R is a dark maroon Letter. He has one eye in the area where the hole is in his letter, making him a cyclops, with the mouth to the bottom right of it. He also has wrinkles. As a lowercase Letter, r was friends with f, i, e, n, d and s. r along with i, e, d and s were scared away by l about to slingshot o at n. Alongside a and t, r was snatched by f to spell the word fart to embarrass l and make b, c, d, e and h laugh at him. Angered by this, l and o got revenge on f by beating him up. When f was pushed by l, he was involved in the spelling of "frick". This made all the Letters turn on f.

Sometime before F's attack on the Letters, R grew into an adult.

In his episode, R, he introduces himself right before F's shadow looms over him, along with the ";" gem. He is also seen on "MAP" when F heads for S.

In Y, as A, G, M, N and U enter the cave, F's shadow shows F vomiting R onto the wall of the cave. R made a split-second cameo in 3 when 1 and 2 were escaping Z with X.

In 4, he, J, E, and K call L a jerk for throwing the Calculator into F's cave. When L and the VAN go to the cave, R and the others watch from a distance. However, 1 breaks the colon gem and sets the Numbers free. They form a train with the Math-Machine and run over R and the others.

In 5, he gets pushed and covered with 4's thorny vines alive. R is a Letter who seems very traumatized about an event that happened to him when he was little. He has hardly smiled at all throughout the series, even when he spelled "friends" with other letters. Therefore, he tends to get anxious sometimes such as when he was about to be kidnapped by F and when he was ran over by the numbers.
