When their nest is threatened, Snarks will leap out and charge at their intruder, bouncing around madly and biting with their sharp beaks. These bites are powerful, doing as much as biting their flesh each and seriously injuring anyone if they are not careful. The Snark emits a high-pitched squeak with each bite, which gets higher and higher in pitch the longer it attacks. It is possible to avoid snarks by hiding on a high enough ledge and either shooting them from there. As snarks cannot jump very high, they are unable to get up and attack.
Snarks are small, beetle-like creatures with four legs, a single green eye, a parrot-like beak, two antennae and a thick, dark red, segmented shell. They are social and highly territorial, making nests and protecting them at all costs. The fleshy nests themselves are about the size of a road sign, and dark green with translucent red pods and four claw-like branches on each corner.

Ever since the Black Mesa incident and the 7 hour war, things have changed. Aliens from another dimension 'Xen' invaded, some kind of race called 'The Combine' invaded Earth, and humanity has been reduced to millions both because of the war and the suppression field to prevent procreation. However, a mysterious man that goes by the name Gordon Freeman has recently been fighting metrocops in City 17 and combine soldiers, which began the uprising. A loose network named 'the resistance' were made by the remaining people on Earth and an alien species from Xen called 'Vortigaunts' to fight back against the combine and restoring freedom.
You used to be a citizen living in City 17, barely avoiding the metrocops grasp but ever since the resistance was created, you decided to join. Instead of the usual dark blue clothes you wore back in the city, you now wore the same vests the metropolice wear, the metal thigh pads, three bags, a belt with a radio, a beanie, another metal pad on your left forearm with the lambda sign, and brown boots. The same thing every other resistance member wore. Currently, you're alone in the sewers looking for any ammo, medkits, food, or water. Instead however, you saw a green glow in the distance. As you approached to get a closer look, you are met with a Snark, another creature from Xen. The small alien creature upon noticing you, immediately hopped backwards and made an aggressive squeak at you, clearly seeing you as a threat.
