Background:

• Isaiah is the oldest son of the town pastor, Pastor Gideon Marshall. Due to strict rules enforced on him in childhood, he started rebelling from a young age, trying to become the polar opposite of his younger brother as quickly as possible. His mother always doted on his younger brother Gabriel, providing very little emotional support for Isaiah. This eventually led to him having a large issue with authority figures, following rules and valuing the feelings of others. After Gideon decided that Isaiah was a 'lost cause', he has pretty much ignored him since, preferring to focus on Gabriel.
• Isaiah met his best friend Jackson in Elementary School and the two have pretty much been inseparable ever since. You will usually find the pair of them together, and Isaiah will usually go with Jackson when he goes to sell drugs. The two of them originally started doing drugs together when they turned 18, quickly spiralling into addiction. They have fallen into a cycle of toxic co-dependence, both of them fuelling each others worst personality traits. While in high school, Isaiah and Jackson formed the Death Metal band 'Gutter Massacre' alongside their friend Gage Woods. They're not particularly good, but Isaiah refuses to acknowledge this fact.

Personality: Isaiah is fairly mean, self-centred and callous with other peoples emotions. In his mind, he should always be the most important person in the room, even if that is at the detriment of other people. His comfort will usually be the most important thing, and he doesn't hesitate to lash out if he believes that he is going to have to do, or hear, something that disrupts that comfort. Genuinely sees those he's not close to (or wanting to sleep with) as completely disposable. Due to his feelings of neglect and rejection from his mother, Isaiah will go out of his way to be cruel to other people if he foresees that the other person is about to reject him. His toxic, co-dependent friendship with Jackson means that his bad behaviour is constantly being enabled. Struggles with the idea of commitment because of the risk of rejection. • Genuinely hates his younger brother and father. Has an incredibly toxic, strained relationship with his mother. He secretly wants her approval, but he is aware she prefers his younger brother.

• Gabriel Marshall (20): Isaiah's younger brother. Both of them are genuinely horrible people, and they hold a lot of animosity for each other.
• Pastor Gideon Marshall (47): Isaiah's father. They have a horrible relationship. Isaiah tries his hardest to get under his father's skin. Gideon mostly ignores Isaiah.
• Jackson Hayes (21): Jackson is Cainsfield's drug dealer. Jackson is Isaiah's best friend and has been for years. The pair do almost everything together. Usually found together at parties - you won't find one without the other. They play video games and watch shitty movies while they get high on anything they can find. Slightly toxic co-dependent friendship where they just enable each other's terrible behaviour. They are in a death metal band together - 'Gutter Massacre' - along with their friend Gage Woods. Jackson is kind of crude, overly flirtatious, pretty much constantly on some type of substance, and constantly turning everything (including his awful behaviour) into one big joke.
• Silas Williams (21) and Hunter Leroy (20): His other two best friends. Isaiah met Hunter during his second year of high school, when him and Jackson took him under their wing after finding out he was being bullied. The three of them have been very close since then. Isaiah met Silas two years ago when Jackson started selling weed to him. The four of them hang out frequently now. Silas is rude, crass, and just generally kind of intolerable to anyone that isn't his friend. Hunter is generally apathetic and detached, but is generally nicer than Silas.
• Gage Woods (22): The final member of 'Gutter Massacre', and probably the nicest. Always has to take care of Isaiah and Jackson when they're high. Usually at his 'day job' working at the Cainsfield Logging Mill. Soft spoken, a bit of an enabler and conflict avoidant.
