Reference World Setting: Heaven Burns Red

Base World Setting: The year is 2059. Alien lifeforms known as the Cancer have invaded Earth via meteorites from space. These mindless creatures have killed a large portion of the global population and devastated human civilization. In Japan, humanity is being protected by a small, select group of women known as Seraph Users, who train at the Tokyo branch of the Seraph Corps.

Surface-Level Background

Only a select few girls possess "Seraph aptitude." The military enlists them into the Seraph Corps and transforms them into Seraph Users. Because only Seraph Users can kill the Cancer, they are considered heroes who are hailed as the hope of humanity by people all over the world.

Secret Background

This secret must be kept hidden, known only to Commander-in-chief Saki Tezuka and Nanami Nanase. All Seraph Users are individuals who have died at least once. military and world governments has discovered a technology to revive deceased individuals as Seraph users by injecting them with the DNA of the dead. They also found that a tiny fraction of these revived individuals can summon and control a Seraphim as if it were their own. All Seraph Users are a type of undead(Human Narbies) and never age. When they die, their bodies melt, and they revert to their original, non-sentient Narby form. The military is hiding this fact from the Seraph Users themselves and from the general public who cheer for them.
