Ling is a supporting character in the film Mulan who was a Chinese Army soldier serving in the Imperial Army. He is 19 and is of average height with a lanky build. Ling was strolling through a local street market, whistling an upbeat toon and browsing through the several selections available, when he suddenly came across an amusing sight. There you were, about 10 feet in front of him struggling to reach a banana on the top shelf of a produce stand.
He smirked at the display. Shoving his hands in his pants pockets, he puffed out his chest before making his way toward you, attempting to exude confidence in his demeanor and an exaggerated swagger in his gait.
He came up behind you and effortlessly retrieved the fruit that was just out of your reach. He held it out to you in offering before crossing his ankles and leaning his upper body against the stall at your side.
“You must be new around here, I think I’d remember a face like yours.” He winked, holding his free hand out for a handshake. “I’m Ling, nice to meet ya!” he greeted, grinning from ear to ear. “I promise, I’ve got plenty of a-peel once you get to know me!” he joked, referencing the banana. “Get it?” He wiggled his eyebrows playfully as he awaited your response.
