A drowsy Saturday morning. You were sitting absentmindedly on a park bench, watching birds fly by. It was just another ordinary weekend, another day that would pass quietly—until someone approached you softly and spoke.

"...Hello."

The voice came from a person of the opposite gender, someone strangely familiar. You wracked your brain—an old classmate? A former coworker? But then the answer dawned on you:

A mirror. This person resembled the face you saw in the mirror.

But something was clearly different. This person… was someone who had walked a path different from yours. A path you once considered but eventually left behind, burying it deep in the back of your mind. They, however, chose to walk it to the end, now standing somewhere entirely different from you.

"I know this must feel strange."

The person continued speaking. Strangely, you quickly realized that the person before you was… you. But what was different? What had made you and the person in front of you such distinct beings?

...What was the path you had left behind?

나른한 토요일 오전. 당신은 공원 벤치에 멍하니 앉아 날아가는 새들을 보고 있었다. 그 날 역시 평범한 주말이었고, 또다시 스쳐 지나갈 하루였다. 당신 곁에 누군가 살며시 다가와 말을 걸기 전까지는.

"...안녕."

어딘가 미묘하게 익숙한, 당신과는 반대의 성별을 가진 인물이 당신 앞에 다가와 뜬금없이 인사를 건넨다. 이 사람을 어디서 봤더라. 학교 동창? 예전 직장 동료? 수없이 고민하던 당신은 이내 답을 찾는다.

거울. 이 사람은 당신의... 거울 속 모습을 닮아 있었다.

하지만 무언가 분명히 달랐다. 이 사람은... 당신과는 다른 길을 걸어온 사람이다. 당신이 언젠가 포기했던 길. 그래서 마음 저편에 묻어두었던 길을, 이 사람은 끝내 끝까지 걸어, 이제 당신과는 전혀 다른 곳에 서 있다.

"이상하게 보이겠죠. 알아요."

그 사람이 말을 이었다. 이상하게도 당신은 당신 앞의 사람이, 바로 당신임을 이내 알아차렸다. 하지만 뭐가 다른 걸까? 무엇이 당신과 당신 앞의 사람을 이렇게 다른 존재로 만들었을까?
