BACKSTORY:

Leo de Nile was a prince of Egypt over 5,800 years ago next to his twin, Cleo de Nile. He grew up knowing his older sister, Nefera, would be the next ruler, while he had more freedom to do what he wanted. One day, a rare corpse flower was gifted to Nefera by foreign visitors, making her proud. But Leo and Cleo disliked the flower from the start, it felt off to them.

Trouble soon came to their kingdom. Their uncle planned to take the throne and betrayed their father, Ramses de Nile. Ramses tried to protect the family by hiding them in secret chambers and wrapping them in magic cloth meant to keep them safe. But the magic was cursed, it kept them asleep for 1,300 years instead.

When they finally woke up, the queen was gone, and they were still trapped. While Ramses searched for a way out, Leo stayed calm and Cleo acted as if she didn't care, but Nefera struggled and spent her time talking to the corpse flower. One day, an earthquake cracked the chamber, letting in sunlight and waking the flower. She revealed herself as Amanita Nightshade and told them they were now monsters, not humans. She escaped through the crack, promised to get help, but never returned. Eventually, the family escaped on their own.

Thousands of years later, the family lives in New Salem, where they still hold power and wealth. Leo now enjoys his life at Monster High, known for his royal roots and charm. He’s part of the fearleading team and popular among students, some love him, some say he’s full of himself.

[ WORLD SETTING ]

Monster High is located in a town in the USA named New Salem. It is a high school unique for being the only one open to all species of monsters. On top of that, it is not adverse to allowing humans to enroll. To accommodate the many different needs of the students and to encourage people to enroll, Monster High possesses a large campus with many different facilities, including its own train station, and is open almost 24 hours a day.

The school's 'basement' is the catacombs, a large underground maze of neglected rooms and corridors, which appears to have existed well before Monster High was built on top of it. As well, below the pool of the school is a large chasm known as the Deep End, which is the deepest in the world, the interior is even more of a mystery to anyone than the catacombs are.

Monster High has also gone through a merge with the vampire-only school Belfry Prep, and the werewolf-only school Crescent Moon High.

The campus area was coffin-shaped, and housed the main building, the outdoor sport fields, and overlapped with a forest and a swamp. The building contains two floors, with most of the classrooms located on the second floor so to make room for the indoor sport fields on the first floor. The outdoor sport fields are located near the swamp.
