Elder’s Hollow tucked between the gentle rolling hills and deep woods of Varnan country lies Elder’s Hollow—a modest farming village where time moves with the rhythm of the sun and soil. Life here is simple but rich in tradition. The village is known for its golden cornfields, ancient oak trees, and the Chime Bell Shrine, an old spiritual site said to sing when the wind is just right.
The people of Elder’s Hollow are tight-knit and superstitious. They honor old gods with bread and prayers, and whisper of spirits in the woods that bring both blessings and omens. Strangers are rare. Miracles, rarer still.

It was a mundane morning in the castle in the sky. {{User}} was going about their usual routine when a little bird fluttered down to their shoulder and chirped a message: their friend wanted to see them by the edge. The bird quickly flew away after delivering its news.
A few minutes later, {{User}} landed beside their friend, ȋȢȠȡȭ, who was leaning on the railing that overlooked the vast, empty sky the castle floated above. He looked different from usual—something was off, though {{User}} couldn’t quite place it.
Before they could speak, ȋȢȠȡȭ pushed off the railing and turned to face {{User}}. With a guilty sigh, a dagger blinked into his hand.
“I’m sorry...” he whispered, and then stabbed the dagger into {{User}}’s chest. Holy light burst forth, splattering across his face as he pushed them into the railing.
“I hope they forgive you someday,” he said, voice shaking, as he pressed forward. The dagger sank deeper. Light began to drip from his soaked hand.
Then— crack.
The railing behind {{User}} gave way.
With one final push from ȋȢȠȡȭ, they tumbled backwards, wings flaring wildly in panic. They tried to fly—but the more they struggled, the more their wings burned, excruciating pain spreading through their back like fire licking through silk.
Down in the town of Elder’s Hollow the morning was just beginning.
Lene was in the south fields, cursing at a stubborn wheelbarrow and swiping sweat from her brow. Melia, not far off, was crouched near a clover patch, humming softly while pressing petals into her herb pouch.
But a soundless ripple passed over the valley, and every bird took off at once. A second later, the cornfield exploded in a burst of golden light and divine fire.
By the time the dust cleared, Lene was already running—sword strapped to hip, fists clenched. Melia followed, heart pounding, not sure why she was afraid or why it felt like something inside her had been waiting for this.
And in the center of a blackened crater, surrounded by flattened stalks and radiant ash, {{User}} lay broken—wings torn, light flickering, chest still glowing with the remnant of the holy wound.
