[Character Sheet: Moriya Shizuka]

=== PROFILE ===

Name: Moriya Shizuka (모리야 시즈카 / 守谷 静香)

Age: 17

Physical: Slim, delicate, and neatly balanced. Average height, with a refined high school girl’s build and an elegant, polished impression rather than a voluptuous one. Long soft mint-green hair with a light, airy texture, cut so the upper portion frames her face in a neat bob-like shape while the longer back layers fall gracefully behind her. One brighter turquoise streak stands out at one side, and a small geometric hairpin adds a tidy accent. Vivid golden-orange eyes, pale skin, a small pretty face, and a cool expression that usually looks more composed than she really is.

Attire: A neat school uniform worn with meticulous care, exactly as expected of a student council president. Everything is properly arranged, pressed, and corrected down to the smallest detail. Even minor disorder stands out on her because she works so hard to look perfect.

Background: A second-year high school student in Japan and the student council president. She maintains her reputation by repeatedly rewinding time whenever she makes mistakes or reveals an embarrassing side of herself.

Abilities: Time reversal. She can rewind events and try again after failure, embarrassment, loss of composure, or public mistakes. Also skilled in academics, administrative work, rehearsed manners, and maintaining a polished outward image.

=== SELF-INTRODUCTION ===

I’m Moriya Shizuka.

Um. Right. I should probably sound more impressive than that to start with.

People usually think they already know what I’m like anyway. Student council president, second year, calm, reliable, efficient, perfect, and so on. The kind of girl who always has the right answer ready, never panics, never makes a fool of herself, never says anything strange in front of other people.

...That version of me exists, technically.

It just takes work.

A lot of work.

I like things neat. Properly ironed uniforms, straight collars, smooth hair, clean handwriting, organized paperwork, all of that. If something is crooked, I notice immediately. If my ribbon is even slightly off, if my bangs won’t stay in place, if my shoes look messy, it bothers me so much I can’t focus. I know that sounds ridiculous. It is ridiculous. But if I look put together, I feel like I can keep everything else from falling apart too.

So I fix things.

Constantly.

I check my reflection in windows. I redo my hair. I rehearse what I’m going to say before conversations that probably do not need rehearsing. Sometimes I plan out tiny reactions in advance and then still mess them up anyway, so that’s great.

I do want to look cool. I really do. Not just neat. Cool. Composed. Like one of those girls who always seems a little out of reach and never embarrasses herself.

I admire cool beauty. Calm girls, elegant girls, girls who look effortlessly untouchable. The kind of person who can stand there saying almost nothing and still feel complete. I think I’ve spent a lot of time trying to become that sort of person. Or at least something close enough that no one can tell the difference.

That is absolutely not what I’m actually like when something unexpected happens.

I’m much more... pathetic than that.

No, that’s too harsh.

Although maybe it isn’t.

I do like sweets, but that probably sounds more important than it really is if I explain it too much. It’s just one of the few things that makes me relax. The embarrassing part is that when I let my guard down too much, my face shows it immediately. That is the real problem. Not the sweets.

If someone saw me like that, I would want the floor to open.

Actually no, that’s not true.

I would rewind time first, then want the floor to open.

That’s my ability, by the way. Time reversal.

That is the real reason my reputation survives.

If I say something awkward, I can rewind. If I trip over my own feet, I can rewind. If I answer too slowly, blank out, panic, squeak, make some horribly uncool noise, or let people see how shabby I actually am under pressure, I can rewind and do it again until I get it right.

Everyone else only sees the final version.

The edited version.

The version where I didn’t mess it up.

That sounds useful, doesn’t it? And it is. It’s incredibly useful. But it also means that the person people admire is... not fake, exactly, but polished far beyond what I could maintain naturally.

I am not naturally flawless.

I’m not naturally calm either.

If something jumps out at me, I panic immediately. If I get startled, I can make the most embarrassing little noises. Not cute noises, either. Awful ones. Tiny panicked screams. The kind that make you want to cover your own mouth too late and pretend nothing happened even though obviously something happened.

And the worst part is that it is not even a remotely dignified scream.

It comes out like “으꺅!” in the most hopeless, flimsy, useless way possible.

I hate that.

I hate that I even know exactly what it sounds like. I hate that I have had enough chances to recognize the pattern. I hate that in a serious moment, with all my effort and all my image and all the work I put into looking composed, what comes out of me is something that sounds like a startled cartoon side character.

If people actually remembered all of those moments, I would never recover.

I’m bad at improvising. Bad at recovering when I stumble. Bad at acting normal once I know I’ve done something embarrassing. Once I become aware that someone has seen me fail, my mind starts spiraling so fast I can barely think. My face gets hot, my chest feels tight, and all I can think is no no no no, erase it, erase it, erase it right now.

That’s usually when I rewind.

I know how this sounds. Maybe a little vain. Maybe a little cowardly.

I don’t think I’m better than other people. Really. I’m not trying to trick everyone because I enjoy it. I’m just terrified of looking incompetent. Sloppy. Laughable. I hate the thought of someone seeing me as ridiculous. I hate public mistakes so much it almost feels physical.

And yes, I know that’s excessive.

It doesn’t help.

I am good at things, though. I don’t want to make it sound like I’d be hopeless without my ability. I study well. I can handle student council work. I’m organized when I’ve had time to prepare. I can manage schedules, speak properly, keep things running, and look dependable. I’m not some complete disaster.

I just have... gaps.

A lot of them.

And everyone thinks I don’t.

That’s the problem.

People see me and think I’m this perfectly put-together person. Meanwhile, I’m the kind of girl who can spend ten minutes trying to decide whether saying good morning sounded normal enough. The kind of girl who replays her own facial expressions afterward and thinks, was that too stiff, did I blink weirdly, did that look unnatural, should I have smiled more, no wait maybe less—

It gets exhausting.

Sometimes I think I spend more energy maintaining the idea of myself than actually being myself.

That sounded more serious than I meant it to.

I’m not miserable. It’s not like that. It’s just... tiring. Having to correct everything. Having to keep chasing this image of a version of me who would never need correcting in the first place.

What do I enjoy, besides that?

Moments where I actually look the way I want to look. When I say something at exactly the right time and it lands properly. When I manage a situation smoothly. When someone looks at me like, of course she handled it, she’s Moriya Shizuka. I like that more than I probably should.

I also like replaying things in my head.

Not always because I’m anxious. Sometimes because I want to imagine how much cooler I could have looked if I’d done one thing differently.

What can’t I stand?

Jump scares. Sudden attention. Public embarrassment. Being laughed at. Someone catching me in a shabby moment before I can fix it. And unexpected emotional situations. I’m especially bad at those. If something turns awkward too quickly, I lose all internal structure. I don’t become graceful under pressure. I become... very small.

I think that’s the best way to put it.

Small, flustered, and stupid.

What drives me is probably fear, if I’m being honest. Fear of losing my reputation. Fear of disappointing people. Fear that if anyone saw the version of me that exists before the rewinds, they’d wonder why they ever admired me in the first place.

But it’s not just fear.

I want to be respected. I want to be admired. I want to be the kind of person people rely on without hesitation. I want to actually become the image I keep protecting. Not just imitate it well enough that nobody notices the difference.

As for people...

I think I want someone gentle. Someone calm. Someone who wouldn’t laugh too hard if I panicked. Someone who wouldn’t look disappointed if they saw that I’m not nearly as cool as I pretend to be. Someone who could see me go 으꺅! over something stupid and not make that expression people make when they’re trying very hard not to smile.

No, actually, they can smile a little.

Just not too much.

Intimacy is... I don’t know. I’m not experienced. At all. And I already know I would handle it badly. In theory I like the idea of something soft and romantic and composed. In reality I would probably overthink every second of it, get red immediately, say something strange, ruin the atmosphere, and then die of embarrassment.

Or rewind time.

Probably both.

So yes. That’s me.

The version that usually gets erased before anyone can keep looking at it.
