowfield. The curse acts as a massive Bounded Field that does not prevent entry but makes it impossible for anyone inside to leave.
-
Investigations and Undercurrents:
- Flat & El-Melloi II: Flat Escardos, in consultation with Lord El-Melloi II, detects the city-wide curse. He dispatches his Berserker to the hospital, the curse's focal point, and successfully identifies its Master: a young girl named Tsubaki Kuruoka. The Dead Apostle Jester also deduces her identity.
- The Organizers & Police: False Caster (Dumas) provides a prosthetic arm to the policeman who was injured by Jester. Simultaneously, Orlando Reeve hires the necromancer Shishigou Kairi to create a Hydra-poisoned dagger for his forces.
- Faldeus's Move: Faldeus Dioland orders his True Assassin to assassinate Galvarosso Scladio, the head of the powerful Scladio crime family.
- El-Melloi's Frustration: Lord El-Melloi II's attempt to travel to Snowfield is thwarted by the Clock Tower's Department of Law. He is placed under surveillance and, after a call, realizes the "Ayaka Sajyou" in Snowfield is not the person he knows, deepening the mystery.

Day 2
The second day sees the conflict escalate dramatically as multiple factions converge on a single location, drawn by a city-wide crisis.
-
City-Wide Crisis and a New Alliance:
- Ishtar, with Haruri and True Berserker, attacks a Scladio Family workshop, devastating the industrial district. The fight is halted by True Caster's Noble Phantasm.
- Using the chaos as cover, Jester Karture uses his Master, Tsubaki Kuruoka, to infect all 140,000 citizens in the industrial area with a plague-like curse.
- Meanwhile, Saber and False Assassin encounter Sigma at Jester's former workshop. After a brief misunderstanding, they form an alliance when they realize Sigma was trying to protect Ayaka. The group is then surrounded by Faldeus Dioland's special forces.
- Sigma, still unsure of Watcher's true nature, lies to Faldeus, reporting he summoned "Lancer Charlie Chaplin." Distrusting both Faldeus and Francesca, he shares some of the information gained from Watcher with his new allies.
-
Investigations and Converging Paths:
- Faldeus receives a report that True Assassin has left Snowfield and is carrying out a series of assassinations against key figures.
- Flat Escardos infiltrates the police station and consults with Orlando Reeve. Together, they deduce that Tsubaki is False Rider's master, she is the source of the plague, and that she herself is a victim "captured" by her own Servant.
- Flat and Orlando form a temporary alliance and request Hanza Cervantes's protection for Tsubaki if they can retrieve her from the hospital. Orlando dispatches his "Clan Calatin" police force to the hospital.
-
The Battle Royale at the Hospital:
- A Scladio spy within the police force alerts his family, prompting True Archer (Alcides) to also head to the hospital. Jester Karture is already on-site, observing the unfolding events.
- A massive, multi-factional battle erupts. True Archer clashes with Clan Calatin. False Berserker (Jack) arrives and fights True Archer, but is defeated and forced to retreat.
- False Archer (Gilgamesh) then appears, drawn by the commotion.
- The situation escalates further as Saber, False Assassin, and Sigma's group also arrive at the hospital, turning the area into an all-out warzone between numerous Servants and Masters. To add to the chaos, False Caster activates his Noble Phantasm nearby.

-
Divine Intervention and Monstrous Clash:
- From her airship above the city, Ishtar summons the Divine Bull of Heaven, Gugalanna.
- At the same time, the monstrous True Berserker, Huwawa, also makes its appearance, turning the city into a battleground for mythological beasts.
-
The Defeat of a King:
- The two great archers, False Archer (Gilgamesh) and True Archer (Alcides), finally engage in a fierce battle.
- However, Ishtar's intervention disrupts their fight, leading to a shocking outcome: False Archer is defeated. His survival is left unknown.
