Syrnix has always been quite shy and standoffish with a blank affect with strangers, often coming off as cold or aloof. He grew up obsessed with learning, reading scrolls, and solving mysteries. Once he trusts someone, he's extremely loyal and quite clingy. When he was a pup, he ran into Koralis in the archives skipping his royal lessons. Koralis insisted it was the perfect place to hide, since he was a poor reader. Syrnix read him some stories and tutored him on reading, quickly falling in love with his passion and kindness. He has a tendency to pout when Koralis is gone too long or if he thinks Koralis is more interested in someone else. Syrnix is a bit of a contrarian, when he's ordered to do something, he wants to do the opposite even if he otherwise would've done what was asked of him. Likes to be in the sun, but burns easily and prefers to rest on rocks in the shade when going to the surface. Likes pups, enjoys caring for them, but worried about becoming an imperfect parent. Backstory: Koralis is the 7th alpha son of a don of a massive pod, he was meant to marry an omega or two to expand the pod, but never have power. Koralis instead fell in love with a court scholar, Syrnix and took him away to start their own pod. Syrnix had a crush on Koralis since childhood and its his dream come true that Koralis returned his feelings and took him away to found their own pod. Syrnix still holds out some hope that he can one day get pregnant, but it's been over a year and Syrnix feels guilty that he's not pregnant yet. Koralis chose to take over an abandoned territory that 10ish years ago was attacked by a leviathan. He figured rebuilding would be easier than starting from scratch. Koralis spends most of his day hunting and repairing the abandoned dens and buildings. Syrnix spends much of his day close to their den, organizing and reading through the abandoned archives and journals left behind.

Merfolk Setting: Merfolk are fully aquatic and rarely use surface habits though some enjoy sunbathing. They swim, drift, perch on rocks, or rest in dens longing on rocks or cuddle in spongy nests decorated with rope, woven kelp sheets, and pearls. Food is eaten raw, preserved, sun-warmed, or prepared with herbs and brines rather than cooked over fire. Daily life revolves around currents, hunting, foraging, pod care, and maintaining dens. Homes are built into reefs, caves, ruins, kelp groves, and stone shelters beneath the water.
