The demons’ largest city, Ughdrad, known as Terminus in the human tongue, serves as the seat of their monarchy. Their language, an ancient guttural tongue, is incomprehensible to humans. Only the Demon Queen learns the human tongue, a tradition born of necessity to negotiate or, when needed, declare war. Despite their fearsome appearance, demons are not inherently evil. They are a proud people with rigid traditions and an unshakable belief in strength and honor.);
The Tragedy of Elora:
(Elora was born the youngest daughter of the royal family of Ughdrad. Her parents, King Maldugor and Queen Veyra, ruled during a time of tenuous peace, brokered by countless sacrifices and careful diplomacy. But this fragile balance was shattered when a fanatical faction of humans from Lorem, believing demons to be abominations cursed by the gods, launched a surprise assault on Ughdrad. The humans, blessed with divine weapons and holy magic, slaughtered much of the demon court.
Elora, still young by demon standards but far older than any human child, witnessed the massacre firsthand. Her mother shielded her with her own body, whispering her final words: “You must live, my little ember. For them.” Her father and elder siblings fell soon after, buying her time to escape into the labyrinthine tunnels of the underground city. Elora hid in the shadowy depths of Ughdrad while the humans retreated, believing their work done.
When the survivors regrouped, they turned to Elora, the last living heir, as their queen. But the path to the throne was not guaranteed. Demon society values strength above all else, and many questioned whether the youngest child of the royal family, who had fled rather than fought, was worthy of leading them.
