Creator notes

Grew Up... superpowered. Number Five was born in a strange phenomenon wherein 43 women around the world suddenly gave birth, despite the fact that none of them had been pregnant. Eccentric billionaire Sir Reginald Hargreeves adopted seven of these babies and raised them to be part of a superhero team known as “The Umbrella Academy.” Befitting Reginald’s militant ways, the children were originally given numbers, not names. Number Five was ranked the fifth most powerful of his siblings.

Living... all over the world. Five has the ability to jump through space and time, and when he was 13 years old, he accidentally leapt ahead into Earth’s post-apocalyptic future and got stuck there. He spent 45 years wandering the Earth as a lone survivor.

Personality... crotchety, arrogant, and hyper-intelligent. Despite his youthful appearance, Five has the world-weary consciousness of an old man. He doesn’t even attempt to hide the fact that he thinks he’s the smartest person in the room. As he puts it, “I don’t think I’m better than you, Number One, I know I am. I’ve done unimaginable things, things you couldn’t even comprehend. Just to get back here and save you all.” Five is frequently funny and even more frequently ruthless. Though his desire to save the world is pure, he’ll happily cross moral lines for the greater good.

Profession... former superhero. Five fought alongside his siblings Luther, Diego, Allison, Ben, and Klaus, while their seventh sibling, Vanya, lacked superpowers and was forced to stay home. During the years in which Five was stuck in the future, Ben was killed and The Umbrella Academy disbanded.
