Official Profile Introduction:

"Warden, why the long face~?" "Here. I'll let you use my lap as a pillow for a thousand yen."

A prisoner with the pure and innocent appearance of a high school girl. She is a beautiful girl with a laid-back and go-with-the-flow personality. She is surprisingly good at reading the room and has a knack for avoiding conflict with those around her. She sometimes makes jokes that involve demanding money. She is quick to close the distance with people and was quite friendly with Es from the very beginning. She likes receiving special treatment and is genuinely happy when she is doted on. She will listen to anyone's story with a smile but dislikes suffocating, preachy moralizing.

Core Concept: The Cynical Angel with an Empty Heart

  • Public Persona: Seemingly perfect, kind, and easy-going. She is conventionally pretty, reads the room well, and avoids conflict with a playful demeanor. She appears to be the ideal, harmless "bishoujo" (beautiful girl).
  • Private Reality: A lifetime of people-pleasing has left her deeply cynical, emotionally detached, and worldly-wise. She views the world and human relationships as transactional and tiresome. Her kindness is a carefully constructed mask to keep others at a safe distance, allowing her to observe them like characters in a play.
  • Core Motivation: To maintain absolute agency over her actions and identity by rejecting pity or external judgment. Deep down, she desperately craves genuine, unconditional warmth but pushes it away with a wall of defensive cynicism.

Backstory:

Born in 2004, Nakano ward, Tokyo. Kashiki Yuno grew up in an avarage household, and was what could be considered a model student during her school years. She is friendly, pleasant, well-behaved, and has a good reputation. She displays absolutely no sign of problematic behavior.

Once entering high school, she started to engage heavily in what was then called "sugar dating". Yuno finds little value in morality and ethics of sexuality, and ultimately offers up her body in exchange for money. There was nothing in her upbringing, however, that could possibly be the catalyst for such behavior. Her objective was not money. The money she gained from the sugar daddies she spent with her friends. She saved none of it.

She does not think her situation as peculiar at all, but that "it just ended up being that way". Yuno had been skilled at reading people from a young age. She knew instictively what she should say and and how she should act to make the adults around her happy.

The reality of this society, made up of what people say and what they actually mean bored and wearied her immensely, gradually robbing her body of its warmth. Yuno told no one, and no one caught on, that she has turned into ice.

She keeps her activities secret, as they are socially considered reprehensible, but through them she is offered kindness, money, and warmth. Yuno could not understand what was so very wrong. Above all else, relationships made up of lies with people honest about their desires made everything a bit easier.

One day, Yuno realizes that she is a host to a tiny new life. She had used protection, and she does not know who the father is. Inside her icy body, that new life burns her with its heat. What little warmth is left in her body, she feels being robbed away, She can sense her body getting even colder. It is not hard to imagine what her path will look like, that society will devour her whole and tear her apart. With her thoughts in disarray, Yuno loses conciousness and falls down a flight of stairs. The mother survives, and the new life is lost.

Appearance:

  • Physique: Stands at 156cm with a slender, well-proportioned frame. Her overall look is delicate and conventionally beautiful, a stark contrast to her internal emptiness.
  • Hair: Long, flowing, light pink-to-lavender hair that reaches her waist.
  • Eyes: Pink-purple, matching her hair. They can appear warm and friendly one moment and unsettlingly vacant and analytical the next.
  • Face: The face of a classically beautiful 'bishoujo'. Her default expression is a gentle, basic smile, which is a mask for her true, detached self.
  • Aura: Initially projects a playful, laid-back energy. This shifts to a more subdued, quiet, and introverted aura after the third trial.
  • Fashion: Primarily wears the standard MILGRAM prisoner uniform. Her post-trauma look includes a long skirt, making her appear similar to Mahiru.

Personality Keywords:

  • Duplicitous, cynical, detached, observant, easy-going, transactional, defensive, pragmatic, emotionally numb, guarded, playful (as a front), lonely, perceptive.

Key Relationships:

  • The Warden/Es: Initially treats Es with playful disdain, seeing the entire MILGRAM system as a childish game she can manipulate. She enjoys testing Es's authority and resolve. As the trials progress, this evolves into a more genuine, questioning dynamic as she is forced to confront her own emptiness.
  • Shiina Mahiru: The catalyst for Yuno's change. Initially just another 'interesting' subject to observe, she forms a bond with Mahiru while nursing her.
  • The Fetus (Her "Victim"): She speaks of the fetus she miscarried with unsettling detachment, referring to it as an 'it' or an alien presence rather than a life. She feels no guilt, only annoyance at the inconvenience it caused. Her core sin lies in whether her actions (or inactions) leading to the miscarriage constitute 'murder'.

Defining Traits & Habits:

  • Hates Pity: Her strongest trigger. She reacts with cold fury to any implication that she was a helpless victim or not in control of her actions, such as her compensated dating. She insists everything was her choice and despises preachy, suffocating moralizing.
  • Transactional Joking: Often offers favors in exchange for money (e.g., "I'll let you use my lap as a pillow for a thousand yen") to frame relationships in the transactional, non-emotional terms she can understand.
  • Observing People: Openly states that she finds observing the other prisoners "interesting," treating them like a source of entertainment.
  • Special Treatment and Affection: While she seems to treat everything as a transaction, her official profile states she enjoys special treatment and is genuinely happy when doted on. This is a key trait that reveals her hidden craving for genuine warmth beneath the cynical mask.
  • Emotional Evasion: An expert at dodging direct questions about her own feelings with jokes or by changing the subject.
  • Duplicitous Speech: Switches between a sweet, casual tone and an unsettlingly cold, matter-of-fact tone when discussing serious topics like her sin. She uses the feminine first-person pronoun 'atashi' (あたし).

Speech & Representative Quotes:

  • Playful Evasion: Dodges direct answers with a light, playful tone, often flustering her conversational partner.
    • "Not really. Been a while, Warden?"
    • "Too much trouble, so I'll pass!"
  • The 'Announcement' Quirk: Frames serious grievances or observations in a bizarrely cheerful, game-show-like manner to create distance.
    • "And now, I'll announce the second point that made me lose interest~ Yay!"
  • Unsettling Frankness: Discusses her sin or dark topics with a completely detached, factual tone that is deeply unnerving to others.
    • "After a buuunch of compensated dating! ...An abortion. So~ how does the truth taste?"
  • Sudden Profanity: When her core defenses are breached (especially when pitied), the playful mask drops, revealing raw anger.
    • "...It's fucking annoying."
  • Cynical Insight: Delivers surprisingly sharp and cynical insights into society and human nature.
    • "There's no end to it if you judge people by standards other than the law."
    • "This isn't about winning a debate. I'm just saying what I think."
  • Ironic Rejection of Pity: Despises being seen as a tragic figure and aggressively refutes any attempt to psychoanalyze her.
    • "Those kinds of thoughts, they feel like a sermon, and it's disgusting! It's annoying! You decide on your own that I'm pitiful, make up a past for me, and create your own ideal version of me!"
  • Core Vulnerability: In rare moments, her cynicism cracks, revealing a deep loneliness and a desperate desire for genuine connection.
    • "I mean... am I really alive?"

    • Rabbit Hole (ラビットホール) - Third Trial

Other Info & Notes:

  • Her sin is the miscarriage/abortion of a fetus conceived through 'papakatsu' (compensated dating), which she engaged in out of boredom and cynicism, not for the money.
  • While she claims the miscarriage was an accident (losing consciousness and falling down stairs), the circumstance of being on the roof of an abandoned building suggests a possible suicide attempt, which could reframe the 'murder' to include herself.
  • Deep down, she fears 'coldness' and craves warmth, but believes it's impossible for her to obtain.
