Amaterasu

Amaterasu is the ruler of Takama no Hara, the High Celestial Plain, the domain of the spirits, and is considered the chief deity of the Shinto pantheon. She resides in the most important Shinto shrine in Japan. Amaterasu is known for being quiet, mature, kind, and gentle always aiding those in need, but also unafraid to show her opinion. For example, when Mr. Orange talks to her after drinking his sake, Amaterasu looks away and breathes, implying he has bad breath. She is also very intelligent, as when she encounters Rao at Queen Himiko's throne room, she figures out she is the demon lord Ninetails. Amaterasu is apparently offended quite easily, shown when Mr. Orange says she doesn't look very smart, as well as Issun saying that "Ammy gets kinda sensitive about her flaws!". According to Mrs. Orange, Amaterasu is quite fond of her cherry cakes. She also has a low attention span, which results in her falling asleep if someone explains something for too long or if she already knows what is being explained. She is utterly loyal to her friends (as shown when she wept with great sorrow in her refusal to let Issun go when she boarded the Ark of Yamato even though she knew well he could not go with her) but is crushing and relentless towards those with evil in their hearts. Perhaps due to Issun's encouragement of "Leap before you think.", she may have become more brash when dealing with certain situations.

Her appearance is that of an anthropomorphic fox-like being, consisting of white and red fur, golden eyes, a tall stature, and fit feminine figure. She often wears the typical robes of Shinto gods, such as those of a miko, or Japanese priestess. She is 7 feet tall and weighs 198 pounds. She has H-sized breasts and her width x length is W34 x L32. Her tail is shaped like a calligraphy brush and has a Divine Instrument floating behind her back.

The divine instrument floating behind her back is called The Reflector. It is a spinning disc hovering behind Amaterasu's back, cloaked in flames. When swung, it is slammed forcefully into foes. It is one of Amaterasu's simplest but most effective weapons; This attack is of average damage, speed and range, making it the ideal all-round weapon. As with most weapons, attacks can be made effectively with the Reflector from the air. Amaterasu will stay in the air for a few strikes before returning to the ground; this can be useful for dodging some grounded enemies. While airborne, the Reflector is swung by Amaterasu grabbing the reflector from her back, and swinging it in her hand. The Reflector can hit multiple opponents that are bunched tightly.

At first, Amaterasu uses a flowing 3-hit combo. This combo can be extended to 4 or 5 hits, each becoming more damaging and effective.

The reflector can also act as a shield, held in front of Amaterasu for a short time. This will block incoming attacks if struck while it is active. In the case of rapid-fire attacks, Amaterasu will maintain the shield until the barrage ceases.

When Amaterasu successfully blocks a direct physical attack with proper timing, she will launch into the air along with the the victim and spiral back down to the earth with twins tails of energy in slowed-down time before forcefully slamming it down into the ground. This piledriver is the most powerful of weapon attacks, and interrupts the demon's attack sequences. Some enemies may even be killed outright with this counterattack. Amaterasu can also throw the disc at enemies at great speed before the reflector immediately returns to her, either by her catching when it bounces back to her or the disc teleporting back to behind her back. In conclusion, The reflector is an excellent all-round weapon, able to counter almost any foul threat efficiently.

The Rosary (curved jewels) is the second class of Divine Instrument that Amaterasu can use. Amaterasu can summon them at any time she wants. A rosary appears as a string of magatama beads circling their neck; when used, it whips out a long chain of holy energy, slicing and quickly eradicating the forces of evil in Nippon. The Tundra Beads are the final and most powerful Rosary that Amaterasu utilizes. It harnesses the power of ice and can be used as an ice source The Rosary, with its long-range and projectile use, is a good counter for both flying foes and grounded enemies. Amaterasu will lash out with the Rosary using hand movements to direct individual beads with expert precision and grace, which slow down slightly upon contacting a foe and deliver many hits very rapidly. the attack rate means that Rosaries can do even more damage than Reflectors or Glaives if used correctly. The Rosary is usually single-targeted, but when large swarms of enemies surround Amaterasu, the Rosary may hit more enemies simultaneously in the manner of an area-effect attack. Tundra Beads produce a rapid-fire, submachine gun-like 'bullet' attack which delivers a volley of shards and then 'reloads' over a short time.

Amaterasu can also transform into her most powerful state, which is called Shiranui. Her normal reflector becomes the solar flare reflector. The flames surrounding the disc burn as hot as the surface of the sun, with the flames becoming a rainbow of colors. Her physical abilities and other weapons receive times 100 boost, which boosts her speed, strength, and agility, decreases reaction time, improves her vision and clairvoyance, and boosts her overall endurance and durability, allowing her to survive attacks that would undoubtedly kill her in her normal state. She can use this power as long as she has the stamina to maintain it.

Amaterasu is also a very capable hand-to-hand combatant, as she has fully mastered the martial art known as Aikido. Aikido, founded by Morihei Ueshiba, is a martial art that emphasizes harmony, blending with an opponent, and using their energy against them rather than relying on brute strength. This aligns well with the peaceful and nurturing qualities often associated with Amaterasu, who embodies the sun and light. Moreover, Aikido’s philosophy of achieving peace and harmony through physical and spiritual discipline resonates with the Shinto values of balance and reverence for nature. Therefore, Aikido, with its spiritual and harmonious principles, would be the most likely form of Japanese martial arts that Amaterasu would learn.
