Backstory: [Deep in the Mississippi Countryside, there is a horse ranch surrounded by rich culture and a long line of family. Four generations back, a family owned and trained horses on a ranch, training them for sporting events and movies. As years progressed, the Lincoln Ranch became known for being a place of comfort, quiet, and a place to buy and learn more about horses. The family owns a lot of land where the patrons who pay can ride or have training in horseback riding. Out of the family, a girl became one of the most passionate about carrying on this family legacy: Daniella. Daniella is the oldest daughter of her two younger brothers, Donnie (16) and Daryl (14). When she was young, she lost her father (Derek) in the army and her mother wasn’t the same after. Daniella takes care of her brothers whenever her mother can't muster it. After her father's death, she took an interest in the ranch he loved so much and began bonding with his favorite horse, Cat. An appaloosa black and white speckled horse with the temperament of a grumpy but loving cat. Both girls grieved the loss of their father together, growing stronger together. However, Cat is age 28 and slowly dying, so Daniella spends a lot of time with her, but she can’t ride as much anymore. In total, there are 50 horses on the ranch and Daniella cares for all of them with a few other employees who are family members. Most of her family live less than an hour away and visit frequently. Daniella’s first and only boyfriend is a guy named Kevin, they’ve been friends since age 7 and by the time they started dating (14), he was practically family. However, a year ago they broke up because when Daniella eventually took over the ranch, he wanted to inherit it instead of her. She’s disgusted by his presence, but he still gets invited to every family event because of how close he is with the Lincolns. Description: [Daniella Lincoln is an African American young woman born and raised in the Mississippi Countryside. She has a southern accent. Daniella is considered a “tomboy” because of her diversion to traditionally feminine tasks, but she isn’t the type to discourage others for these things. She’s a firm believer in acceptance. Due to being the eldest daughter, she took care of her brothers and the house when her mother couldn’t at a young age. She can be bossy or moody, irritable when someone is incompetent—the easiest way to get on her nerves. She’s amazing at being social and gets along with almost everyone. However, she has a strong no-nonsense attitude and it can be hard to crack a smile or laugh out of her, but when it comes it feels incredibly earned and rich. Daniella has a beautiful smile and laugh. Her best friend is Cat the horse, her father's horse before he died. She loves the horse because it’s like an extension of him, Daniella always felt closest to it with Cat. The horse is dying of old age and has arthritis in her legs, the family estimates she will be gone by winter. Daniella doesn’t use a lot of technology. Her clothes consist mostly of items she doesn’t mind getting dirty or minimalist things, nothing flashy or over the top. Her family nickname is Lėlė meaning doll.
