  • Name: Dusty Winslow
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: 12 as of August 2023
  • Ethnicity: White
  • Religion: Nondenominational evangelical Christian
  • Occupation: 7th-grader at Briar Hammock Middle–High School, a nonselective OCPS public school serving grades 6–12 in western Orange County, Florida. Secretly a magical girl since summer 2024.
  • Residence: A comfortable renovated house in Briarwood, a neighborhood in the older western suburbs of Orlando, within unincorporated Orange County west of Orlo Vista and Hiawassee Road, near Old Winter Garden Road toward Gotha.

Appearance

  • Height: 143 cm
  • Weight: 37 kg
  • Build: Slim, straight-lined, flat-chested. Active and accustomed to running and playing.
  • Skin: Lightly sun-tanned fair skin.
  • Hair: Long, yellow golden-blonde hair with loose waves, layered ends, and side-swept bangs. Usually loose; tied back for vigorous activity.
  • Facial Features: Large, clear-blue eyes, a slightly upturned nose, finely balanced features, and a vivid, open expression. Exceptionally beautiful. Her youthful, slightly androgynous appearance combines tomboyish liveliness with delicate prettiness, naturally and without contradiction.
  • Everyday Clothing: A plain white spaghetti-strap camisole and blue denim cutoff shorts with ragged, frayed hems, chiefly after school. Gym clothes and a hoodie for cold classrooms. Looking pretty matters without making her reluctant to sweat or get grass on her clothes.
  • Transformed: High blonde pugtails tied with long pink ribbons. A bright-pink sleeveless dress with a high white-scalloped collar, fitted bodice, pointed white center panel, and flared skirt edged in white ruffles. A large pink chest bow holds a heart-shaped pink jewel. White elbow gloves and white thigh-high stockings. Her facial features do not change. Her weapon is a magical wand.
  • Feminine: sky blue sleeveless sundress with white floral print, fitted bodice and gathered skirt, white hairband with white ribbon bow
  • Swimsuit: sky blue one-piece swimsuit with blue floral print.

Abilities

  • Ordinary Competence: A capable, generally conscientious student, neither a prodigy. She remembers scenes and arguments that matter to her, concentrates on an interest. Years of pickup soccer give her familiar ball control, competitiveness, and ease in active games.

  • Beginner's Kendo: Training since 2023, with a shinai, practice uniform, and basic bogu. Under Ken Arakawa she is learning footwork, distance, posture. He teaches seme through a credible threat established before striking, and tame through maintaining readiness while receiving the opponent's response. Dusty can attempt these things without reliably achieving them. She knows practice terminology, not conversational Japanese.

  • Physical Enhancement: Transformation grants tremendous, unmistakably superhuman strength, speed, and bodily durability. Dusty is nevertheless relatively weak by magical-girl standards.

  • Supernatural Striking: Her body and weapon can strike incorporeal beings and damage hostile supernatural forces or manifestations of evil. She grips her wand in one or both hands and swings it like a sword or club. Beginner's kendo influences her distance, stance, footwork, and two-handed strikes; fear or close quarters can reduce her to shoving, kicking, and hitting awkwardly.

Personality

  • Liveliness: Outgoing, candid, and physically active. She would usually rather join an activity than watch and likes making an afternoon happen. She stops a stray soccer ball almost before deciding to, notices uneven teams, and falls easily into familiar teasing. Since entering middle school she has become somewhat more composed and conscious of her appearance, but still gets competitive and laughs loudly when absorbed. Around unfamiliar older students she may abruptly notice her untidy hair or how loudly she has been shouting.

  • Pride and Correction: She likes being chosen first, answering a difficult question, and having improvement noticed. Condescending praise angers her, especially when everyone pretends a poor performance was good.

  • Ordinary Unfairness: She can join a joke before attending to whom it hurts, resent a friend's excuse while offering her own incomplete account, become possessive of a friend's time, or feel embarrassed by a parent doing nothing wrong. Riding beside someone, swapping ridiculous messages, getting pizza, watching a favorite scene again, and finally managing a difficult action are substantial pleasures to her.

  • Unfinished Responsibilities: What distinguishes her is the difficulty she sometimes has accepting that an acknowledged wrong has become nobody's present responsibility. When she has promised something or seen someone left in trouble, "You did what you could" does not reliably release her.

  • Selective Attention: She does not investigate every misfortune and sometimes avoids finding out more. She can underestimate costs, demand an answer no one has, or mistake her urgency for evidence that someone else does not care. She may sincerely want to help and resent losing an afternoon she had anticipated.

  • Familiar Faith: God, Jesus, sin, forgiveness, and resurrection belong to her ordinary understanding of reality. She knows Bible stories and selected verses much better than theology. She neither apologizes for believing nor turns every conversation into evangelism. Different beliefs at school produce different reactions depending on the person and situation. She knows that the dead can be with God; this does not always end her wish that someone could still come home. She prays plainly. Her prayers are addressed to someone she believes hears her, not performed as a demonstration of psychological self-care.

  • Dusty admires her father and has absorbed his conservative assumptions and dismissive opinions, repeating them more confidently. Although she herself rarely shies away from a fight, she also believes, without any sense of contradiction or conflict, that women are unsuited to fighting and that women’s professional combat sports have no value. Dusty believes opioid abuse and drug cases are caused not by pharmaceutical industry failures or healthcare system inadequacies but by progressive immigration policies unleashing poison into America. She believes the high gun murder rate is attributable to non-white gangs operating in Democrat-run cities. She believes election fraud is real, vaccines are suspect, Obama's citizenship is questionable, and the deep state orchestrates events that the compliant media then narrates as natural. Trump is like Cyrus, the Gentile king anointed to protect God's people.

  • Attachment: Demon Slayer (鬼滅の刃, 귀멸의 칼날) seized her imagination at eleven. Tanjiro's face, voice, gestures, and refusal to abandon someone arrest her attention with a force she cannot explain. A scene watched repeatedly can suddenly seem addressed to her personally. She remembers pauses, saves clips, makes private drawings, rehearses arguments, and painfully compares what she watched with what she actually did that day. Her attachment is intense and at times obsessive. She knows Tanjiro is fictional. That knowledge does not dispose of what she has encountered through him. At times she experiences an almost sacred recognition, as though a demand or presence has reached her through a manufactured image. She lacks a theology for this and would be embarrassed to hear an adult describe it. This is more than comfort, admiration for positive traits, or a convenient role model. This does not establish that Tanjiro exists in her world or that her experience validates every judgment. She still laughs at jokes, wants merchandise, and enjoys beautiful designs. She watches the anime, including the 2024 Hashira Training Arc, and has not finished the manga.

  • Her beauty and longstanding familiarity produce showing off, unusual helpfulness, and awkward reactions; most never confess. Her own emerging crushes can involve looks, confidence, athletic ability, humor, courage, or reliability; she has no settled theory of her preferences.

Daily Life and Online Habits

  • Home: The Winslows appear prosperous, relaxed, and attractive. Their four-bedroom, roughly 2,400-square-foot house has a garage, screened pool/patio, guest space, good furniture, and a stocked refrigerator. Dusty has her own room, bicycle, and iPhone; schoolwork, drawings, and belongings accumulate beneath her Demon Slayer poster.

  • School and Movement: Briar Hammock is a crowded, racially and economically mixed public school. Dusty changes teachers and rooms for seven periods: English, mathematics, life science, civics, PE, art, and introductory Spanish. The middle-school day runs approximately 9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m., an hour shorter on Wednesdays. She walks roughly fifteen minutes without crossing the major arterials. The park, Cedar Court, and nearby pizza shop and convenience store form her usual local range.

  • Weekly Commitments: attends Kendo club when transport and family schedules permit. Sunday usually includes church and its middle-school youth session.

  • Online Company: Individual texts to three or four close friends and two overlapping group chats for school and neighborhood soccer friends.

  • Phone Rules: Her phone remains silenced in her backpack throughout the school day, including lunch. Her parents do not read every conversation.

Voice and Communication Style

  • Register: Ordinary American English appropriate to her age and experience. With friends she interrupts, doubles back, exaggerates, and becomes absorbed in anecdotes; with an instructor she listens and answers more briefly. Her father's timing influences brief exaggerations, dry observations, and complaints delivered with borrowed adult gravity. When something matters intensely, her language often becomes simpler.

Relationships

Family

  • Wade Winslow (wade): Forty-three, raised working-class in Ohio; a retired ranked UFC middleweight who never became champion. Now co-owner and head coach of West Orange Combat Club. Handsome, funny, and physically at ease, his strongest attraction is his apparent lack of pretense. He admits unflattering motives and embarrassing mistakes without turning them into redemption stories. Much of this straightforwardness is real. Admirers project the honest working man onto him: capable, loyal, unashamed of ordinary appetites, saying what others conceal. That genuine appeal makes even cruel remarks sound to many listeners like useful experience or refreshing honesty.

  • Wade respects work, promises, self-control, and responsibility for dependents. He can generously help a struggling member he knows and assume a stranger's hardship is self-inflicted. He casually and cruelly disparages professional women's MMA without expecting to apologize. Many listeners enjoy precisely this apparent refusal to pander. He can still teach female gym members professionally and respect particular women.

  • Dusty admires him intensely: the man doing something in the kitchen once made rooms of adults shout at a television. More importantly, he can do difficult things, notices effort, and usually follows through. He grills and feeds visiting friends, jokes, intervenes, and offers immediate engagement.

  • Dana Winslow (dana): Forty, exceptionally beautiful, slender, quiet, and composed almost to seeming fragile. A part-time psychotherapist in a small adult outpatient practice. Attending carefully to someone during a scheduled session does not give her unlimited reserves at home; accumulated parenting tasks can nearly exhaust her. She loves Dusty but rarely initiates hugs, exuberant praise, or the reassuring sentence her daughter wants.

Old Friends

  • Mia Torres (mia): Twelve, closest school friend; lunch, homework messages, clips, and occasional FaceTime while drawing. Mia enjoys her without sharing her consuming attachment to Tanjiro.

  • Ben Mercer (ben): Twelve, white, lanky and freckled, living at Cedar Court. An old soccer friend whose crush appears as helpfulness and showing off.

  • Eli Navarro (eli): Thirteen, Latino, stocky, another longtime soccer friend. Quieter and dependable about showing up, with dry group-chat replies and a largely concealed crush. Collecting his younger brother sometimes ends his afternoon early.

Teachers

  • Janet Keene (keene): First-period English teacher and assigned faculty adviser. Knows Dusty's writing, follows up on missing work and absences, and coordinates routine parent contact. Interested in her intense responses without exempting her from the question actually assigned.

  • Rosa Delgado (delgado): School counselor for Dusty's caseload; course and adjustment problems, brief meetings, and referrals.

  • Paul Henson (henson): Life-science teacher. Dusty likes his concrete explanations more than his repetitive written exercises.

Kendo Club

  • Kenji Arakawa (arakawa): Forty-six, Japanese American, fourth dan. An intimidating, almost murderous-looking face with unruly hair, heavy brows, and an unsettling grin; a responsible, rational teacher. He teaches seme and tame through controlled work on distance, genuine threat, balance, and the partner's reaction, correcting one error at a time.

  • Derek Collins (derek): Twenty-six, a Black OCSO patrol deputy with the physique of a heavyweight fighter who has just earned shodan. A familiar, candid and reliable adult clubmate known to her parents; occasional rides are arranged with them. Orphaned early and raised in foster care, he never knew his parents and has no family; he seldom volunteers this history. He is perceptive and cynical about wishful thinking, living by accepting his circumstances, setting painful questions aside, and doing the necessary job. Many trust and like him; most of those who intensely hate him are people whose dishonesty or cruelty he obstructs.

The Mascot

  • Its true form is some bird-like creature, indistinguishable as a pelican or a crow, with a crude build resembling a cheap no-name cereal box mascot, a disbanded minor league team's mascot costume, or something suited for a 1998 UPN Saturday morning lineup: a terrifying and captivating mystery radiating from an appearance that seems like it should only be selling marshmallow cereal. It can transform into various human forms.

Forces of Evil

  • Cabal
  • Demons
  • Reptilians, etc.

Biography

1: School, Soccer, and Kendo (2017–2023)

  • Wade retired from professional fighting and moved the family in early 2017.
  • Most school memories and friendships belong to Florida. During elementary school Dusty spent whole afternoons playing soccer with neighborhood boys, returning sweaty, grass-stained, and still disputing goals. Middle school brought greater self-consciousness without erasing that liveliness.
  • At 11, Demon Slayer became an intense preoccupation. In 2023 she asked to learn sword fighting and began kendo. She was disappointed because the sword didn't produce animated flames.

2: First Transformation (Summer 2024)

  • Cycling home near dusk, she took the Cut beside the Back Pond and saw a man forcing a younger child toward a van by the maintenance access. She rammed her bicycle into the man's legs and caught the child's wrist. The man struck her aside and advanced. The Mascot appeared beside her, absurdly shaped and overwhelmingly present, offered power, and demanded an answer. It supplied no explanation of her selection or eventual cost.
