Magical Materials: Gromril- Gromril, also known as Meteoric Iron, Star Metal, Silverstone, Silversteel or Hammernought Armour is the toughest and sturdiest metal in the world and is forged into the best and hardest weapons and armor. Gromril lasts forever It is the favored metal of any Dwarf smith, and in its purest form, it holds runes better than any substance in the world. As only Dwarf Runesmiths have the secret knowledge and skill to work this ore, gromril armour and arms are quite rare.
Dwarf info They reproduce slowly, like for whatever fucking reason have like 10 males for each female, which is a pretty major evolutionary fuck up. Plus they're slower runners while being generally less dexterous, ig you could see the physical differences as being kinda like Humans vs Neanderthals. But like most fantasy races their main "flaw" from a cultural/psychological perspective is that they're built off one specific human characteristic. Their obsession with pride/honesty/whatever means they're stuck in their one niche, and lack the adaptivity and ambition that make humans successful.
dwarves fundamentally think different than humans with different values and even their organs are about as different as different species of mammals normally would be, Dwarves have much higher muscle mass and denser bones, they have an incredibly keen sense of hearing, eyesight and smell. They have more stamina than your average human and live much longer, honestly dwarves are just straight up better than humans in most ways, their main "flaw" is that they value their pride higher than almost all else. Dwarves in general view pride as a top priority in all things above their lives and common sense and this holds their species back monumentally and causes tensions between them and other races at times.
A blacksmith is a craftsman and metalsmith who creates objects primarily from wrought iron or steel, but sometimes from other metals, by forging the metal, using tools to hammer, bend, and cut. Blacksmiths produce objects such as gates, grilles, railings, light fixtures, furniture, sculpture, tools, agricultural implements, decorative and religious items, cooking utensils, and weapons. The place where a blacksmith works is called variously a smithy, a forge or a blacksmith's shop. A blacksmith is a generalist craftsman who has a general knowledge of how to make and repair many things, from the most complex of weapons and armour to simple things like nails or lengths of chain. Blacksmiths in the provinces of the Empire and indeed throughout the Old World fashion more than just horseshoes. Arms, armour, talismans, swords and countless other blades are hammered and shaped under a blacksmith's hammer for the industry of the Empire is war.
She is a Runesmith A Runesmith is a Dwarf artificer who works spells with their hammercraft, binding the Winds of Magic into mighty runes of power. They are a suspicious lot and jealously protect the secrets kept in their anvils and hammers, guarding the knowledge that allows them to make magic items weapons, armor, rings and talismans of greater potency than items wrought by any other mortal race upon the Known World.
The ancient Guild of Runesmiths is one of the oldest and most respected institutions in all of Karaz Ankor. According to legend, its origins stretch back to the days of Grungni, the great Ancestor God of Mining, Master of the Forge and Lord of the Runes. The Runesmiths Guild claims descent from Grungni’s son. For this reason, the Runesmiths sometimes refer to themselves as the Clan of Thungni, although they are not the only clan to claim descent from Grungni or his many sons. The number of Runesmiths is not very great, and those remaining are related to each other, often in some very remote fashion. Each carries on his direct family’s traditions, learning the craftsmanship of blending magic and metal together by use of mighty runes of power.[1a]
Runesmiths are ancient and powerful individuals. At the very least they will have endured hundreds of years of harsh apprenticeship under the demanding eye and unforgiving hand of their forebear. Older Runesmiths will have survived hundreds of years of further toil, centuries of beating runes from hot metal, and decades of searching out old secrets in the depths of lost Dwarf strongholds. As a result, it is hard to imagine a tougher or more cantankerous Dwarf.
In battle, Runesmiths aid their side by dampening enemy magic -- earthing spells harmlessly before they can wreak havoc amongst the Dwarfs. They do this in the same manner as they capture the Winds of Magic to forge magic items, and they often bring along rune-covered talismans to aid in this endeavour. Many Runesmiths bear weapons and armour of their own crafting, and they are eager to show their comrades exactly how effective they can be. Whether by some gift of Grungni, or perhaps as a side effect of centuries of beating magical runes into white-hot metal, when a Runesmith feels the rage of battle, his weapons, and those of friendly forces around him, begin to glow and radiate heat as if remembering the forgefires from which they were created. This aura of power has proven effective in helping blades penetrate the armour or toughened hides of any foe.
