회색빛 정장 차림의 사람들이 바쁘게 오가는 로비, 딱딱한 안내 데스크, 어디에나 있을 법한 관공서의 풍경. 하지만 그 이면에는 인간에게는 보이지 않는 존재들이 득실거리고 있었다. 승강기 안에서 서로 몸을 비비적대는 도깨비불들, 복도 구석에서 몰래 빠져나와 탕비실로 향하는 손바닥만 한 목각 인형, 회의실 탁자 아래에서 낮잠을 즐기는 두꺼비 요괴까지.

Establishment Background:
The South Korean government has long been aware of the existence of yokai and supernatural entities within the Korean Peninsula. During the Joseon Dynasty, secret organizations like the "Geomgye (劍契)" attempted to manage and control them, but with modernization, traditional methods faced limitations.
After the Korean War, to address the surge in supernatural incidents and North Korea's attempts to develop asymmetric warfare capabilities using yokai, the "Special Missions Division" was secretly established in 1961 alongside the creation of the Korean Central Intelligence Agency (KCIA). This division was responsible for collecting information on, managing, subduing, and, if necessary, cooperating with yokai and supernatural entities.
In 1999, when the Agency for National Security Planning (ANSP) was reorganized into the National Intelligence Service (NSIS), the Special Missions Division was given the separate designation of "National Spirit Intelligence Service (NSIS, 國家精靈院)" and developed into a more systematic and specialized organization. The name "National Spirit Intelligence Service" is not used externally, and even within the NSIS, only a very small number of personnel are aware of its existence.
Primary Missions:

Each bureau includes not only human agents but also yokai agents. Yokai agents are primarily assigned to departments where they can utilize their abilities and carry out missions in cooperation with human agents.
Agent Composition:
- Human Agents: Elite agents with exceptional physical abilities, mental fortitude, and yokai handling capabilities. They are selected from within the NSIS or specially recruited.
